Psalm 101

101 1 David describeth what government he will observe in his house and kingdom. 5 He will punish and correct, by rooting forth the wicked, 6 and cherishing the godly persons.

A Psalm of David.

I will [a]sing mercy and judgment: unto thee, O Lord, will I sing.

I will do wisely in the perfect way, [b]till thou comest to me, I will walk in the uprightness of mine heart in the midst of my house.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate [c]the work of them that fall away: it shall not cleave unto me.

A froward heart shall depart from me; I will know none evil.

Him that privily [d]slandereth his neighbor, will I destroy: him that hath a proud look and high heart, I cannot suffer.

Mine eyes shall be unto the [e]faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me: he that walketh in a perfect way, he shall serve me.

There shall no deceitful person dwell within my house: he that telleth lies, shall not remain in my sight.

[f]Betimes will I destroy all the wicked of the land that I may cut off all the workers of iniquity from the City of the Lord.

Psalm 109:1-30

109 1 David being falsely accused by flatterers unto Saul, prayeth God to help him, and to destroy his enemies. 8 And under them he speaketh of Judas the traitor unto Jesus Christ, and of all the like enemies of the children of God:  27 And desireth so to be delivered, that his enemies may know the work to be of God. 30 Then doth he promise to give praise unto God.

To him that excelleth. A Psalm of David.

Hold not thy tongue, O God of my [a]praise.

For the mouth of the wicked, and the mouth full of deceit are opened upon me: they have spoken to me with a lying tongue.

They compassed me about also with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.

For my friendship they were my adversaries, [b]but I gave myself to prayer.

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my friendship.

[c]Set thou the wicked over him, and let the adversary stand at his right hand.

When he shall be judged, let him be condemned, and let his [d]prayer be turned into sin.

Let his days be few, and let another take his [e]charge.

Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.

10 Let his children be vagabonds, and beg and seek bread, coming out of their places destroyed.

11 Let [f]the extortioner catch all that he hath, and let the strangers spoil his labor.

12 Let there be none to extend mercy unto him: neither let there be any to show mercy upon his fatherless children.

13 Let his posterity be destroyed, and in the generation following, let their name be put out.

14 [g]Let the iniquity of his fathers be had in remembrance with the Lord: and let not the sin of his mother be done away.

15 But let them always be before the Lord, that he may cut off their memorial from the earth.

16 Because [h]he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the afflicted and poor man, and the sorrowful hearted to slay him.

17 As he loved cursing, [i]so shall it come unto him, and as he loved not blessing, so shall it be far from him.

18 As he clothed himself with cursing like a raiment, so shall it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones.

19 Let it be unto him as a garment to cover him, and for a girdle, wherewith he shall be always girded.

20 Let this be the reward of mine adversary [j]from the Lord, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

21 But thou, O Lord my God, deal with me according unto thy [k]Name: deliver me, (for thy mercy is good)

22 Because I am poor and needy, and mine heart is wounded within me.

23 I depart like the shadow that declineth, and am shaken off as the [l]grasshopper.

24 My knees are weak through fasting, and my flesh [m]hath lost all fatness.

25 I became also a rebuke unto them: they that looked upon me, shaked their heads.

26 Help me, O Lord my God: [n]save me according to thy mercy.

27 And they shall know that this is thine hand, and that thou, Lord, hast done it.

28 Though [o]they curse, yet thou wilt bless: they shall arise and be confounded, but thy servant shall rejoice.

29 Let mine adversaries be clothed with shame, and let them cover themselves with their confusion as with a cloak.

30 I will give thanks unto the Lord greatly with my [p]mouth, and praise him among the multitude.

Psalm 119:121-144

AIN

121 I have executed judgment and justice: leave me not to mine oppressor.

122 [a]Answer for thy servant in that which is good, and let not the proud oppress me.

123 Mine eyes have failed in waiting for thy salvation, and for thy just promise.

124 Deal with thy [b]servant according to thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

125 I am thy servant: grant me therefore understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.

126 It is [c]time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have destroyed thy Law.

127 Therefore love I thy commandments above gold, yea, above most fine gold.

128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts most just, and hate all false [d]ways.

PE

129 Thy testimonies are [e]wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.

130 The entrance into thy [f]words showeth light, and giveth understanding to the simple.

131 I opened my mouth, and [g]panted, because I loved thy commandments.

132 Look upon me and be merciful unto me, as thou usest to do unto those that love thy Name.

133 Direct my steps in thy word, and let none iniquity have dominion over me.

134 Deliver me from the oppression of men, and I will keep thy precepts.

135 Show the light of thy countenance upon thy servant, and teach me thy statute.

136 Mine eyes gush [h]out with rivers of water, because they keep not thy Law.

TZADDI

137 Righteous art thou, O Lord, and just are thy judgments.

138 Thou hast commanded [i]justice by thy testimonies and truth especially.

139 (A)My zeal hath even consumed me: because mine enemies have forgotten thy words.

140 Thy word is proved [j]most pure, and thy servant loveth it.

141 I am [k]small and despised: yet do I not forget thy precepts.

142 Thy righteousness is an everlasting righteousness, and thy Law is truth.

143 Trouble and anguish are come upon me: yet are the commandments my delight.

144 The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: grant me understanding, and I shall [l]live.

Judges 13:15-24

15 Manoah then said unto the Angel of the Lord, I pray thee, let us retain thee, until we have made ready a kid for thee.

