48 Great is the LORD and greatly to be praised in the City of our God, upon His Holy Mountain.

² Mount Zion (lying northward) is beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole Earth, the City of the Great King.

³ In the palaces thereof, God is known for a refuge.

⁴ For lo, the kings were gathered and went together.

⁵ When they saw it, they marveled. They were astonished and suddenly driven back.

⁶ Fear came upon them there, and sorrow, as upon a woman in childbirth,

⁷ as when You break the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

⁸ As we have heard, so have we seen in the City of the LORD of Hosts, in the city of our God. God will establish it forever. Selah.

⁹ In the midst of Your Temple we wait for Your lovingkindness, O God.

¹⁰ O God, according to Your Name, so is Your praise to the world’s end. Your right hand is full of righteousness.

¹¹ Let Mount Zion rejoice, and the daughters of Judah be glad, because of Your judgments!

¹² March around Zion and encircle it. Count the towers thereof.

¹³ Mark well the wall thereof. Behold her towers, so that you may tell your posterity.

¹⁴ For this God is our God, forever and ever. He shall be our guide to the death. To him who excels: A Psalm committed to the sons of Korah.

¹⁸ Then will the LORD be jealous over His land and spare His people.

¹⁹ Yea, the LORD will answer and say to His people: “Behold, I will send you grain and wine and oil. And you shall be satisfied with it. And I will no longer make you a reproach among the heathen.

²⁰ “But I will remove the Northern army far away from you. And I will drive him into a barren and desolate land, with his face toward the eastern sea, and his back to the western sea. And his stink shall come up. And his corruption shall ascend because he has exalted himself.”

²¹ Do not fear, O land. Be glad and rejoice! For the LORD will do great things!

²² Do not be afraid, you beasts of the field. For the pastures of the wilderness are green. For the tree bears her fruit. The fig tree and the vine give their strength.

²³ Be glad then, you children of Zion! And rejoice in the LORD your God! For He has given you the rain of righteousness. And He will cause the rain to come down for you, the first rain and the latter rain, in the first month.

²⁴ And the barns shall be full of wheat. And the presses shall abound with wine and oil.

²⁵ “And I will render you the years that the locust has eaten — the creeping locust and the consuming locust and the chewing locust — My great host which I sent among you.

²⁶ “So you shall eat and be satisfied and praise the name of the LORD your God, Who has dealt separately with you. And My people shall never be ashamed.

²⁷ “You shall also know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the LORD your God, and no other. And My people shall never be ashamed.

²⁸ “And afterward, I will pour out My Spirit upon all flesh. And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy. Your old men shall dream dreams. Your young men shall see visions.

²⁹ “And I will also pour My Spirit upon the servants, and upon the maids in those days.

2 And I, brothers, when I came to you, came not with excellency of words, or of wisdom, showing to you the testimony of God.

² For I determined not to know anything among you, except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

³ And I was among you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.

⁴ Neither my word nor my preaching was in the enticing speech of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

⁵ So that your faith would not be in the wisdom of man, but in the power of God.

⁶ Rather, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, which come to nothing,

⁷ But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, having been hidden, which God predetermined to our glory before the world,

⁸ and which none of the princes of this world have known. For had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of Glory.

⁹ But as it is written, ‘The things which neither eye has seen, nor ear has heard, nor have come into man’s heart, are those which God has prepared for those who love Him.’

¹⁰ But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yea, the deep things of God.

¹¹ For what man knows the things of a man, except the spirit of a man, which is in him? So also, no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
