146 1 David declareth his great zeal that he hath to praise God. 3 And teacheth, not to trust in man, but only in God Almighty, 7 Which delivereth the afflicted, 9 Defendeth the strangers, comforteth the fatherless, and the widows, 10 And reigneth forever.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Praise thou the Lord, O my [a]soul.
2 I will praise the Lord during my life; as long as I have any being, I will sing unto my God.
3 Put not your trust in [b]Princes, nor in the son of man, for there is no help in him.
4 His breath departeth, and he returneth to his earth; then his [c]thoughts perish.
5 Blessed is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God,
6 Which made [d]heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is; which keepeth his fidelity forever,
7 Which executeth justice [e]for the oppressed, which giveth bread to the hungry; the Lord looseth the prisoners.
8 The Lord giveth sight to the blind: the Lord raiseth up the crooked: the Lord [f]loveth the righteous.
9 The Lord keepeth the [g]strangers: he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but he overthroweth the way of the wicked.
10 The Lord shall [h]reign forever: O Zion, thy God endureth from generation to generation. Praise ye the Lord.
147 1 The Prophet praiseth the bounty, wisdom, power, justice, and providence of God upon all his creatures. 2 But specially upon his Church, which he gathereth together after their dispersion, 19 Declaring his word and judgment so unto them, as he hath done to none other people.
1 Praise ye the Lord, for it is good to sing unto our God: for it is a [i]pleasant thing, and praise is comely.
2 The Lord doth build up [j]Jerusalem, and gather together the dispersed of Israel.
3 He healeth those that are [k]broken in heart, and bindeth up their sores.
4 He [l]counteth the number of the stars, and calleth them all by their names.
5 Great is our Lord, and great is his power: his wisdom is infinite.
6 The Lord relieveth the meek, and abaseth the wicked to the [m]ground.
7 Sing unto the Lord with praise: sing upon the harp unto our God,
8 Which [n]covereth the heaven with clouds, and prepareth rain for the earth, and maketh the grass to grow upon the mountains:
9 Which giveth to beasts their food, and to the young ravens that [o]cry.
10 He hath no pleasure in the [p]strength of an horse, neither delighteth he in the legs of man.
11 But the Lord delighteth in them that fear him, and attend upon his mercy.
12 Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem: praise thy God, O Zion.
13 For he hath made the bars of the gates [q]strong, and hath blessed thy children within thee.
14 He setteth peace in thy borders, and satisfieth thee with the [r]flour of wheat.
15 He sendeth forth his [s]commandment upon earth, and his word runneth very [t]swiftly.
16 He giveth snow like wool, and scattereth the hoary frost like ashes.
17 He casteth forth his ice like morsels: who can abide the cold thereof?
18 He sendeth his word and melteth them: he causeth his wind to blow, and the waters flow.
19 He showeth his [u]word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel.
20 He hath not dealt so with every nation, neither have they [v]known his judgments. Praise ye the Lord.
111 1 He giveth thanks to the Lord for his merciful works toward his Church, 10 and declareth wherein true wisdom and right knowledge consisteth.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 I will [a]praise the Lord with my whole heart in the assembly and the congregation of the just.
2 The works of the Lord are [b]great, and ought to be sought out of all them that love them.
3 His work is beautiful and glorious, and his righteousness endureth forever.
4 He hath made his wonderful works to be had in remembrance: the Lord is merciful and full of compassion.
5 He hath given [c]a [d]portion unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.
6 He hath showed to his people the power of his works, in giving unto them the heritage of the heathen.
7 The [e]works of his hands are truth and judgment: all his statutes are true.
8 They are established forever and ever, and are done in truth and equity.
9 He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant forever: holy and fearful is his Name.
10 [f]The beginning of wisdom is the fear of the Lord: all they that observe [g]them, have good understanding: his praise endureth forever.
112 1 He praiseth the felicity of them that fear God, 10 and condemneth the cursed state of the contemners of God.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Blessed is the man that [h]feareth the Lord, and delighteth greatly in his commandments.
2 His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the righteous shall be blessed.
3 [i]Riches and treasures shall be in his house, and his righteousness endureth forever.
4 Unto the [j]righteous ariseth light in darkness: he is merciful and full of compassion and righteous.
5 A good man is merciful, and [k]lendeth, and will measure his affairs by judgment.
6 Surely he shall never be moved: but the righteous shall be had in everlasting remembrance.
7 He will not be afraid of evil tidings: for his heart is fixed, and believeth in the Lord.
8 His heart is established: therefore he will not fear, until he see his desire upon his enemies.
9 He hath [l]distributed and given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth forever: his [m]horn shall be exalted with glory.
