Psalm 148-150

Praise Yahweh!

148 [a]Praise Yah!
Praise Yahweh (A)from the heavens;
Praise Him (B)in the heights!
Praise Him, (C)all His angels;
Praise Him, (D)all His hosts!
Praise Him, sun and moon;
Praise Him, all stars of light!
Praise Him, (E)heavens of heavens,
And the (F)waters that are above the heavens!
Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
For (G)He commanded and they were created.
He caused them to (H)stand forever and ever;
He gave a (I)statute and it will never pass away.

Praise Yahweh from the earth,
(J)Sea monsters and all (K)deeps;
(L)Fire and hail, (M)snow and (N)clouds;
(O)Stormy wind, (P)doing His word;
(Q)Mountains and all hills;
Fruit (R)trees and all cedars;
10 (S)Beasts and all cattle;
(T)Creeping things and winged bird;
11 (U)Kings of the earth and all peoples;
Princes and all [b]judges of the earth;
12 Both choice men as well as virgins;
The old with the young.

13 Let them praise the name of Yahweh,
For His (V)name alone is set on high;
His (W)splendor is above earth and heaven.
14 And He has (X)raised up a horn for His people,
(Y)Praise for all His holy ones;
For the sons of Israel, a people (Z)near to Him.
[c]Praise Yah!

Yahweh Takes Pleasure in His People

149 [d]Praise Yah!
Sing to Yahweh a (AA)new song,
His praise (AB)in the assembly of the holy ones.
Let Israel be glad in (AC)his Maker;
Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their (AD)King.
Let them praise His name with (AE)dancing;
With (AF)tambourine and lyre let them sing praises to Him.
For Yahweh (AG)takes pleasure in His people;
He will (AH)beautify the afflicted ones with salvation.

Let the (AI)holy ones exult in glory;
Let them (AJ)sing for joy on their beds.
Let the (AK)exaltations of God be in their throats,
And a (AL)two-edged (AM)sword in their hand,
To (AN)execute vengeance on the nations
And punishments on the peoples,
To bind their kings (AO)with chains
And their (AP)honored men with fetters of iron,
To (AQ)execute on them the judgment written;
This is the (AR)majesty of all His holy ones.
[e]Praise Yah!

Praise Him, Praise Yah!

150 [f]Praise Yah!
Praise God in His (AS)sanctuary;
Praise Him in His mighty [g](AT)expanse.
Praise Him for His (AU)mighty deeds;
Praise Him according to the abundance of His (AV)greatness.

Praise Him with (AW)trumpet blast;
Praise Him with (AX)harp and lyre.
Praise Him with (AY)tambourine and dancing;
Praise Him with (AZ)stringed instruments and (BA)pipe.
Praise Him with resounding (BB)cymbals;
Praise Him with clashing cymbals.
Let (BC)everything that has breath praise Yah.
[h]Praise Yah!

Psalm 114-115

When Israel Went Out from Egypt

114 When Israel went out (A)from Egypt,
The house of Jacob from a people of (B)strange language,
Judah became (C)His sanctuary,
Israel, (D)His dominion.

The (E)sea looked and fled;
The (F)Jordan turned back.
The mountains (G)skipped like rams,
The hills, like lambs.
What (H)disturbs you, O sea, that you flee?
O Jordan, that you turn back?
O mountains, that you skip like rams?
O hills, like lambs?

(I)Tremble, O earth, before the Lord,
Before the God of Jacob,
Who (J)turned the rock into a (K)pool of water,
The (L)flint into a spring of water.

To Yahweh’s Name Give Glory

115 (M)Not to us, O Yahweh, not to us,
But (N)to Your name give glory
Because of Your lovingkindness, because of Your [a]truth.
(O)Why should the nations say,
(P)Where, now, is their God?”
But our (Q)God is in the heavens;
He (R)does whatever He pleases.
Their (S)idols are silver and gold,
The (T)work of man’s hands.
They have mouths, but they (U)do not speak;
They have eyes, but they do not see;
They have ears, but they do not hear;
They have noses, but they do not smell;
As for their hands, they do not feel;
As for their feet, they do not walk;
They do not make a sound with their throat.
(V)Those who make them [b]will become like them,
Everyone who trusts in them.

O (W)Israel, (X)trust in Yahweh;
He is their (Y)help and their shield.
10 O house of (Z)Aaron, trust in Yahweh;
He is their help and their shield.
11 You who [c](AA)fear Yahweh, trust in Yahweh;
He is their help and their shield.
12 Yahweh (AB)remembered us; He will bless!
He will bless the house of Israel.
He will bless the house of Aaron.
13 He will (AC)bless those who [d]fear Yahweh,
(AD)The small together with the great.
14 May Yahweh (AE)give you increase,
You and your children.
15 May you be blessed of Yahweh,
(AF)Who made heaven and earth.

16 The heavens are (AG)the heavens of Yahweh,
But (AH)the earth He has given to the sons of men.
17 It is not the (AI)dead that praise Yah,
And it is none of those who go down to (AJ)silence;
18 But as for us, we will (AK)bless Yah
From now until forever.
[e]Praise Yah!

Isaiah 43:14-44:5

Rivers in the Wasteland

14 Thus says Yahweh your (A)Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel,

“For your sake I have sent to Babylon,
And will bring down those who fled—all of them,
[a]Even the (B)Chaldeans—into the (C)ships [b]in which they shouted for joy.
15 I am Yahweh, your Holy One,
(D)The Creator of Israel, your (E)King.”

