Bible in 90 Days
Job Repents in Dust and Ashes
42 Then Job answered Yahweh and said,
2 “I know that (A)You can do all things,
And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
3 ‘Who is this that (B)hides counsel without knowledge?’
Therefore I have declared that which I did not understand,
Things (C)too marvelous for me, which I did not know.
4 ‘Hear, now, and I will speak;
I will (D)ask You, and You make me know.’
5 I have (E)heard of You by the hearing of the ear;
But now my (F)eye sees You;
6 Therefore I reject myself,
And I repent in dust and ashes.”
Yahweh’s Anger Towards Job’s Friends
7 Now it happened after Yahweh had spoken these words to Job, that Yahweh said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “My anger burns against you and against your two friends because you have not spoken of Me what is right (G)as My servant Job has. 8 So now, take for yourselves (H)seven bulls and seven rams, and go to My servant Job, and offer up a (I)burnt offering for yourselves, and My servant Job will (J)pray for you. (K)For I will [a]accept him so that I may not do with you according to your folly, because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has.” 9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as Yahweh told them; and Yahweh [b]accepted Job.
Yahweh Restores Job’s Fortunes
10 And Yahweh (L)restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and Yahweh increased all that Job had twofold. 11 Then all his (M)brothers and all his sisters and all who had known him before came to him, and they ate bread with him in his house; and they (N)consoled him and comforted him for all the calamity that Yahweh had brought on him. And each one gave him one [c]qesitah, and each a ring of gold. 12 (O)And Yahweh blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; (P)and he had 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels and 1,000 pairs of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys. 13 (Q)He also had seven sons and three daughters. 14 And he named the first Jemimah and the second Keziah and the third Keren-happuch. 15 Now in all the land no women were found so beautiful as Job’s daughters; and their father gave them inheritance among their brothers. 16 And after this, Job lived 140 years and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations. 17 (R)Then Job died, an old man and full of days.
BOOK 1
The Way of the Righteous and Wicked
1 How blessed is the man who (S)does not walk in the (T)counsel of the wicked,
Nor stand in the (U)way of sinners,
Nor (V)sit in the seat of scoffers!
2 But his (W)delight is (X)in the law of [d]Yahweh,
And in His law he meditates (Y)day and (Z)night.
3 And he will be like (AA)a tree firmly planted by [e]streams of water,
Which yields its fruit in its season
And its [f]leaf does not wither;
And [g]in whatever he does, (AB)he prospers.
4 The wicked are not so,
But they are like (AC)chaff which the wind drives away.
5 Therefore (AD)the wicked will not rise in the (AE)judgment,
Nor sinners in (AF)the congregation of the righteous.
6 For Yahweh [h](AG)knows the way of the righteous,
But the way of (AH)the wicked will perish.
The Reign of Yahweh’s Anointed
2 Why do (AI)the [i]nations rage
And the peoples (AJ)meditate on a vain thing?
2 The (AK)kings of the earth take their stand
And the rulers take counsel together
(AL)Against Yahweh and against His [j](AM)Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us (AN)tear their fetters apart
And cast away their cords from us!”
4 He who [k]sits in the heavens (AO)laughs,
The Lord (AP)mocks them.
5 Then He speaks to them in His (AQ)anger
And (AR)terrifies them in His fury, saying,
6 “But as for Me, I have [l]installed (AS)My King
Upon Zion, (AT)My holy mountain.”
7 “I will surely tell of the [m]decree of Yahweh:
He said to Me, ‘You are (AU)My Son,
Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and (AV)I will surely give (AW)the [n]nations as Your inheritance,
And the (AX)ends of the earth as Your possession.
9 You shall [o](AY)break them with a [p]rod of iron,
You shall (AZ)shatter them like a potter’s vessel.’”
10 So now, O kings, (BA)show insight;
Take warning, O [q]judges of the earth.
11 Serve Yahweh with (BB)fear
And rejoice with (BC)trembling.
12 [r]Kiss (BD)the Son, lest He become angry, and you perish in the way,
For (BE)His [s]wrath may [t]soon be kindled.
How blessed are all who (BF)take refuge in Him!
Yahweh, Save Me
A Psalm of David. When [u]he fled from Absalom his son.
3 O Yahweh, how (BG)my adversaries have become many!
Many are rising up against me.
2 Many are saying [v]of my soul,
“There is no (BH)salvation for him in God.” [w]Selah.
