131 1 David charged with ambition and greedy desire to reign, protesteth his humility and modesty before God, and teacheth all men what they should do.
A song of degrees, or Psalm of David.
1 Lord, [a]mine heart is not haughty, neither are mine eyes lofty, neither have I walked in great [b]matters and hid from me.
2 Surely I have behaved myself, like one weaned from his mother, and kept silence: I am in myself as one that is [c]weaned.
3 Let Israel wait on the Lord from henceforth and forever.
132 1 The faithful grounding on God’s promise made unto David, desire that he would establish the same, both as touching his posterity, and the building of the Temple, to pray there as was forspoken, Deut. 12:5.
A song of degrees.
1 Lord, remember David with all his [d]affliction,
2 Who sware unto the Lord, and vowed unto the mighty God, of Jacob, saying,
3 I [e]will not enter into the Tabernacle of mine house, nor come upon my pallet or bed,
4 Nor suffer mine eyes to sleep, nor mine eyelids to slumber,
5 Until I find out a place for the [f]Lord, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob.
6 Lo, we heard of it in [g]Ephrathah, and found it in the fields of the forest.
7 We will enter into his Tabernacles, and worship before his footstool.
8 Arise, O Lord, to come into thy [h]rest, thou, and the Ark of thy strength.
9 Let thy Priests be clothed with [i]righteousness, and let thy Saints rejoice.
10 For thy [j]servant David’s sake refuse not the face of thine Anointed.
11 The Lord hath sworn in truth unto David, and he will not shrink from it, saying, Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.
12 If thy sons keep my Covenant, and my testimonies, that I shall teach them, their sons also shall sit upon thy throne [k]forever.
13 For the Lord hath chosen Zion, and loved to dwell in it, saying,
14 This is my rest forever: here will I dwell, for I have a [l]delight therein.
15 I will surely bless her vittles, and will satisfy her poor with bread,
16 And will clothe her Priests with [m]salvation, and her Saints shall shout for joy.
17 There will I make the [n]horn of David to bud: for I have ordained a light for mine Anointed.
18 His enemies will I clothe with shame, but on him his crown shall flourish.
133 1 This Psalm containeth the commendation of brotherly amity among the servants of God.

1 Behold, how good and how comely a thing it is, brethren to dwell even [o]together.
2 It is like to the precious [p]ointment upon the head, that runneth down upon the beard, even unto Aaron’s beard, which went down on the border of his garments,
3 And as the dew of [q]Hermon which falleth upon the mountains of Zion: for [r]there the Lord appointed the blessing and life forever.
134 1 He exhorteth the Levites watching in the Temple, to praise the Lord.

1 Behold, praise ye the Lord, all ye [s]servants of the Lord, ye that by night stand in the house of the Lord.
2 Lift up your [t]hands to the Sanctuary, and praise the Lord.
3 The Lord that [u]hath made heaven and earth, bless thee out of Zion.
135 1 He exhorteth all the faithful, of what estate soever they be, to praise God for his marvelous works. 12 And specially for his graces toward his people, wherein he hath declared his Majesty, 15 To the confusion of all idolaters and their idols.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Praise, the Name of the Lord; ye servants of the Lord, praise him.
2 Ye that [v]stand in the House of the Lord, and in the [w]courts of the House of our God,
3 Praise ye the Lord: for the Lord is good: sing praises unto his Name: for it is a comely thing.
4 For the Lord hath [x]chosen Jacob to himself, and Israel for his chief treasure.
5 For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.
6 Whatsoever pleased the Lord, that [y]did he in heaven and in earth, in the sea, and in all the depths.
7 He bringeth up the clouds from the ends of the earth, and maketh the (A)lightnings with the rain: he draweth forth the wind out of his treasures.
8 (B)He smote the firstborn of Egypt both of man and beast.
9 He hath sent tokens and wonders into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his servants.
10 (C)He smote many nations, and slew mighty Kings:
11 As Sihon King of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan:
12 And [z]gave their land for an inheritance, even an inheritance unto Israel his people.
13 Thy Name, O Lord, endureth forever: O Lord, thy remembrance is from generation to generation.
14 For the Lord will [aa]judge his people, and be pacified toward his servants.
15 The [ab]idols of the heathen are silver and gold, even the work of men’s hands.
16 They have a mouth, and speak not: they have eyes and see not.
17 They have ears and hear not, neither is there any breath in their mouth.
18 They that make them, are like unto them: so are all that trust in them.
19 Praise the Lord, ye house of Israel: praise the Lord, ye house of Aaron.
20 Praise the Lord, ye house of Levi; ye that fear the Lord, praise the Lord.
21 Praised be the Lord out of Zion, which dwelleth in Jerusalem. Praise ye the Lord.
Job
1 1 The holiness, riches, and care of Job for his children. 10 Satan hath permission to tempt him. 13 He tempteth him by taking away his substance, and his children. 20 His faith and patience.
