⁵ Thou shalt not ^[a]bow down to them, neither serve them: for I am the Lord thy God, a ^[b]jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, upon the third generation and upon the fourth of them that hate me:

⁷ Reserving mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity, and transgression and sin, and not ^[a]making the wicked innocent, ^(A)visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon children’s children, unto the third and fourth generation.