3 But You, O Yahweh, are (BI)a shield about me,
My (BJ)glory, and the One who (BK)lifts my head.
4 I was calling to Yahweh with my voice,
And He (BL)answered me from (BM)His holy [x]mountain. Selah.
5 [y]I (BN)lay down and slept;
I awoke, for Yahweh sustains me.
6 I will (BO)not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who all around (BP)have set themselves against me.
7 (BQ)Arise, O Yahweh; (BR)save me, O my God!
For You have (BS)struck all my enemies on the [z]cheek;
You [aa]have (BT)shattered the teeth of the wicked.
8 [ab](BU)Salvation belongs to Yahweh;
Your (BV)blessing [ac]be upon Your people! Selah.
Yahweh Makes Me Abide in Safety
[ad]For the choir director. With stringed instruments. A Psalm of David.
4 (BW)Answer me when (BX)I call, O God [ae]of my righteousness!
You have [af](BY)relieved me in my distress;
Be (BZ)gracious to me and (CA)hear my prayer.
2 O sons of men, how long will (CB)my glory become (CC)a reproach?
How long will you love (CD)what is worthless and seek (CE)falsehood? [ag]Selah.
3 But know that Yahweh has [ah](CF)set apart the (CG)holy one for Himself;
Yahweh (CH)hears when I call to Him.
4 [ai](CI)Tremble, [aj](CJ)and do not sin;
[ak](CK)Ponder in your heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.
5 Offer [al]the (CL)sacrifices of righteousness,
And (CM)trust in Yahweh.
6 Many are saying, “(CN)Who will show us good?”
(CO)Lift up the light of Your face upon us, O Yahweh!
7 You have put (CP)gladness in my heart,
More than when their grain and new wine abound.
8 In peace I will [am]both (CQ)lie down and sleep,
For You alone, O Yahweh, make me to (CR)abide in safety.
Lead Me in Your Righteousness
For the choir director. For [an]the flutes. A Psalm of David.
5 (CS)Give ear to my words, O Yahweh,
Consider my (CT)meditation.
2 Give heed to (CU)the sound of my cry for help, (CV)my King and my God,
For to You I pray.
3 O Yahweh, in the morning, [ao]You will hear my voice;
In the (CW)morning I will order my [ap]prayer to You and eagerly (CX)watch.
4 For You are not a God (CY)who delights in wickedness;
(CZ)Evil does not sojourn with You.
5 The (DA)boastful shall not (DB)stand before Your eyes;
You (DC)hate all workers of iniquity.
6 You (DD)destroy those who speak falsehood;
Yahweh abhors (DE)the man of bloodshed and deceit.
7 But as for me, (DF)in the abundance of Your lovingkindness I will enter Your house,
[aq]At Your holy temple I will (DG)worship in (DH)fear of You.
8 O Yahweh, (DI)lead me (DJ)in Your righteousness (DK)because of [ar]my foes;
Make Your way [as]straight before me.
9 There is (DL)nothing [at]reliable in their mouth;
Their (DM)inward part is destruction itself.
Their (DN)throat is an open grave;
They [au]flatter with their tongue.
10 Hold them guilty, O God;
(DO)By their own devices let them fall!
In the abundance of their transgressions (DP)thrust them out,
For they are (DQ)rebellious against You.
11 But let all who (DR)take refuge in You (DS)be glad,
Let them ever sing for joy;
And [av]may You (DT)shelter them,
That those who (DU)love Your name may exult in You.
12 For it is You who (DV)blesses the righteous one, O Yahweh,
You (DW)surround him with favor as with a large shield.
Yahweh, Rescue My Soul
For the choir director. With stringed instruments. According to the [aw]Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
6 O Yahweh, (DX)do not reprove me in Your anger,
Nor discipline me in Your wrath.
2 Be gracious to me, O Yahweh, for I am (DY)pining away;
(DZ)Heal me, O Yahweh, for (EA)my bones are dismayed.
3 And my (EB)soul is greatly dismayed;
But You, O Yahweh—(EC)how long?
4 Return, O Yahweh, (ED)rescue my [ax]soul;
Save me because of Your lovingkindness.
5 For (EE)there is no remembrance of You in death;
In Sheol who will give You thanks?
6 I am (EF)weary with my sighing;
Every night I make my bed swim,
I flood my couch with (EG)my tears.
7 My (EH)eye has wasted away with grief;
It has become old because of all my adversaries.
8 (EI)Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity,
For Yahweh (EJ)has heard the sound of my weeping.
