Psalm 87

87 1 The holy Ghost promiseth, that the condition of the Church which was in misery after the captivity of Babylon, should be restored to great excellency. 4 So that there should be nothing more comfortable, than to be numbered among the members thereof.

A Psalm or song committed to the sons of Korah.

God laid his [a]foundations among the holy mountains.

The Lord loveth the gates of Zion above all the habitations of Jacob.

[b]Glorious things are spoken of thee, O city of God. Selah.

I will make mention of [c]Rahab and Babel among them that know me: behold Palestine and Tyre with Ethiopia, [d]There is he born.

And of Zion it shall be said, [e]Many are born in her: and he, even the most High shall stablish her.

The Lord shall count, when he [f]writeth the people, He was born there. Selah.

As well the singers as the players on instruments shall praise thee: all my [g]springs are in thee.

Psalm 90

90 1 Moses in his prayer setteth before us the eternal favor of God toward his, 3 who are neither admonished by the brevity of their life,  7 nor by his plagues to be thankful, 12 therefore Moses prayeth God to turn their hearts, and continue his mercies toward them and their posterity forever.

A prayer of Moses, [a]the man of God.

Lord, thou hast been our [b]habitation from generation to generation.

Before the [c]mountains were made, and before thou hadst formed the earth, and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting thou art our God.

Thou [d]turnest man to destruction: again thou sayest, Return ye sons of Adam.

[e]For a thousand years in thy sight are as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.

Thou hast [f]overflowed them, they are as a sleep, in the morning he groweth like the grass:

In the morning it flourisheth and groweth, but in the evening it is cut down and withereth.

For we are [g]consumed by thine anger, and by thy wrath are we troubled.

Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, and our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

For all our days are past in thine anger: we have [h]spent our years as a thought.

10 The time of our life is threescore years and ten, and if they be of strength, [i]fourscore years: yet their strength is but labor and sorrow: for it is cut off quickly, and we flee away.

11 [j]Who knoweth the power of thy wrath? for according to thy fear is thine anger.

12 Teach us so to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto [k]wisdom.

13 Return (O Lord, [l]how long?) and be [m]pacified toward thy servants.

14 Fill us with thy mercy in the morning: so shall we rejoice and be glad all our days?

15 Comfort us according to the days that thou hast afflicted us, and according to the years that we have seen evil.

16 [n]Let thy work be seen toward thy servants, and thy glory upon their [o]children.

17 And let the [p]beauty of the Lord our God be upon us, and [q]direct thou the work of our hands upon us, even direct the work of our hands.

Psalm 136

136 1 A most earnest exhortation to give thanks unto God for the creation and governance of all things, which standeth in confessing that he giveth us all of his mere liberality.

Praise ye the Lord, because he is good: for his [a]mercy endureth forever.

Praise ye the God of gods: for his mercy endureth forever:

Praise ye the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth forever:

Which only doeth great wonders; for his mercy endureth forever:

Which by his wisdom made the heavens: for his mercy endureth forever:

Which hath stretched out the earth upon the waters: for his [b]mercy endureth forever:

Which made great lights: for his mercy endureth forever:

As the Sun to rule the day; for his mercy endureth forever:

The Moon and the stars to govern the night: for his mercy endureth forever:

10 Which smote Egypt with their firstborn, (for his mercy endureth forever)

11 And [c]brought out Israel from among them; for his mercy endureth forever:

12 With a mighty hand and [d]stretched out arm; for his mercy endureth forever:

13 Which divideth the Sea into two parts; for his mercy endureth forever:

14 And made Israel to pass through the midst of it; for his mercy endureth forever:

15 And overthrew Pharaoh and his host in the red Sea; for his mercy endureth forever:

16 Which led his people through the [e]wilderness; for his mercy endureth forever:

17 Which smote great Kings: for his mercy endureth forever:

18 And slew [f]mighty Kings: for his mercy endureth forever:

19 As Sihon King of the Amorites: for his mercy endureth forever:

20 And Og the king of Bashan: for his mercy endureth forever:

21 And gave their land for an heritage; for his mercy endureth forever:

22 Even an heritage unto Israel his servant; for his mercy endureth forever:

23 Which remembered us in our [g]base estate; for his mercy endureth forever:

24 And hath rescued us from our oppressors; for his mercy endureth forever:

25 Which giveth food to all [h]flesh; for his mercy endureth forever:

26 [i]Praise ye the God of heaven; for his mercy endureth forever.

Numbers 13:31-14:25

31 Then Caleb stilled the people [a]before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it: for undoubtedly we shall overcome it.

32 But the men that went up with him, said, We be not able to go up against the people: for they are stronger than we.

33 So they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched for the children of Israel, saying, The land which we have gone through to search it out, is a land that [b]eateth up the inhabitants thereof: for all the people that we saw in it, are men of great stature.

34 For there we saw giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants, so that we seemed in our sight like grasshoppers: and so we were in their sight.

14 2 The people murmur against Moses. 10 They would have stoned Caleb and Joshua. 23 Moses pacifieth God by his prayer. 45 The people that would enter into the land contrary to God’s will, are slain.

Then all the Congregation lifted up their voice, and cried: and the [c]people wept that night,

And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and Aaron: and the whole assembly said unto them, Would God we had died in the land of Egypt, or in this wilderness: would God we were dead.