16 And the Angel of the Lord said unto Manoah, Though thou make me abide, I will not eat of thy bread, and if thou wilt make a burnt offering, offer it unto the [a]Lord: for Manoah knew not that it was an Angel of the Lord.

17 Again Manoah said unto the Angel of the Lord, What is thy name, that when thy saying is come to pass, we may honor thee?

18 And the Angel of the Lord said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, which is [b]secret?

19 Then Manoah took a kid with a meat offering, and offered it upon a stone unto the Lord: and the Angel did [c]wondrously, while Manoah and his wife looked on.

20 For when the flame came up toward heaven from the altar, the Angel of the Lord ascended up in the flame of the altar, and Manoah and his wife beheld it, and fell on their faces unto the ground.

21 (So the Angel of the Lord did no more appear unto Manoah and his wife.) Then Manoah knew that it was an Angel of the Lord.

22 And Manoah said unto his wife, (A)We shall surely die, because we have seen God.

23 But his wife said unto him, If the Lord would kill us, he would not have received a [d]burnt offering, and a meat offering of our hands, neither would he have showed us all these things, nor would now have told us any such.

24 ¶ And the wife bore a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him.

Acts 6

1 The Apostles, 3 appoint the office of Deaconship, 5 to seven chosen men: 8 Of whom Stephen, full of faith, is one:  12 He is taken, 13 and accused as a transgressor of Moses’ Law.

And [a]in those days, as the number of the disciples grew, there arose a murmuring of the [b]Grecians towards the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the [c]daily ministering.

[d]Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples together, and said, It is not [e]meet that we should leave the word of God to serve the [f]tables.

[g]Wherefore brethren, look you out among you seven men of honest report, and full of the holy Ghost, and of wisdom, which we may appoint to this business.

And we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministration of the word.

And the saying pleased the whole multitude: and they chose Stephen a man full of faith and of the holy Ghost, and (A)Philip, and Prochorus, and Nicanor, and Timon, and Parmenas, and Nicolas a Proselyte of Antioch,

[h]Which they set before the Apostles: and they prayed, and [i]laid their hands on them.

[j]And the word of God increased, and the number of the disciples was multiplied in Jerusalem greatly, and a great company of the Priests were obedient to the [k]faith.

[l]Now Stephen full of faith and [m]power, did great wonders and miracles among the people.

[n]Then there arose certain of the [o]Synagogue, which are called Libertines, and Cyrenians, and of Alexandria, and of them of Cilicia, and of Asia, and disputed with Stephen.

10 [p]But they were not able to resist the wisdom, and the Spirit by the which he spake.

11 Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and God.

12 [q]Thus they moved the people and the Elders, and the Scribes: and running upon him, caught him, and brought him to the Council,

13 [r]And set forth false witnesses, which said, This man ceaseth not to speak blasphemous words against this holy place, and the Law.

14 For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the ordinances which Moses gave us.

15 And as all that sat in the Council looked steadfastly on him, they [s]saw his face as it had been the face of an Angel.

John 4:1-26

6 Jesus being weary, asketh drink of the woman of Samaria. 21 He teacheth the true worship. 26 He confesseth that he is the Messiah, 32 His meat. 39 The Samaritans believe in him. 46 He healeth the Ruler’s son.

Now [a]when the Lord knew, how the Pharisees had heard, that Jesus made (A)and baptized more disciples than John,

(Though Jesus himself baptized not: but his disciples.)

He left Judea, and departed again into Galilee.

And he must needs go through Samaria.

[b]Then came he to a city of Samaria called Sychar, near unto the possession that (B)Jacob gave to his son Joseph.

And there was Jacob’s Well. Jesus then wearied in the journey, sat [c]thus on the Well: it was about the [d]sixth hour.

There came a woman of Samaria to draw water. Jesus said unto her, Give me drink.

For his disciples were gone away into the city, to buy meat.

Then said the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it, that thou being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? For the Jews [e]meddle not with the Samaritans.

10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest [f]that gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee [g]water of life.

11 The woman said unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the Well is deep: from whence then hast thou that water of life?

12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the Well, and he himself drank thereof, and his sons, and his cattle.

13 Jesus answered, and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water, shall thirst again:

14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him, shall never be more athirst: but the water that I shall give him, shall be in him a well of water, springing up into everlasting life.

15 The woman said unto him, Sir, give me of that water, that I may not thirst, neither come hither to draw.

16 Jesus said unto her, Go, call thine husband, and come hither.

17 The woman answered, and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, thou hast well said, I have no husband.

18 For thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou now hast, is not thine husband: that saidest thou truly.

19 The woman said unto him, Sir, I see that thou art a Prophet.

20 [h]Our fathers worshipped in this [i]mountain, and ye say, that in (C)Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.

21 Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor at Jerusalem worship the Father.

22 Ye worship that which ye (D)know not: we worship that which we know: for salvation is of the Jews.

23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in [j]Spirit and Truth: for the Father requireth even such to worship him.

24 (E)God is a [k]Spirit, and they that worship him, must worship him in Spirit and Truth.

25 The woman said unto him, I know well that Messiah shall come, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.

26 Jesus said unto her, I am he, that speak unto thee.