9 Yahweh (EK)has heard my supplication,
Yahweh (EL)receives my prayer.
10 All my enemies will (EM)be ashamed and greatly dismayed;
They shall [ay]turn back, they will (EN)suddenly be ashamed.
In You I Have Taken Refuge
A [az]Shiggaion of David, which he sang to Yahweh concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.
7 O Yahweh my God, (EO)in You I have taken refuge;
Save me from all those who pursue me, and (EP)deliver me,
2 Lest he tear [ba]my soul (EQ)like a lion,
Rending me in pieces, while there is none to deliver.
3 O Yahweh my God, if I have done this,
If there is (ER)injustice in my hands,
4 If I have (ES)rewarded evil to him who [bb]is at peace with me,
Or have (ET)plundered my adversary without cause,
5 Let the enemy pursue [bc]my soul and overtake [bd]it;
And let him trample my life down to the ground
And cause my glory to dwell in the dust. [be]Selah.
6 (EU)Arise, O Yahweh, in Your anger;
(EV)Lift up Yourself against (EW)the fury of my adversaries,
And (EX)arouse Yourself [bf]for me; You have appointed judgment.
7 Let the congregation of the (EY)peoples encompass You,
And over [bg]them return on high.
8 Yahweh (EZ)judges the peoples;
[bh](FA)Give justice to me, O Yahweh, according to my righteousness and my integrity that is in me.
9 O let (FB)the evil of the wicked come to an end, but (FC)establish the righteous;
For the righteous God (FD)tests the hearts and [bi]minds.
10 My (FE)shield is [bj]with God,
Who (FF)saves the upright in heart.
11 God is a (FG)righteous judge,
And a God who has (FH)indignation every day.
12 If [bk]a man (FI)does not repent, He will (FJ)sharpen His sword;
He has (FK)bent His bow and prepared it.
13 He has also prepared [bl]for Himself deadly weapons;
He makes His (FL)arrows fiery shafts.
14 Behold, he travails with wickedness,
And he (FM)conceives mischief and gives birth to falsehood.
15 He has dug a pit and hollowed it out,
And has (FN)fallen into the hole which he made.
16 His (FO)mischief will return upon his own head,
And his (FP)violence will descend upon [bm]his own skull.
17 I will give thanks to Yahweh (FQ)according to His righteousness
And will (FR)sing praise to the name of Yahweh Most High.
How Majestic Is Your Name
For the choir director. According to the Gittith. A Psalm of David.
8 O Yahweh, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth,
Who [bn](FS)displays Your splendor above the heavens!
2 (FT)From the mouth of infants and nursing babies You have established [bo](FU)strength
Because of Your adversaries,
To make (FV)the enemy and the revengeful cease.
3 When I (FW)see (FX)Your heavens, the work of Your fingers,
The (FY)moon and the stars, which You have established;
4 (FZ)What is man that You remember him,
And the son of man that You care for him?
5 Yet You have made him a (GA)little lower than the [bp]angels,
And (GB)You crown him with (GC)glory and majesty!
6 You make him to (GD)rule over the works of Your hands;
You have (GE)put all things under his feet,
7 All sheep and oxen,
And also the animals of the field,
8 The birds of the heavens and the fish of the sea,
Whatever passes through the paths of the seas.
9 (GF)O Yahweh, our Lord,
How majestic is Your name in all the earth!

All his [cl]thoughts are, “(HZ)There is no God.”

Your judgments are on high, (IB)out of his sight;

Yahweh Is in His Holy Temple
For the choir director. Of David.
11 In Yahweh I (JF)take refuge;
How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your (JG)mountain;
2 For, behold, the wicked (JH)bend the bow,
They [da](JI)make ready their arrow upon the string
To (JJ)shoot in darkness at the upright in heart.
3 If the (JK)foundations are destroyed,
What can the righteous do?”
4 Yahweh is in His (JL)holy temple; [db]Yahweh’s (JM)throne is in heaven;
His (JN)eyes behold, His eyelids test the sons of men.
5 Yahweh (JO)tests the righteous,
But (JP)the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
6 May He (JQ)rain [dc]snares upon the wicked;
(JR)Fire and brimstone and (JS)burning wind will be the portion of (JT)their cup.
7 For Yahweh is (JU)righteous, (JV)He loves [dd]righteousness;
The upright will (JW)behold His face.
Yahweh Will Set the Needy in Safety
For the choir director. According to the [de]Sheminith. A Psalm of David.