Wherefore now hath the Lord brought us into this land to fall upon the sword? our wives and our children shall be [d]a prey: were it not better for us to return into Egypt?

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain and return into Egypt.

Then Moses and Aaron [e]fell on their faces before all the assembly of the Congregation of the children of Israel.

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh two of them that searched the land, [f]rent their clothes,

And spake unto all the assembly of the children of Israel, saying, The land which we walked through to search it, is a very good land.

If the Lord love us, he will bring us into this land, and give it us, which is a land that floweth with milk and honey.

But rebel not ye against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land: for they are but [g]bread for us: their shield is departed from them, and the Lord is with us, fear them not.

10 And all the multitude said, [h]Stone them with stones: but the glory of the Lord appeared in the Tabernacle of the Congregation before all the children of Israel.

11 And the Lord said unto Moses, How long will this people provoke me, and how long will it be ere they believe me, for all the signs which I have showed among them?

12 I will smite them with the pestilence and destroy them, and will make thee a greater nation and mightier than they.

13 But Moses said unto the Lord, (A)When the Egyptians shall hear it, (for thou broughtest this people by thy power from among them)

14 Then they shall say to the inhabitants of the land, (for they have heard, that thou Lord, art among this people, and that thou, Lord, art seen [i]face to face, and that thy cloud standeth over them, and that thou (B)goest before them, by daytime in a pillar of a cloud, and in a pillar of fire by night.)

15 That thou wilt kill this people as [j]one man: so the heathen which have heard the fame of thee, shall thus say,

16 Because the Lord was not (C)able to bring this people into the land which he sware unto them, therefore hath he slain them in the wilderness.

17 And now, I beseech thee, let the power of my Lord be great, according as thou hast spoken, saying,

18 The Lord is (D)slow to anger, and of great mercy, and (E)forgiving iniquity and sin, but not making the wicked innocent, and (F)visiting the wickedness of the fathers upon the children, in the third and fourth generation:

19 Be merciful, I beseech thee, unto the iniquity of this people, according to thy great mercy, and as thou hast forgiven this people from Egypt, even until now.

20 And the Lord said, I have forgiven [k]it, according to thy request.

21 Notwithstanding, as I live, all the earth, shall be filled with the glory of the Lord.

22 For all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles which I did in Egypt, and in the wilderness, and have tempted me this [l]ten times, and have not obeyed my voice,

23 Certainly they shall not see the land, whereof I sware unto their fathers: neither shall any that provoke me, see it.

24 But my servant (G)Caleb, because he had another [m]spirit, and hath followed me still, even him will I bring into the land, whither he went, and his seed shall inherit it.

25 Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites [n]remain in the valley: wherefore turn back tomorrow, and get you into the [o]wilderness, by the way of the red sea.

Romans 3:9-20

[a]What then? are we more excellent? No, in no wise: for we have already proved, that all, both Jews and Gentiles are [b]under sin,

10 As it is written, (A)There is none righteous no not one.

11 There is none that understandeth: there is none that seeketh God.

12 They have all gone out of the way: they have been made altogether unprofitable: there is none that doeth good, no not one.

13 (B)Their throat is an open sepulcher: they have used their tongues to deceit: (C)the poison of asps is under their lips.

14 (D)Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.

15 (E)Their feet are swift to shed blood.

16 Destruction and calamity are in their ways:

17 And the [c]way of peace they have not known.

18 (F)The fear of God is not before their eyes.

19 [d]Now we know that whatsoever the [e]law saith, it saith it to them which are under the law, that [f]every mouth may be stopped, and all the world be [g]subject to the judgment of God.

20 Therefore by the [h]works of the Law shall no [i]flesh be [j]justified in his [k]sight: for by the Law cometh the knowledge of sin.

Matthew 19:1-12

19 2 The sick are healed. 3 and 7 A bill of divorcement. 12 Eunuchs. 13 Children brought to Christ. 17 God only good. The commandments must be kept. 21 A perfect man. 23 A rich man. 26 Salvation cometh of God. 27 To leave all and follow Christ.

And (A)it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he [a]departed from Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judea beyond Jordan.

And great multitudes followed him, and he healed them there.

[b]Then came unto him the Pharisees tempting him, and saying to him, Is it lawful for a man to [c]put away his wife upon every occasion?

And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, (B)that he which made them at the beginning, made them male and female,

And said, (C)For this cause, shall a man leave father and mother, and [d]cleave unto his wife, and they which were [e]two, shall be one flesh?

Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. Let not man therefore put asunder that, which God hath [f]coupled together.

[g]They said to him, Why did then (D) Moses command to give a bill of divorcement, and to put her away?

He said unto them, Moses, [h]because of the hardness of your heart, [i]suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so.

I say therefore unto you, (E)that whosoever shall put away his wife, except it be [j]for whoredom, and marry another, commiteth adultery: and whosoever marrieth her which is divorced, doth commit adultery.

10 Then said his disciples to him, If the [k]matter be so between man and wife, it is not good to marry.

11 [l]But he said unto them, All men cannot [m]receive this thing, save they to whom it is given.

12 For there are some [n]eunuchs, which were so born of their mother’s belly: and there be some eunuchs, which be gelded by men: and there be some eunuchs, which have [o]gelded themselves for the kingdom of heaven. He that is able to receive this, let him receive it.
