Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
Bless Yahweh, O My Soul
Of David.
103 (A)Bless Yahweh, O my soul,
And all that is within me, bless His (B)holy name.
2 Bless Yahweh, O my soul,
And (C)forget none of His benefits;
3 Who (D)pardons all your iniquities,
Who (E)heals all your diseases;
4 Who (F)redeems your life from the pit,
Who (G)crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion;
5 Who (H)satisfies your [a]years with good things,
So that your youth is (I)renewed like the eagle.
6 Yahweh (J)performs righteous deeds
And judgments for all who are (K)oppressed.
7 He (L)made known His ways to Moses,
His (M)acts to the sons of Israel.
8 Yahweh is (N)compassionate and gracious,
(O)Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness.
9 He (P)will not always contend with us,
And He will not (Q)keep His anger forever.
10 He has (R)not dealt with us according to our sins,
And He has not rewarded us according to our iniquities.
11 For as high (S)as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who [b]fear Him.
12 As far as the east is from the west,
So far has He (T)removed our transgressions from us.
13 (U)As a father has compassion on his children,
So Yahweh has compassion on those who [c]fear Him.
22 Bless Yahweh, (A)all you works of His,
In all places of His rule;
Bless Yahweh, O my soul!
44 “Behold, everyone who quotes (A)proverbs will quote this proverb concerning you, saying, ‘[a]Like mother, [b]like daughter.’ 45 You are the daughter of your mother, who loathed her husband and children. You are also the (B)sister of your sisters, who (C)loathed their husbands and children. Your mother was a Hittite and your father an Amorite. 46 Now your (D)older sister is Samaria, who lives [c]north of you with her [d]daughters; and your younger sister, who lives [e]south of you, is (E)Sodom with her daughters. 47 Yet you have not merely walked in their ways or done according to their abominations; but, as if that were (F)too little, you acted (G)more corruptly in all your ways than they. 48 As I live,” declares Lord Yahweh, “Sodom your sister and her daughters have (H)not done as you and your daughters have done. 49 Behold, this was the iniquity of your sister Sodom: she and her daughters had (I)lofty pride, (J)abundant food, and (K)quiet ease, but she did not strengthen the hand of the (L)afflicted and needy. 50 Then they were haughty and committed (M)abominations before Me. So I (N)removed them [f]when I saw it. 51 Furthermore, Samaria did not commit half of your sins, for you have multiplied your abominations more than they. Thus you have made your sisters appear (O)righteous by all your abominations which you have done. 52 Also bear your dishonor in that you have [g]made judgment favorable for your sisters. Because of your sins in which you acted (P)more abominably than they, they are more in the right than you. Yes, be also ashamed and bear your dishonor, in that you made your sisters appear righteous.
Precious and Magnificent Promises
1 [a]Simeon Peter, a (A)slave and (B)apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who have received (C)the same [b]kind of faith as ours, [c]by (D)the righteousness of (E)our God and Savior, Jesus Christ: 2 (F)Grace and peace be multiplied to you in (G)the full knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; 3 seeing that His (H)divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the (I)full knowledge of Him who (J)called us [d]by His own glory and [e]excellence. 4 [f]For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent (K)promises, so that by them you may become (L)partakers of the divine nature, having (M)escaped the (N)corruption that is in (O)the world by lust. 5 Now for this very reason also, applying all diligence, in your faith (P)supply (Q)moral [g]excellence, and in your moral excellence, (R)knowledge, 6 and in your knowledge, (S)self-control, and in your self-control, (T)perseverance, and in your perseverance, (U)godliness, 7 and in your godliness, [h](V)brotherly kindness, and in your [i]brotherly kindness, [j]love. 8 For if these things are yours and are increasing, they render you neither useless nor (W)unfruitful in the (X)full knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For in whom these things are not present, that one is (Y)blind, being nearsighted, having [k]forgotten the (Z)purification from his former sins. 10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your (AA)calling and (AB)choosing sure; for in doing these things, you will never (AC)stumble; 11 for in this way the entrance into (AD)the eternal kingdom of our (AE)Lord and Savior Jesus Christ will be (AF)abundantly (AG)supplied to you.