12 Save, O Yahweh, for (JX)the holy man ceases to be,
For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
2 They (JY)speak worthlessness to one another;
With a (JZ)flattering lip and with a double heart they speak.
3 May Yahweh cut off all flattering lips,
The tongue that (KA)speaks great things;
4 Who (KB)have said, “With our tongue we will prevail;
Our lips are [df]our own; who is lord over us?”
5 “Because of the (KC)devastation of the afflicted, because of the groaning of the needy,
Now (KD)I will arise,” says Yahweh; “I will (KE)set him in the [dg]safety for which he [dh]longs.”
6 The (KF)words of Yahweh are pure words;
As silver (KG)tried in a furnace on the ground, refined seven times.
7 You, O Yahweh, will keep them;
You will (KH)guard him from this generation forever.
8 The (KI)wicked strut about on every side
When [di](KJ)vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
How Long, O Yahweh?
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
13 How long, O Yahweh? Will You (KK)forget me forever?
How long (KL)will You hide Your face from me?
2 How long shall I (KM)take counsel in my soul,
Having (KN)sorrow in my heart all the day?
How long will my enemy be exalted over me?
3 (KO)Look and answer me, O Yahweh my God;
(KP)Give light to my eyes, lest I (KQ)sleep the sleep of death,
4 Lest my enemy (KR)says, “I have overcome him,”
And (KS)my adversaries rejoice that I am shaken.
5 But I have (KT)trusted in Your lovingkindness;
My heart shall (KU)rejoice in Your salvation.
6 I will (KV)sing to Yahweh,
Because He has (KW)dealt bountifully with me.
There Is No One Who Does Good
For the choir director. Of David.
14 The [dj]wicked fool (KX)says in his heart, “There is no God.”
They act corruptly, they commit abominable [dk]deeds;
There is (KY)no one who does good.
2 Yahweh (KZ)looks down from heaven upon the sons of men
To see if there is anyone who [dl](LA)has insight,
Anyone who (LB)seeks after God.
3 They have all (LC)turned aside, altogether they have become [dm]worthless;
There is (LD)no one who does good, not even one.
4 Do all the workers of iniquity (LE)not know,
Who (LF)eat up my people as they eat bread,
And (LG)do not call upon Yahweh?
5 There they are in great dread,
For God is with the (LH)righteous generation.
6 You would put to shame the counsel of the afflicted,
But Yahweh is his (LI)refuge.
7 Oh, that (LJ)the salvation of Israel [dn]would come out of Zion!
When Yahweh [do](LK)restores His captive people,
May Jacob rejoice, may Israel be glad.
Who May Dwell on Your Holy Mountain?
A Psalm of David.
15 O Yahweh, who may [dp]sojourn (LL)in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your (LM)holy mountain?
2 He who (LN)walks blamelessly, and works righteousness,
And (LO)speaks truth in his heart.
3 He (LP)does not slander [dq]with his tongue,
Nor (LQ)does evil to his neighbor,
Nor (LR)takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 In [dr]whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But [ds]who (LS)honors those who fear Yahweh;
He (LT)swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 He (LU)does not put out his money [dt]at interest,
Nor (LV)does he take a bribe against the innocent.
(LW)He who does these things will never be shaken.
You Will Not Forsake My Soul
A [du]Mikhtam of David.
16 (LX)Keep me, O God, for (LY)I take refuge in You.
2 O my soul, you have said to Yahweh, “You are [dv]my Lord;
I (LZ)have no good without You.”
3 As for the [dw](MA)saints who are in the earth,
They are the majestic ones (MB)in whom is all my delight.
4 The [dx](MC)pains of those who have [dy]bartered for another god will be multiplied;
I shall not pour out their drink offerings of (MD)blood,
Nor will I (ME)take their names upon my lips.
5 Yahweh is the (MF)portion of my inheritance and my (MG)cup;
You support my (MH)lot.
6 The (MI)lines have fallen to me in pleasant places;
Indeed, my inheritance is (MJ)beautiful to me.
7 I will bless Yahweh who has (MK)counseled me;
Indeed, my [dz](ML)mind instructs me in the night.
8 (MM)I have (MN)set Yahweh continually before me;
Because He is (MO)at my right hand, (MP)I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore (MQ)my heart is glad and (MR)my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will (MS)dwell securely.
10 For You (MT)will not forsake my soul to Sheol;
You will not (MU)give Your [ea]Holy One over to see [eb]corruption.
