Version
Exodus 30:11-31:18

11 The Lord also spoke to Moses, saying, 12 “When you take (A)a [a]census of the sons of Israel [b]to count them, then each one of them shall give (B)a ransom for [c]himself to the Lord, when you [d]count them, so that there will be no plague among them when you [e]count them. 13 This is what everyone who [f]is counted shall give: half a [g]shekel according to the shekel of the sanctuary ((C)the shekel is twenty gerahs), half a shekel as a [h]contribution to the Lord. 14 Everyone who [i]is counted, from twenty years old and over, shall give the [j]contribution to the Lord. 15 The rich shall not pay more, and the poor shall not pay less, than the half shekel, when you give the [k]contribution to the Lord to make atonement for [l]yourselves. 16 And you shall take the atonement money from the sons of Israel and give it for the service of the tent of meeting, so that it may be a memorial for the sons of Israel before the Lord, to make atonement for [m]yourselves.”

17 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 18 “You shall also make (D)a basin of [n]bronze, with its base of bronze, for washing; and you shall (E)put it between the tent of meeting and the altar, and you shall put water in it. 19 Aaron and his sons shall (F)wash their hands and their feet from it; 20 when they enter the tent of meeting, they shall wash with water, so that they do not die; or when they approach the altar to minister, by offering up in smoke a fire sacrifice to the Lord. 21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, so that they do not die; and (G)it shall be a permanent statute for them, for [o]Aaron and his [p]descendants throughout their generations.”

The Anointing Oil

22 Moreover, the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 23 “Take also for yourself the finest of spices: of liquid myrrh [q]five hundred shekels, and of fragrant cinnamon half as much, 250, and of fragrant cane 250, 24 and of cassia 500, according to the shekel of the sanctuary, and of olive oil a [r]hin. 25 You shall make [s]from these a holy anointing oil, a fragrant mixture of ointments, the work of a perfumer; it shall be (H)a holy anointing oil. 26 And (I)you shall anoint the tent of meeting with it, and the ark of the testimony, 27 and the table and all its utensils, and the lampstand and its utensils, and the altar of incense, 28 and the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin and its stand. 29 You shall also consecrate them, so that they may be most holy; whatever touches them shall be holy. 30 And (J)you shall anoint Aaron and his sons, and consecrate them, so that they may serve as priests to Me. 31 Furthermore, you shall speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘This shall be a holy anointing oil to Me throughout your generations. 32 It shall not be poured on [t]anyone’s body, nor shall you make any like it in [u]the same proportions; (K)it is holy, and it shall be holy to you. 33 (L)Whoever mixes any like it or whoever puts any of it on a [v]layman [w](M)shall be cut off from his people.’”

The Incense

34 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Take for yourself spices—stacte, onycha, and galbanum, spices and pure frankincense; there shall be an equal part of each. 35 You shall make incense from it all, a skillful mixture, the work of a perfumer, salted, pure, and holy. 36 And you shall crush some of it very fine, and put part of it in front of the testimony in the tent of meeting (N)where I will meet with you; it shall be most holy to you. 37 And the incense which you shall make, (O)you shall not make in [x]the same proportions for yourselves; it shall be holy to you for the Lord. 38 (P)Whoever makes any like it, to [y]use as perfume, [z]shall be cut off from his people.”

The Skilled Craftsmen

31 (Q)Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, “See, I have called by name Bezalel, the (R)son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. And I have (S)filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of [aa]craftsmanship, to create [ab]artistic designs for work in gold, in silver, and in [ac]bronze, and in the cutting of stones [ad]for settings, and in the carving of wood, so that he may work in all kinds of [ae]craftsmanship. And behold, I Myself have [af]appointed with him (T)Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the hearts of all who are [ag]skillful I have put [ah]skill, so that they may make everything that I have commanded you: (U)the tent of meeting, (V)the ark of testimony, (W)the [ai]atoning cover that is on it, and all the furniture of the tent, (X)the table and its [aj]utensils, the (Y)pure gold lampstand with all its [ak]utensils, and (Z)the altar of incense, (AA)the altar of burnt offering with all its [al]utensils, and (AB)the basin and its stand, 10 the [am](AC)woven garments as well: the holy garments for Aaron the priest and the garments of his sons, with which to [an]carry out their priesthood; 11 (AD)the anointing oil also, and the (AE)fragrant incense for the Holy Place, they are to make them according to everything that I have commanded you.”

The Sign of the Sabbath

12 Now the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 13 “Now as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘(AF)You must keep My Sabbaths; for this is (AG)a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, so that you may know that I am the Lord who sanctifies you. 14 Therefore you are to keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you. (AH)Everyone who profanes it must be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people. 15 (AI)For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there is a (AJ)Sabbath of complete rest, holy to the Lord; (AK)whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. 16 So the sons of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to [ao]celebrate the Sabbath throughout their generations as a permanent covenant.’ 17 (AL)It is a sign between Me and the sons of Israel forever; (AM)for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, but on the seventh day He ceased from labor, and was refreshed.”