10 The wicked shall see it, and be angry: he shall gnash with his teeth, and [n]consume away: the desire of the wicked shall perish.
113 1 An exhortation to praise the Lord for his providence 7 in that that contrary to the course of nature he worketh in his Church.
Praise ye the Lord.
1 Praise, O ye servants of the Lord, [o]praise the Name of the Lord.
2 Blessed be the Name of the Lord from henceforth and forever.
3 The Lord’s Name is praised from the rising of the sun, unto the going down of the same.
4 The Lord is high above all [p]nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 Who is like unto the Lord our God, that hath his dwelling on high.
6 Who abaseth himself to behold things in the heavens and in the earth!
7 He raiseth the needy out of the dust, and lifteth up the [q]poor out of the dung,
8 That he may set him with the princes, even with the princes of his people.
9 He maketh the barren woman to dwell with a family, and a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord.
40 2 Remission of sins by Christ. 3 The coming of John Baptist. 18 The Prophet reproveth the Idolaters, and them that trust not in the Lord.
1 Comfort [a]ye, comfort ye my people, will your God say.
2 Speak comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her, that her [b]warfare is accomplished, that her iniquity is pardoned; for she hath received of the Lord’s hand [c]double for all her sins.
3 A [d]voice crieth in the [e]wilderness, [f]Prepare ye the way of the Lord: make straight in the desert a path for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every [g]mountain and hill shall be made low; and the crooked shall be straight, and the rough places plain.
5 And the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all [h]flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the Lord hath spoken it.
6 A [i]voice said, Cry. And he said, What shall I cry? All flesh is grass, and all the [j]grace thereof is as the flowers of the field.
7 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth, because the [k]Spirit of the Lord bloweth upon it: surely the people is grass.
8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the [l]word of our God shall stand forever.
9 ¶ O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high [m]mountain: O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength: lift it up, be not afraid: say unto the cities of Judah, Behold [n]your God.
10 Behold, the Lord God will come with power, and [o]his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall guide them with [p]young.
The Epistle to the Hebrews
The drift and end of this Epistle, is to show that Jesus Christ the Son of God both God and man, is that true eternal and only Prophet, King, and high Priest, that was shadowed by the figures of the old Law, and is now indeed exhibited: of whom the whole Church ought to be taught, governed and sanctified.
1 2 To show that the doctrine which Christ brought, is most excellent, in that it is the knitting up of all prophecies, 4 he advanceth him above the Angels: 10 And proveth by divers testimonies of the Scripture, that he far passeth all others.
1 At [a]sundry times and in divers manners God spake in the old time to our fathers by the Prophets: in these [b]last days he hath spoken unto us by his [c]Son,
2 [d]Whom he hath made [e]heir of all things, by whom also he made the [f]worlds,
3 (A)Who being the [g]brightness of the glory, and the engraved form of his [h]person, and [i]bearing up all things by his mighty word: [j]hath by himself purged our sins: and [k]sitteth at the right hand of the Majesty in the highest places,
4 [l]And is made so much more excellent than the Angels, inasmuch as he hath obtained a more excellent [m]Name than they.
5 [n]For unto which of the Angels said he at any time, (B)Thou art my Son, [o]this day begat I thee? and again, I (C)will be his Father, and he shall be my Son:
6 And [p]again, when he bringeth in his first begotten Son into the world, he saith, (D)And let all the Angels of God worship him.
7 And of the Angels he saith, (E)He maketh the spirits his [q]messengers, and his ministers a flame [r]of fire.
8 But unto the Son he saith, (F)O God, thy [s]throne is forever [t]and ever: the scepter of thy kingdom is a [u]scepter of righteousness.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness and [v]hated iniquity. Wherefore God, even thy God, hath [w]anointed thee with the oil of gladness, above thy [x]fellows.
10 And, (G)Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast [y]established the earth, and the heavens are the works of thine hands.
11 They shall perish, but thou dost remain, and they all shall wax old as doth a garment,
12 And as a vesture shalt thou fold them up, and they shall be changed: but thou art the same, and thy years shall not fail.

5 [n]And that light shineth in the wilderness, and the darkness [o]comprehendeth it not.

7 This same came for a witness, to bear witness of that light, that all men [q]through him might believe.
29 ¶ [a]The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold [b]that Lamb of God, which [c]taketh away the [d]sin of the world.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, which was before me: for he was better than I.
31 And [e]I knew him not: but because he should be declared to Israel, therefore am I come, baptizing with water.
32 [f]So John bare record, saying, I beheld, (A)that Spirit come down from heaven, like a dove, and it abode upon him,
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, he said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see that Spirit come down, and tarry still on him, that is he which baptizeth with the holy Ghost.
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is [g]that Son of God.