11 You will make known to me (MV)the path of life;
In (MW)Your presence is fullness of joy;
In Your right hand there are (MX)pleasures forever.
In the Shadow of Your Wings
A Prayer of David.
17 Hear a (MY)righteous cause, O Yahweh, (MZ)give heed to my cry of lamentation;
(NA)Give ear to my prayer, which is not from (NB)deceitful lips.
2 May (NC)my [ec]judgment come from Your presence;
May Your eyes behold (ND)what is upright.
3 You have (NE)tested my heart;
You have visited me by night;
You have (NF)tried me and (NG)You find [ed]nothing;
I have (NH)purposed that my mouth will not [ee]transgress.
4 As for the deeds of men, (NI)by the word of Your lips
I have kept from the (NJ)paths of the violent.
5 My (NK)steps have held fast to Your [ef]paths.
My (NL)footsteps have not stumbled.
6 I have (NM)called upon You, for You will answer me, O God;
(NN)Incline Your ear to me, hear my speech.
7 (NO)Marvelously show Your lovingkindnesses,
O (NP)Savior of those who take refuge [eg]at Your right hand
From those who rise up against them.
8 Keep me as [eh]the (NQ)apple of the eye;
Hide me (NR)in the shadow of Your wings
9 From the (NS)wicked who devastate me,
My (NT)deadly enemies who surround me.
10 They have (NU)closed their [ei]unfeeling heart,
With their mouth they (NV)speak proudly.
11 They have now (NW)surrounded us in our steps;
They set their eyes (NX)to cast us down to the ground.
12 He is (NY)like a lion that is eager to tear,
And as a young lion (NZ)lurking in hiding places.
13 (OA)Arise, O Yahweh, confront him, (OB)bring him low;
(OC)Protect my soul from the wicked with (OD)Your sword,
14 From men with (OE)Your hand, O Yahweh,
From men [ej]of the world, (OF)whose portion is in this life,
And whose belly You (OG)fill with Your treasure;
They are satisfied with children,
And leave their excess to their infants.
15 As for me, I shall (OH)behold Your face in righteousness;
(OI)I will be satisfied [ek]with Your (OJ)likeness when I awake.
Yahweh Is My Rock and My Fortress
For the choir director. Of the servant of Yahweh, of David, [el]who spoke to Yahweh the words of this song in the day that Yahweh delivered him from the hand of all his enemies and from the hand of Saul.
18 He said, “I love You, O Yahweh, (OK)my strength.”
2 Yahweh is (OL)my [em]rock and (OM)my fortress and my (ON)deliverer,
My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
My (OO)shield and the (OP)horn of my salvation, my (OQ)stronghold.
3 I call upon Yahweh, who is (OR)worthy to be praised,
And I am (OS)saved from my enemies.
4 The (OT)cords of death encompassed me,
And the (OU)torrents of vileness [en]terrified me.
5 The (OV)cords of Sheol surrounded me;
The snares of death confronted me.
6 In my (OW)distress I called upon Yahweh,
And cried to my God for help;
He heard my voice (OX)out of His temple,
And my (OY)cry for help before Him came into His ears.
7 Then the (OZ)earth shook and quaked;
And the (PA)foundations of the mountains were trembling
And were shaken, because He was angry.
8 Smoke went up [eo]out of His nostrils,
And (PB)fire from His mouth devoured;
Coals were kindled by it.
9 He (PC)bowed the heavens and came down
With thick (PD)darkness under His feet.
10 He rode upon a (PE)cherub and flew;
And He sped upon the (PF)wings of the wind.
11 He made (PG)darkness His hiding place, (PH)His [ep]canopy around Him,
Darkness of waters, thick clouds of the skies.
12 From the (PI)brightness before Him passed His thick clouds,
Hailstones and (PJ)coals of fire.
13 Yahweh also (PK)thundered in the heavens,
And the Most High gave forth His voice,
Hailstones and coals of fire.
14 He (PL)sent out His arrows, and scattered them,
And lightning flashes in abundance, and [eq]threw them into confusion.
15 Then the (PM)channels of water appeared,
And the foundations of the world were [er]laid bare
At Your (PN)rebuke, O Yahweh,
At the blast of the (PO)breath of Your nostrils.
16 He (PP)sent from on high, He took me;
He drew me out of (PQ)many waters.
17 He (PR)delivered me from my strong enemy,
And from those who hated me, for they were (PS)too mighty for me.