18 When He had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, He gave Moses (AN)the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, (AO)written by the finger of God.

Matthew 26:47-68

Jesus’ Betrayal and Arrest

47 (A)And while He was still speaking, behold, (B)Judas, one of the twelve, came [a]accompanied by a large crowd with swords and clubs, who came from the chief priests and elders of the people. 48 Now he who was betraying Him gave them a sign previously, saying, “Whomever I kiss, He is the one; arrest Him.” 49 And immediately Judas went up to Jesus and said, “Greetings, (C)Rabbi!” and kissed Him. 50 But Jesus said to him, (D)Friend, do what you have come for.” Then they came and laid hands on Jesus and arrested Him.

51 And behold, (E)one of those who were with Jesus [b]reached and drew his (F)sword, and struck the (G)slave of the high priest and [c]cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus *said to him, “Put your sword back into its place; for (H)all those who take up the sword will perish by the sword. 53 Or do you think that I cannot appeal to My Father, and He will at once put at My disposal more than twelve [d](I)legions of (J)angels? 54 How then would (K)the Scriptures be fulfilled, which say that it must happen this way?”

55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds, “Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest Me as you would against a man inciting a revolt? (L)Every day I used to sit within the temple grounds teaching, and you did not arrest Me. 56 But all this has taken place so that (M)the Scriptures of the prophets will be fulfilled.” Then all the disciples left Him and fled.

Jesus before Caiaphas

57 (N)Those who had arrested Jesus led Him away to (O)Caiaphas, the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were gathered together. 58 But (P)Peter was following Him at a distance, as far as the (Q)courtyard of the high priest, and he came inside and sat down with the [e](R)officers to see the outcome.

59 Now the chief priests and the entire [f](S)Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, so that they might put Him to death. 60 They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on (T)two came forward, 61 and said, “This man stated, ‘(U)I am able to destroy the [g]temple of God and to rebuild it [h]in three days.’” 62 The high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You offer no answer for what these men are testifying against You?” 63 But (V)Jesus kept silent. (W)And the high priest said to Him, “I (X)place You under oath by (Y)the living God, to tell us whether You are the [i]Christ, (Z)the Son of God.” 64 Jesus *said to him, (AA)You have said it yourself. But I tell you, from now on you will see (AB)the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of power, and (AC)coming on the clouds of heaven.”

65 Then the high priest (AD)tore his [j]robes and said, “He has blasphemed! What further need do we have of witnesses? See, you have now heard the blasphemy; 66 what do you think?” They answered, “(AE)He deserves death!”

67 (AF)Then they (AG)spit in His face and beat Him with their fists; and others [k]slapped Him, 68 and said, “(AH)Prophesy to us, You [l]Christ; who is the one who hit You?”

Psalm 32

Blessedness of Forgiveness and of Trust in God.

A Psalm of David. A [a]Maskil.

32 (A)How blessed is he whose wrongdoing is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
How blessed is a person whose guilt the Lord (B)does not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (C)no deceit!

When (D)I kept silent about my sin, (E)my [b]body wasted away
Through my [c](F)groaning all day long.
For day and night (G)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [d](H)vitality failed as with the dry heat of summer. Selah
I (I)acknowledged my sin to You,
And I (J)did not hide my guilt;
I said, “(K)I will confess my wrongdoings to the Lord”;
And You (L)forgave the guilt of my sin. Selah
Therefore, let everyone who is godly pray to You [e](M)in a time when You may be found;
Certainly (N)in a flood of great waters, they will not reach him.
You are (O)my hiding place; You (P)keep me from trouble;
You surround me with [f](Q)songs of deliverance. Selah

I will (R)instruct you and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will advise you (S)with My eye upon you.
Do not be (T)like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding,
Whose trappings include bit and bridle to hold them in check,
Otherwise they will not come near to you.
10 The (U)sorrows of the wicked are many,
But (V)the one who trusts in the Lord, goodness will surround him.
11 Be (W)glad in the Lord and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (X)upright in heart.

Proverbs 8:27-32

27 When He (A)established the heavens, I was there;
When (B)He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He made firm the skies above,
When the springs of the deep became [a]fixed,
29 When (C)He set a boundary for the sea
So that the water would not violate His [b]command,
When He marked out (D)the foundations of the earth;
30 Then (E)I was beside Him, as a master workman;
And I was His delight daily,
[c]Rejoicing always before Him,
31 [d]Rejoicing in the world, His earth,
And having (F)my delight in the sons of mankind.

32 “Now then, sons, (G)listen to me,
For (H)blessed are those who keep my ways.