16 Thus says Yahweh,

Who (F)makes a way through the sea
And a path through the mighty waters,
17 Who brings forth the (G)chariot and the horse,
The military force and the mighty man;
They will lie down together and not rise again;
They have been (H)extinguished and quenched like a wick:
18 (I)Do not remember the former things,
Nor carefully consider things of the past.
19 Behold, I will do something (J)new;
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not know it?
I will even (K)make a roadway in the wilderness,
Rivers in the wasteland.
20 The beasts of the field will glorify Me,
The (L)jackals and the ostriches,
Because I have (M)given waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the wasteland,
To give drink to My chosen people.
21 The people whom (N)I formed for Myself
(O)Will recount My praise.

22 “Yet you have not called on Me, O Jacob;
But you have become (P)weary of Me, O Israel.
23 You have (Q)not brought to Me the sheep of your burnt offerings,
Nor have you (R)glorified Me with your sacrifices.
I have not (S)burdened you with [c]offerings,
Nor wearied you with (T)frankincense.
24 You have not bought Me [d](U)sweet cane with money,
Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices;
Rather you have burdened Me with your sins;
You have (V)wearied Me with your iniquities.

25 “I, even I, am the one who (W)wipes out your transgressions (X)for My own sake,
And I will (Y)not remember your sins.
26 [e]Bring Me to remembrance, (Z)let us enter into judgment together;
Recount your cause, (AA)that you may be proved right.
27 Your (AB)first father sinned,
And your [f](AC)spokesmen have [g]transgressed against Me.
28 So I will [h]profane the [i]princes of the sanctuary,
And I will give Jacob to be (AD)devoted to destruction and Israel to (AE)revilement.

No God Besides Yahweh

44 “But now hear, O Jacob, My (AF)servant,
And Israel, whom I have chosen:
Thus says Yahweh who made you
And (AG)formed you from the womb, who (AH)will help you,
(AI)Do not fear, O Jacob My servant,
And you (AJ)Jeshurun whom I have chosen.
For (AK)I will pour out water on [j]the thirsty ground
And streams on the dry land;
I will (AL)pour out My Spirit on your (AM)seed
And My blessing on your offspring;
And they will spring up [k]among the grass
Like (AN)poplars by streams of water.’
This one will say, ‘I am Yahweh’s’;
And this one [l]will call on the name of Jacob;
And this one will (AO)write [m]on his hand, ‘Belonging to Yahweh,’
And will name Israel’s name with honor.

Hebrews 6:17-7:10

17 [a]In the same way God, desiring even more to show to (A)the heirs of the promise (B)the unchangeableness of His purpose, guaranteed it with an oath, 18 so that by two unchangeable things in which (C)it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge would have strong encouragement to take hold of (D)the hope set before us. 19 [b]This (E)hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and confirmed and one which (F)enters [c]within the veil, 20 (G)where a forerunner has entered for us—Jesus, having become a (H)high priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.

The Priesthoods of Melchizedek and Christ

For this (I)Melchizedek, king of Salem, priest of the (J)Most High God, who met Abraham as he was returning from the slaughter of the kings and blessed him, (K)to whom also Abraham apportioned a tenth part of all, was first of all, by the translation of his name, king of righteousness, and then also king of Salem, which is king of peace. Without father, without mother, (L)without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like (M)the Son of God, he remains a priest continually.

Now observe how great this man was to whom Abraham, the (N)patriarch, (O)gave a tenth of the spoils. And those indeed of (P)the sons of Levi, who receive the priest’s office, have a commandment [d]in the Law to collect [e]a tenth from the people, that is, from their brothers, although these [f]are descended from Abraham. But the one (Q)whose genealogy is not traced from them had (R)collected [g]a tenth from Abraham and [h](S)blessed the one who (T)had the promises. But without any dispute the lesser is blessed by the greater. And in this case mortal men receive tithes, but in that case one receives them, (U)of whom it is witnessed that he lives on. And, so to speak, through Abraham even Levi, who received tithes, paid tithes, 10 for he was still in the loins of his father when Melchizedek met him.

John 4:27-42

27 And at this point His (A)disciples came, and they were marveling that He was speaking with a woman, yet no one said, “What do You seek?” or, “Why are You speaking with her?” 28 So the woman left her water jar, and went into the city and *said to the men, 29 “Come, see a man (B)who told me all the things that I have done; (C)is this not the [a]Christ?” 30 They went out of the city, and were coming to Him.

31 Meanwhile the disciples were urging Him, saying, “(D)Rabbi, eat.” 32 But He said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know about.” 33 So the (E)disciples were saying to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” 34 Jesus *said to them, “My food is to (F)do the will of Him who sent Me and to (G)finish His work. 35 Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white (H)for harvest. 36 Even now he who reaps is receiving (I)wages and is gathering (J)fruit for (K)life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. 37 For in this case the saying is true, ‘(L)One sows and another reaps.’ 38 I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.”

Many Samaritans Believe

39 From (M)that city many of the Samaritans believed in Him because of the word of the woman who bore witness, “(N)He told me all the things that I have done.” 40 So when the Samaritans came to Jesus, they were asking Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. 41 And many more believed because of His word; 42 and they were saying to the woman, “It is no longer because of what you said that we believe, for we have heard for ourselves and know that this One is truly (O)the Savior of the world.”