18 They confronted me in (PT)the day of my disaster,
But (PU)Yahweh was my support.
19 He brought me forth also into a (PV)broad place;
He rescued me, because (PW)He delighted in me.
20 Yahweh has (PX)rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the (PY)cleanness of my hands He has recompensed me.
21 For I have (PZ)kept the ways of Yahweh,
And have (QA)not wickedly departed from my God.
22 For all (QB)His judgments were before me,
And I did not put away His (QC)statutes from me.
23 I was also [es](QD)blameless with Him,
And I (QE)kept myself from my iniquity.
24 Therefore Yahweh has (QF)recompensed me according to my righteousness,
According to the cleanness of my hands before His eyes.
25 With (QG)the [et]kind You show Yourself kind;
With the blameless (QH)You show Yourself blameless;
26 With the pure You show Yourself (QI)pure,
And with the crooked (QJ)You show Yourself [eu]astute.
27 For You (QK)save an afflicted people,
But (QL)eyes which are lifted up, You bring down.
28 For You (QM)light my lamp;
Yahweh my God (QN)illumines my darkness.
29 For by You I can [ev](QO)run upon a troop;
And by my God I can (QP)leap over a wall.
30 As for God, His way is [ew](QQ)blameless;
The (QR)word of Yahweh is [ex]tried;
He is a (QS)shield to all who take refuge in Him.
31 For (QT)who is God, but Yahweh?
And who is a (QU)rock, except our God,
32 The God who (QV)girds me with strength
And [ey]makes my way [ez](QW)blameless?
33 He (QX)makes my feet like hinds’ feet,
And (QY)sets me upon my high places.
34 He (QZ)trains my hands for battle,
So that my arms can (RA)bend a bow of bronze.
35 You have also given me (RB)the shield of Your salvation,
And Your (RC)right hand upholds me;
And (RD)Your [fa]gentleness makes me great.
36 You (RE)enlarge my steps under me,
And my (RF)ankles have not given way.
37 I (RG)pursued my enemies and overtook them,
And I did not turn back (RH)until they were consumed.
38 I crushed them, so that they were (RI)not able to rise;
They fell (RJ)under my feet.
39 For You have (RK)girded me with strength for battle;
You have [fb](RL)subdued under me those who rose up against me.
40 [fc]You have also made my enemies (RM)turn their backs to me,
And I [fd](RN)destroyed those who hated me.
41 They cried for help, but there was (RO)none to save,
Even to Yahweh, but (RP)He did not answer them.
42 Then I beat them fine as the (RQ)dust before the wind;
I emptied them out as the mire of the streets.
43 You have delivered me from the (RR)contentions of the people;
You have placed me as (RS)head of the nations;
A (RT)people whom I have not known serve me.
44 As soon as they hear, they obey me;
Foreigners [fe](RU)cower before me.
45 Foreigners (RV)fade away,
And (RW)come trembling out of their [ff]fortresses.
46 Yahweh (RX)lives, and blessed be (RY)my rock;
And let (RZ)the God of my salvation be lifted high,
47 The God who (SA)executes vengeance for me,
And (SB)subdues peoples under me.
48 Who (SC)delivers me from my enemies;
Surely You (SD)lift me above those who rise up against me;
You rescue me from the (SE)violent man.
49 Therefore I will (SF)give thanks to You among the nations, O Yahweh,
And I will (SG)sing praises to Your name.
50 He gives great [fg](SH)salvation to His king,
And shows lovingkindness to (SI)His anointed,
To David and (SJ)his seed forever.
The Law of Yahweh Is Perfect
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
19 The (SK)heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And the (SL)expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
2 Day to (SM)day pours forth [fh]speech,
And (SN)night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no [fi]speech, nor are there words;
Their voice is not heard.
4 Their [fj](SO)line has gone out through all the earth,
And their utterances to the end of the world.
In them He has (SP)placed a tent for the sun,
5 Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber;
It rejoices as a strong man to run his course.
6 Its (SQ)rising is from [fk]one end of the heavens,
And its circuit to the [fl]other end of them;
And there is nothing hidden from its heat.
7 (SR)The law of Yahweh is [fm](SS)perfect, (ST)restoring the soul;
The testimony of Yahweh is (SU)sure, making (SV)wise the simple.
8 The precepts of Yahweh are (SW)right, (SX)rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of Yahweh is (SY)pure, (SZ)enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of Yahweh is clean, enduring forever;
The judgments of Yahweh are (TA)true; they are (TB)righteous altogether.
