¹⁷ “The ^[a]afflicted and needy are seeking ^(A)water, but there is none,
And their tongue is parched with thirst;
I, Yahweh, ^(B)will answer them Myself,
As the God of Israel I ^(C)will not forsake them.
¹⁸ I will open ^(D)rivers on the bare heights
And springs in the midst of the valleys;
I will make ^(E)the wilderness a pool of water
And the dry land fountains of water.

²¹ And they did not ^(A)thirst when He led them through the waste places.
He ^(B)made the water flow out of the rock for them;
He split the rock, and ^(C)the water gushed forth.
