Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
21 But as for You, O Yahweh, O Lord, deal with me (A)for Your name’s sake;
Because (B)Your lovingkindness is good, deliver me;
22 For (C)I am afflicted and needy,
And [a]my heart is (D)pierced within me.
23 I am passing (E)like a shadow when it is stretched out;
I am shaken off (F)like the locust.
24 My (G)knees are feeble from (H)fasting,
And my flesh has grown lean, without fatness.
25 As for me, I have become a (I)reproach to them;
They see me, they (J)wag their head.
26 (K)Help me, O Yahweh my God;
Save me according to Your lovingkindness.
27 [b]And let them (L)know that this is Your hand;
You, O Yahweh, have done it.
28 (M)Let them curse, but You bless;
They arise and will be put to shame,
But Your (N)slave shall be glad.
29 [c]Let (O)my accusers be clothed with dishonor,
And [d]let them (P)wrap themselves with their own shame as with a robe.
Yahweh Judges His People
33 “As I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “surely with a strong hand and with an (A)outstretched arm and with wrath poured out, I shall be (B)king over you. 34 And I will (C)bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered, with a strong hand and with an outstretched arm and with (D)wrath poured out; 35 and I will bring you into the (E)wilderness of the peoples, and there I will enter into judgment with you face to face. 36 As I (F)entered into judgment with your fathers in the (G)wilderness of the land of Egypt, so I will enter into judgment with you,” declares Lord Yahweh. 37 “And I will make you (H)pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant; 38 and I will (I)purge from you the rebels and those who transgress against Me; I will bring them out of the land where they sojourn, but they will (J)not enter the [a]land of Israel. Thus you will know that I am Yahweh.
39 “As for you, O house of Israel,” thus says Lord Yahweh, “(K)Go, serve everyone his idols; [b]but after this you will surely listen to Me, and My holy name you will (L)profane no longer with your gifts and with your idols. 40 For on My holy mountain, on the high mountain of Israel,” declares Lord Yahweh, “there the whole house of Israel, (M)all of them, will serve Me in the land; there I will (N)accept them, and there I will [c]seek your contributions and the choicest of your gifts, with all your holy things. 41 [d]As a soothing aroma I will accept you when I (O)bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands where you are scattered; and I will prove Myself (P)holy among you in the sight of the nations. 42 And (Q)you will know that I am Yahweh, (R)when I bring you onto the ground of Israel, into the (S)land which I swore to give to your fathers. 43 And there you will (T)remember your ways and all your deeds with which you have defiled yourselves; and you will (U)loathe yourselves to your own faces for all the evil things that you have done. 44 Then (V)you will know that I am Yahweh when I have dealt with you (W)for My name’s sake, not according to your evil ways or according to your corrupt deeds, O house of Israel,” declares Lord Yahweh.’”
Jesus Heals a Man on the Sabbath
6 (A)Now it happened that on another Sabbath He entered (B)the synagogue and was teaching; and there was a man there [a]whose right hand was withered. 7 And the scribes and the Pharisees (C)were watching Him closely to see if He heals on the Sabbath, so that they might find reason to accuse Him. 8 But He (D)knew [b]what they were thinking, and He said to the man with the withered hand, “Get up and [c]come forward!” And he stood up and [d]came forward. 9 And Jesus said to them, “I ask you, is it lawful to do good or to do harm on the Sabbath, to save a life or to destroy it?” 10 And after (E)looking around at them all, He said to him, “Stretch out your hand!” And he did so, and his hand was restored. 11 But they themselves were filled with [e]rage, and were discussing together what they might do to Jesus.