10 They are more desirable than (TC)gold, even more than much fine gold;
(TD)Sweeter also than honey and the drippings of the honeycomb.
11 Moreover, by them (TE)Your slave is warned;
In keeping them there is great (TF)reward.
12 Who can (TG)discern his errors? (TH)Acquit me of (TI)hidden faults.
13 Also keep back Your slave (TJ)from presumptuous sins;
Let them not (TK)rule over me;
Then I will be [fn](TL)blameless,
And I shall be acquitted of (TM)great transgression.
14 Let the [fo]words of my mouth and (TN)the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Yahweh, (TO)my rock and my (TP)Redeemer.
We Will Boast in the Name of Yahweh
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
20 May Yahweh answer you (TQ)in the day of distress!
May the (TR)name of the (TS)God of Jacob set you securely on high!
2 May He send you help (TT)from the sanctuary
And (TU)uphold you from Zion!
3 May He (TV)remember all your meal offerings
And (TW)find your burnt offering [fp]acceptable! [fq]Selah.
4 May He grant you your (TX)heart’s desire
And (TY)fulfill all your [fr]counsel!
5 [fs]We will (TZ)sing for joy over your salvation,
And in the name of our God we will (UA)set up our banners.
May Yahweh (UB)fulfill all your petitions.
6 Now (UC)I know that Yahweh saves His anointed;
He will (UD)answer him from His holy heaven
With the [ft](UE)saving might of His right hand.
7 Some boast in chariots and some in (UF)horses,
But (UG)we will [fu]boast in the name of Yahweh, our God.
8 They have (UH)bowed down and fallen,
But we have (UI)risen and stood upright.
9 [fv](UJ)Save, O Yahweh;
May the (UK)King answer us in the day we call.
The King Trusts in Yahweh
For the choir director. A Psalm of David.
21 O Yahweh, in Your strength the king will (UL)be glad,
And in Your [fw]salvation how greatly he will rejoice!
2 You have (UM)given him his heart’s desire,
And You have not withheld the request of his lips. [fx]Selah.
3 For You (UN)meet him with the blessings of good things;
You set a (UO)crown of fine gold on his head.
4 He asked life of You,
You (UP)gave it to him,
(UQ)Length of days forever and ever.
5 His (UR)glory is great through Your [fy]salvation,
(US)Splendor and majesty You bestow upon him.
6 For You make him [fz]most (UT)blessed forever;
You make him joyful (UU)with gladness in Your presence.
7 For the king (UV)trusts in Yahweh,
And through the lovingkindness of the Most High (UW)he will not be shaken.
8 Your hand will (UX)find out all your enemies;
Your right hand will find out those who hate you.
9 You will make them (UY)as a fiery oven in the time of your [ga]anger;
Yahweh will (UZ)swallow them up in His wrath,
And (VA)fire will devour them.
10 Their [gb]offspring You will destroy from the earth,
And their (VB)seed from among the sons of men.
11 Though they [gc](VC)intended evil against You
And (VD)devised a scheme,
They will not succeed.
12 For You will (VE)make them turn their back;
You will [gd]aim (VF)with Your bowstrings at their faces.
13 Be exalted, O Yahweh, in Your strength;
We will (VG)sing and praise Your might.
Why Have You Forsaken Me?
For the choir director. According to [ge]Aijeleth Hashshahar. A Psalm of David.
22 (VH)My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?
[gf](VI)Far from my salvation are the words of my [gg](VJ)groaning.
2 O my God, I (VK)call by day, but You do not answer;
And by night, but [gh]I have no rest.
3 Yet (VL)You are holy,
[gi]Enthroned upon (VM)the praises of Israel.
4 In You our fathers (VN)trusted;
They trusted and You (VO)rescued them.
5 To You they cried out and were granted escape;
(VP)In You they trusted and were not [gj]disappointed.
6 But I am a (VQ)worm and not a man,
A (VR)reproach of men and (VS)despised by the people.
7 All who see me (VT)mock me;
They [gk]smack their lip, they (VU)wag their head, saying,
8 “[gl]Commit yourself to Yahweh; (VV)let Him rescue him;
Let Him deliver him, because He delights in him.”
9 Yet You are He who (VW)brought me out of the womb;
You made me trust when upon my mother’s breasts.
10 Upon You I was cast (VX)from [gm]birth;
You have been my God from my mother’s womb.