1 There was a man in the land of [a]Uz called Job, and this man [b]was an upright and just man, [c]one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
2 And he had seven sons, and three daughters.
3 His [d]substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and his family was very great, so that this man was the greatest of all the [e]men of [f]the East.
4 And his sons went and banqueted in their houses, every one his day, and sent, and called their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5 And when the days of their banqueting were gone about, Job sent, and [g]sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and [h]offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job thought, It may be that my sons have sinned, and [i]blasphemed God in their hearts, thus did Job [j]every day.
6 ¶ Now on a day when the [k]children of God came and stood [l]before the Lord, Satan [m]came also among them.
7 Then the Lord said unto Satan, Whence [n]comest thou? And Satan answered the Lord, saying, [o]From compassing the earth to and fro, and from walking in it.
8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou not considered my servant Job, how none is like him in the earth? an upright and just man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for [p]nought?
10 Hast thou not made [q]an hedge about him and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11 But stretch out now thine hand and [r]touch all that he hath, to see if he will not blaspheme thee [s]to thy face.
12 Then the Lord said unto Satan, Lo, all that he hath is in [t]thine hand: only upon himself shalt thou not stretch out thine hand. So Satan departed from the [u]presence of the Lord.
13 ¶ And on a day, when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house,
14 There came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding in their places,
15 And the [v]Sabeans came violently, and took them: yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword: but I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
16 And while he was yet speaking, another came, and said, The [w]fire of God is fallen from the heaven, and hath burnt up the sheep and the servants, and devoured them: but I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
17 And while he was yet speaking, another came, and said, The Chaldeans set on three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have taken them, and have slain the servants with the edge of the sword: but I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
18 And while he was yet speaking, came another, and said, Thy [x]sons, and thy daughters were eating, and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house,
19 And behold, there came a great wind from beyond the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, which fell upon the children, and they are dead, and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
20 Then Job arose, and [y]rent his garment, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
21 And said, (A)Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return [z]thither: the Lord hath given, and the Lord hath taken it: [aa]blessed be the Name of the Lord.
22 In all this did not Job sin, nor charge God [ab]foolishly.
26 [a]Then the Angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the South unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is waste.
27 And he arose and went on: and behold, a certain Eunuch of Ethiopia, Candace the Queen of the Ethiopians’ [b]chief Governor, who had the rule of all her treasure, and came to Jerusalem to worship.
28 And as he returned sitting in his chariot, he read Isaiah the Prophet.
29 Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near and join thyself to yonder chariot.
30 And Philip ran thither, and heard him read the Prophet Isaiah, and said, But understandest thou what thou readest?
31 And he said, How can I, except I had [c]a guide? And he desired Philip, that he would come up and sit with him.
32 [d]Now the place of the Scripture which he read, was this, (A)He was lead as a sheep to the slaughter: and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth.
33 In his [e]humility his judgment hath been exalted: but who shall declare his [f]generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
34 Then the Eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the Prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same Scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
36 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water, and the Eunuch said, See, here is water: what doth let me to be baptized?
37 [g]And Philip said unto him, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. Then he answered, and said, [h]I believe that that Jesus Christ is that Son of God.
38 Then he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the Eunuch, and he baptized him.
39 And as soon as they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the Eunuch saw him no more: so he went on his way rejoicing.
40 But Philip was found at Azotus, and he walked to and fro preaching in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
16 ¶ [a]When even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
17 (A)And entered into a ship, and went over the sea, [b]towards Capernaum: and now it was dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
18 And the Sea arose with a great wind that blew.
19 And when they had rowed about five and twenty, or thirty furlongs, they saw Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing near unto the ship: so they were afraid.
20 But he said unto them, It is I: be not afraid.
21 Then [c]willingly they received him into the ship, and the ship was by and by at the land, whither they went.
22 ¶ The day following, the people which stood on the other side of the sea, saw that there was none other ship there, save that one, where into his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples in the ship, but that his disciples were gone alone,
23 And that there came other ships from Tiberias near unto the place where they ate the bread, after the Lord had given thanks.
24 Now when the people saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26 [d]Jesus answered them, and said, Verily, verily I say unto you, Ye seek me not, because ye saw the miracles, but because ye ate of the loaves, and were filled.
27 [e]Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for the meat that endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath (B)God the Father [f]sealed.
