Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
6 Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men;
7 for better it is that it be said unto thee, “Come up hither,” than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.
112 Praise ye the Lord! Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in His commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon the earth; the generation of the upright shall be blessed.
3 Wealth and riches shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth for ever.
4 Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness; he is gracious and full of compassion and righteous.
5 A good man showeth favor and lendeth; he will guide his affairs with discretion.
6 Surely he shall not be moved forever; the righteous shall be held in everlasting remembrance.
7 He shall not be afraid of evil tidings; his heart is fixed, trusting in the Lord.
8 His heart is established; he shall not be afraid until he sees his desires upon his enemies.
9 He hath dispersed, he hath given to the poor; his righteousness endureth for ever; his horn shall be exalted with honor.
10 The wicked shall see it and be grieved, he shall gnash with his teeth and melt away; the desire of the wicked shall perish.
13 Let brotherly love continue.
2 Be not forgetful to entertain strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.
3 Remember those who are in bonds as though you were bound with them, and thse who suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.
4 Marriage is honorable in all, and the bed undefiled; but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
5 Let your manner of living be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have. For He hath said, “I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee”;
6 so that we may boldly say, “The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.”
7 Remember those who have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the Word of God. Follow their faith, considering the outcome of their manner of living.
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and for ever.
15 By Him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to His name.
16 But to do good and to communicate forget not, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
14 And it came to pass, as He went into the house of one of the chief Pharisees to eat bread on the Sabbath day, that they watched Him.
7 And He put forth a parable to those who were bidden, when He marked how they chose out the chief places, saying unto them,
8 “When thou art bidden by any man to a wedding, sit not down in the highest place, lest a more honorable man than thou be bidden by him,
9 and he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, ‘Give this man thy place,’ and thou begin with shame to take the lowest place.
10 But when thou art bidden, go and sit down in the lowest place, that when he that bade thee cometh, he may say unto thee, ‘Friend, go up higher.’ Then shalt thou have honor in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee.
11 For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.”
12 Then said He also to him who bade Him, “When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen nor thy rich neighbors, lest they also bid thee again and a recompense be made to thee.
13 But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind,
14 and thou shalt be blessed, for they cannot recompense thee. For thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