11 (VY)Be not far from me, for [gn]distress is near;
For there is (VZ)none to help.
12 Many (WA)bulls have surrounded me;
Strong bulls of (WB)Bashan have encircled me.
13 They (WC)open wide their mouth at me,
As a (WD)lion that tears and roars.
14 I am (WE)poured out like water,
And all my (WF)bones are out of joint;
My (WG)heart is like wax;
It is melted within [go]me.
15 My (WH)strength is dried up like a potsherd,
And (WI)my tongue cleaves to my jaws;
And You (WJ)lay me [gp]in the dust of death.
16 For (WK)dogs have surrounded me;
[gq]A band of evildoers has encompassed me;
[gr]They (WL)pierced my hands and my feet.
17 I count all my bones.
(WM)They look, they stare at me;
18 They (WN)divide my garments among them,
And for my clothing they cast lots.
19 But You, O Yahweh, (WO)be not far off;
O my Strength, (WP)hasten to my help.
20 Deliver my [gs]soul from (WQ)the sword,
My (WR)only life from the [gt]power of the dog.
21 Save me from the mouth of the (WS)lion;
From the horns of the (WT)wild oxen You (WU)have answered me.
22 I will surely (WV)recount Your name to my brothers;
In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.
23 (WW)You who fear Yahweh, praise Him;
All you seed of Jacob, (WX)glorify Him,
And (WY)stand in awe of Him, all you seed of Israel.
24 For He has (WZ)not despised and He has not abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
And He has not (XA)hidden His face from him;
But (XB)when he cried to Him for help, He heard.
25 Of You is (XC)my praise in the great assembly;
I shall (XD)pay my vows before those who fear Him.
26 The [gu]afflicted will eat and (XE)be satisfied;
Those who seek Him will (XF)praise Yahweh.
May your (XG)heart live forever!
27 All the (XH)ends of the earth will remember and turn to Yahweh,
And all the (XI)families of the nations will worship before [gv]You.
28 For the (XJ)kingdom is Yahweh’s
And He (XK)rules over the nations.
29 All the [gw](XL)prosperous of the earth will eat and worship,
All those who (XM)go down to the dust will bow before Him,
Even he who [gx](XN)cannot keep his soul alive.
30 (XO)Their seed will serve Him;
It will be recounted about the Lord to (XP)the coming generation.
31 They will come and (XQ)will declare His righteousness
To a people (XR)who will be born, that He has done it.
Yahweh Is My Shepherd
A Psalm of David.
23 Yahweh is my (XS)shepherd,
I [gy]shall (XT)not want.
2 He makes me lie down in (XU)green pastures;
He (XV)leads me beside [gz](XW)quiet waters.
3 He (XX)restores my soul;
He (XY)guides me in the [ha](XZ)paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
4 Even though I (YA)walk through the [hb]valley of the shadow of death,
I (YB)fear no [hc]evil, for (YC)You are with me;
Your (YD)rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You (YE)prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You [hd]have (YF)anointed my head with oil;
My (YG)cup overflows.
6 [he]Surely (YH)goodness and lovingkindness will [hf]pursue me all the days of my life,
And I will [hg](YI)dwell in the house of Yahweh [hh]forever.
The King of Glory
Of David. A Psalm.
24 The (YJ)earth is Yahweh’s, as well as its fullness,
The (YK)world, and those who dwell in it.
2 For He has (YL)founded it upon the seas
And established it upon the rivers.
3 Who may (YM)ascend into the (YN)mountain of Yahweh?
And who may rise in His holy (YO)place?
4 He who has (YP)innocent hands and a (YQ)pure heart,
Who has not (YR)lifted up his soul [hi]to worthlessness
And has not (YS)sworn deceitfully.
5 He shall lift up a (YT)blessing from Yahweh
And [hj](YU)righteousness from the God of his salvation.
6 [hk]This is the generation of those who (YV)seek Him,
Who seek Your face—pay heed O Jacob. [hl]Selah.
7 (YW)Lift up your heads, O gates,
And be lifted up, O [hm]ancient doors,
That the King of (YX)glory may come in!
8 Who is this King of glory?
Yahweh (YY)strong and mighty,
Yahweh (YZ)mighty in battle.
9 Lift up your heads, O gates,
And lift yourselves up, O [hn]ancient doors,
That the King of (ZA)glory may come in!
10 Who is He, this King of glory?
Yahweh of (ZB)hosts,
He is the King of glory. Selah.
