Psalm 24

Psalm 24

The King of Glory

A psalm of David.

The earth and everything in it,
the world and its inhabitants,
belong to the Lord;(A)
for he laid its foundation on the seas
and established it on the rivers.(B)

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?(C)
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,(D)
who has not appealed to[a] what is false,(E)
and who has not sworn deceitfully.
He will receive blessing from the Lord,(F)
and righteousness[b] from the God of his salvation.(G)
Such is the generation of those who inquire of him,
who seek the face of the God of Jacob.[c](H)Selah

Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.(I)
Who is this King of glory?
The Lord, strong and mighty,
the Lord, mighty in battle.(J)
Lift up your heads, you gates!
Rise up, ancient doors!
Then the King of glory will come in.
10 Who is he, this King of glory?
The Lord of Armies,
he is the King of glory.(K)Selah

Psalm 29

Psalm 29

The Voice of the Lord

A psalm of David.

Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,[a]
ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;
worship the Lord
in the splendor of his holiness.[b](A)

The voice of the Lord is above the waters.
The God of glory thunders—
the Lord, above the vast water,(B)
the voice of the Lord in power,
the voice of the Lord in splendor.(C)
The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.(D)
He makes Lebanon skip like a calf,(E)
and Sirion, like a young wild ox.(F)
The voice of the Lord flashes flames of fire.(G)
The voice of the Lord shakes the wilderness;
the Lord shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.(H)
The voice of the Lord makes the deer give birth[c](I)
and strips the woodlands bare.(J)
In his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;
the Lord sits enthroned, King forever.(K)
11 The Lord gives his people strength;(L)
the Lord blesses his people with peace.(M)

Psalm 103

Psalm 103

The Forgiving God

Of David.

My soul, bless the Lord,
and all that is within me, bless his holy name.(A)
My soul, bless the Lord,
and do not forget all his benefits.(B)

He forgives all your iniquity;(C)
he heals all your diseases.(D)
He redeems your life from the Pit;(E)
he crowns you with faithful love and compassion.(F)
He satisfies you[a] with good things;(G)
your youth is renewed like the eagle.(H)

The Lord executes acts of righteousness
and justice for all the oppressed.(I)
He revealed his ways to Moses,(J)
his deeds to the people of Israel.(K)
The Lord is compassionate and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in faithful love.(L)
He will not always accuse us
or be angry forever.(M)
10 He has not dealt with us as our sins deserve
or repaid us according to our iniquities.(N)

11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
so great is his faithful love
toward those who fear him.(O)
12 As far as the east is from the west,
so far has he removed
our transgressions from us.(P)
13 As a father has compassion on his children,
so the Lord has compassion on those who fear him.(Q)
14 For he knows what we are made of,
remembering that we are dust.(R)

15 As for man, his days are like grass—
he blooms like a flower of the field;(S)
16 when the wind passes over it, it vanishes,
and its place is no longer known.[b](T)
17 But from eternity to eternity
the Lord’s faithful love is toward those who fear him,
and his righteousness toward the grandchildren(U)
18 of those who keep his covenant,
who remember to observe his precepts.(V)
19 The Lord has established his throne in heaven,
and his kingdom rules over all.(W)

20 Bless the Lord,
all his angels of great strength,
who do his word,
obedient to his command.(X)
21 Bless the Lord, all his armies,
his servants who do his will.(Y)
22 Bless the Lord, all his works
in all the places where he rules.(Z)
My soul, bless the Lord!

Zechariah 9:9-12

The Coming of Zion’s King

Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion!
Shout in triumph, Daughter Jerusalem!
Look, your King is coming to you;
he is righteous and victorious,[a]
humble and riding on a donkey,
on a colt, the foal of a donkey.(A)
10 I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim
and the horse from Jerusalem.
The bow of war will be removed,
and he will proclaim peace to the nations.
His dominion will extend from sea to sea,
from the Euphrates River
to the ends of the earth.(B)
11 As for you,
because of the blood of your covenant,(C)
I will release your prisoners
from the waterless cistern.(D)
12 Return to a stronghold,
you prisoners who have hope;
today I declare that I will restore double to you.(E)

Zechariah 12:9-11

On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.

Mourning for the Pierced One

10 “Then I will pour out a spirit[a](A) of grace and prayer on the house of David and the residents of Jerusalem, and they will look at[b] me whom they pierced. They will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child and weep bitterly for him as one weeps for a firstborn.(B) 11 On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning of Hadad-rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.

Zechariah 13:1

God’s People Cleansed

13 “On that day a fountain(A) will be opened for the house of David and for the residents of Jerusalem, to wash away sin and impurity.(B)

Zechariah 13:7-9

Sword, awake against my shepherd,
against the man who is my associate—
this is the declaration of the Lord of Armies.
Strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered;(A)
I will turn my hand against the little ones.
In the whole land—
this is the Lord’s declaration—
two-thirds[a] will be cut off and die,
but a third will be left in it.
I will put this third through the fire;
I will refine them as silver is refined
and test them as gold is tested.(B)
They will call on my name,
and I will answer them.(C)
I will say, ‘They are my people,’
and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’”(D)

1 Timothy 6:12-16

12 Fight the good fight(A) of the faith. Take hold of eternal life(B) to which you were called and about which you have made a good confession in the presence of many witnesses. 13 In the presence of God, who gives life to all,(C) and of Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate,(D) I charge you 14 to keep this command without fault or failure until the appearing(E) of our Lord(F) Jesus Christ. 15 God will bring this about in his own time.(G) He is the blessed and only(H) Sovereign, the King of kings,(I) and the Lord of lords,(J) 16 who alone is immortal and who lives in unapproachable light,(K) whom no one has seen or can see,(L) to him be honor and eternal power.(M) Amen.(N)

Luke 19:41-48

Jesus’s Love for Jerusalem

41 As he approached and saw the city, he wept(A) for it, 42 saying, “If you knew(B) this day what would bring peace—but now it is hidden(C) from your eyes. 43 For the days will come on you(D) when your enemies will build a barricade around you, surround you, and hem you in on every side.(E) 44 They will crush you and your children among you to the ground,(F) and they will not leave one stone on another(G) in your midst, because you did not recognize the time when God visited you.”(H)

Cleansing the Temple

45 He(I) went into the temple and began to throw out those who were selling,[a] 46 and he said, “It is written, my house will be a house of prayer,(J) but you have made it a den of thieves!”[b](K)

47 Every day he was teaching(L) in the temple. The chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people were looking for a way to kill(M) him, 48 but they could not find a way to do it, because all the people(N) were captivated by what they heard.
