4 Unto the end, in verses. A psalm for David.

² When I called upon him, the God of my justice heard me: when I was in distress, thou hast enlarged me. Have mercy on me: and hear my prayer.

³ O ye sons of men, how long will you be dull of heart? why do you love vanity, and seek after lying?

⁴ Know ye also that the Lord hath made his holy one wonderful: the Lord will hear me when I shall cry unto him.

⁵ Be angry, and sin not: the things you say in your hearts, be sorry for them upon your beds.

⁶ Offer up the sacrifice of justice, and trust in the Lord: many say, Who sheweth us good things?

⁷ The light of thy countenance O Lord, is signed upon us: thou hast given gladness in my heart.

⁸ By the fruit of their corn, their wine and oil, they are multiplied.

⁹ In peace in the selfsame I will sleep, and I will rest:

¹⁰ For thou, O Lord, singularly hast settled me in hope.

3 Now Peter and John went up into the temple at the ninth hour of prayer.

² And a certain man who was lame from his mother's womb, was carried: whom they laid every day at the gate of the temple, which is called Beautiful, that he might ask alms of them that went into the temple.

³ He, when he had seen Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked to receive an alms.

⁴ But Peter with John fastening his eyes upon him, said: Look upon us.

⁵ But he looked earnestly upon them, hoping that he should receive something of them.

⁶ But Peter said: Silver and gold I have none; but what I have, I give thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, arise, and walk.

⁷ And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up, and forthwith his feet and soles received strength.

⁸ And he leaping up, stood, and walked, and went in with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

⁹ And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

¹⁰ And they knew him, that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened to him.

²⁴ And there was also a strife amongst them, which of them should seem to be the greater.

²⁵ And he said to them: The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and they that have power over them, are called beneficent.

²⁶ But you not so: but he that is the greater among you, let him become as the younger; and he that is the leader, as he that serveth.

²⁷ For which is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serveth? Is it not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you, as he that serveth:

²⁸ And you are they who have continued with me in my temptations:

²⁹ And I dispose to you, as my Father hath disposed to me, a kingdom;

³⁰ That you may eat and drink at my table, in my kingdom: and may sit upon thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
