Psalm 107:1-3

BOOK 5

Yahweh Saves in Times of Trouble

107 Oh (A)give thanks to Yahweh, for (B)He is good,
For His lovingkindness endures forever.
Let (C)the redeemed of Yahweh say so,
Whom He has (D)redeemed from the hand of the adversary
And (E)gathered from the lands,
From the east and from the west,
From the north and from the [a]south.

Psalm 107:23-32

23 Those who (A)go down to the sea in ships,
Who do business on many waters;
24 They have seen the works of Yahweh,
And His wondrous deeds in the deep.
25 He (B)spoke and set up a (C)stormy wind,
Which (D)raised up the waves [a]of the sea.
26 They went up to the heavens, they went down to the depths;
Their soul (E)melted away in the [b]calamity.
27 They staggered and (F)swayed like a drunken man,
And all their wisdom was swallowed up.
28 Then they cried to Yahweh in their trouble,
And He brought them out of their distresses.
29 He (G)caused the storm to stand still,
So that its waves were hushed.
30 Then they were glad because they were quiet,
So He led them to their desired haven.
31 (H)Let them give thanks to Yahweh for His lovingkindness,
And for His (I)wondrous deeds to the sons of men!
32 Let them (J)exalt Him also (K)in the assembly of the people,
And (L)praise Him at the seat of the elders.

Job 37:1-13

Elihu Speaks of God’s Voice

37 “At this also my heart trembles,
And leaps from its place.
[a]Listen closely to the (A)thunder of His voice,
And the rumbling that goes out from His mouth.
Under the whole heaven He lets it loose,
And His [b]lightning to the (B)ends of the earth.
After it, a voice roars;
He thunders with His majestic voice,
And He does not restrain [c]the lightnings when His voice is heard.
God (C)thunders with His voice marvelously,
Doing (D)great things which we do not know.
For to (E)the snow He says, ‘Fall on the earth,’
And to the (F)downpour of rain and the downpour of rains, ‘Be strong.’
He (G)seals the hand of every man,
That (H)all men may know His work.
Then the beast goes into its (I)lair
And dwells in its [d]den.
Out of the [e](J)south comes the storm,
And out of the [f]north the cold.
10 From the breath of God (K)ice is made,
And the expanse of the waters is frozen.
11 Also with moisture He (L)loads the thick cloud;
He (M)scatters (N)the cloud of His [g]lightning.
12 It changes direction, turning around by His guidance,
That [h]it may do whatever He (O)commands [i]it
On the (P)face of the inhabited earth.
13 Whether for [j](Q)correction, or for (R)His world,
Or for (S)lovingkindness, He causes it to [k]happen.

Luke 21:25-28

When Christ Returns

25 “And there will be [a]signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth anguish among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, 26 men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the [b]world; for the powers of [c]the heavens will be shaken. 27 (A)And then they will see (B)the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28 But when these things begin to take place, straighten up and lift up your heads, because (C)your redemption is drawing near.”
