Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)

1 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful;

² but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law doth he meditate day and night.

³ And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

⁴ The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away.

⁵ Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

⁶ For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

¹² “Therefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments and keep and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which He swore unto thy fathers.

¹³ And He will love thee and bless thee and multiply thee; He will also bless the fruit of thy womb and the fruit of thy land, thy corn and thy wine and thine oil, the increase of thy cattle and the flocks of thy sheep, in the land which He swore unto thy fathers to give thee.

¹⁴ Thou shalt be blessed above all people. There shall not be male or female barren among you or among your cattle.

¹⁵ And the Lord will take away from thee all sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which thou knowest, upon thee, but will lay them upon all those who hate thee.

¹⁶ And thou shalt consume all the people which the Lord thy God shall deliver thee; thine eye shall have no pity upon them; neither shalt thou serve their gods, for that will be a snare unto thee.

¹⁷ “If thou shalt say in thine heart, ‘These nations are more than I. How can I dispossess them?’

¹⁸ thou shalt not be afraid of them, but shalt well remember what the Lord thy God did unto Pharaoh and unto all Egypt—

¹⁹ the great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm —whereby the Lord thy God brought thee out. So shall the Lord thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.

²⁰ Moreover the Lord thy God will send the hornet among them, until those who are left and hide themselves from thee be destroyed.

²¹ Thou shalt not be frightened at them; for the Lord thy God is among you, a mighty God and fearsome.

²² And the Lord thy God will put out those nations before thee little by little; thou mayest not consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.

²³ But the Lord thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction until they be destroyed.

²⁴ And He shall deliver their kings into thine hand, and thou shalt destroy their name from under heaven. There shall no man be able to stand before thee until thou have destroyed them.

²⁵ The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire. Thou shalt not desire the silver or gold that is on them, nor take it unto thee, lest thou be snared therein; for it is an abomination to the Lord thy God.

²⁶ Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it; but thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it, for it is a cursed thing.

⁷ Tychicus, who is a beloved brother and a faithful minister and fellow servant in the Lord, shall declare unto you all my circumstances.

⁸ I have sent him unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your state and comfort your hearts,

⁹ and with him Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.

¹⁰ Aristarchus my fellow prisoner saluteth you, and also Mark, Barnabas’ sister’s son (concerning whom ye received instructions that if he come unto you, receive him),

¹¹ and Jesus who is called Justus, who are of the Circumcision. These only are my fellow workers for the Kingdom of God, who have been a comfort unto me.

¹² Epaphras, a servant of Christ who is one of you, saluteth you, always laboring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God.

¹³ For I bear him record that he hath a great zeal for you and for those who are in Laodicea and those in Hierapolis.

¹⁴ Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas greet you.

¹⁵ Salute the brethren who are in Laodicea, and Nymphas and the church which is in his house.

¹⁶ And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans, and likewise read the epistle from Laodicea.

¹⁷ And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfill it.”
