Who May Dwell on Your Holy Mountain?
A Psalm of David.
15 O Yahweh, who may [a]sojourn (A)in Your tent?
Who may dwell on Your (B)holy mountain?
2 He who (C)walks blamelessly, and works righteousness,
And (D)speaks truth in his heart.
3 He (E)does not slander [b]with his tongue,
Nor (F)does evil to his neighbor,
Nor (G)takes up a reproach against his friend;
4 In [c]whose eyes a reprobate is despised,
But [d]who (H)honors those who fear Yahweh;
He (I)swears to his own hurt and does not change;
5 He (J)does not put out his money [e]at interest,
Nor (K)does he take a bribe against the innocent.
(L)He who does these things will never be shaken.
Instructions and Warnings
27 (A)Do not boast about tomorrow,
For you (B)do not know what a day may bring forth.
2 Let a (C)stranger praise you, and not your own mouth;
A foreigner, and not your own lips.
3 A stone is heavy and the sand weighty,
But the provocation of an ignorant fool is heavier than both of them.
4 Wrath is cruelty and anger is a flood,
But (D)who can stand before jealousy?
5 Better is reproof that is (E)revealed
Than love that is hidden.
6 Faithful are the (F)wounds of a friend,
But [a]deceitful are the (G)kisses of an enemy.
10 Do not forsake your (A)friend or (B)your father’s friend,
And do not come to your brother’s house in the day of your disaster;
Better is one who dwells near than a brother far away.
11 (C)Be wise, my son, and make my heart glad,
That I may (D)respond with a word to him who reproaches me.
12 A prudent man sees evil and hides,
The simple pass on and are punished.
Christ’s Humility and Exaltation
2 Therefore if there is any encouragement in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any (A)fellowship of the Spirit, if any [a](B)affection and compassion, 2 (C)fulfill my joy, that (D)you think the same way, by maintaining the same love, being united in spirit, thinking on one purpose, 3 doing nothing [b]from [c](E)selfish ambition or (F)vain glory, but with humility of mind (G)regarding one another as more important than yourselves, 4 (H)not merely looking out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others. 5 (I)Have this way of thinking [d]in yourselves which was also in (J)Christ Jesus, 6 who, although (K)existing in the (L)form of God, (M)did not regard equality with God a thing [e]to be grasped, 7 but [f](N)emptied Himself, by taking the form of a (O)slave, by (P)being made in the likeness of men. 8 Being found in appearance as a man, (Q)He humbled Himself by becoming (R)obedient to the point of death, even (S)death [g]on a cross. 9 (T)Therefore, God also (U)highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him (V)the name which is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus (W)every knee will bow, of (X)those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and that (Y)every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is [h](Z)Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
12 So then, my beloved, (AA)just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your (AB)salvation with (AC)fear and trembling; 13 for it is (AD)God who is at work in you, both to will and to work (AE)for His good pleasure.
15 (A)And Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Now that disciple was known to the high priest, and entered with Jesus into (B)the court of the high priest, 16 (C)but Peter was standing at the door outside. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the doorkeeper, and brought Peter in. 17 (D)Then the servant-girl who kept the door *said to Peter, “(E)Are you not also one of this man’s disciples?” He *said, “I am not.” 18 Now the slaves and the (F)officers were standing there, having made (G)a charcoal fire, for it was cold and they were (H)warming themselves; and Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.
25 (A)Now (B)Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “(C)You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.” 26 One of the slaves of the high priest, being a relative of the one (D)whose ear Peter cut off, *said, “Did I not see you in (E)the garden with Him?” 27 Peter then denied it again, and immediately (F)a rooster crowed.
