Book of Common Prayer
You Have Turned My Mourning into Dancing
A Psalm. A Song at the Dedication of the House. Of David.
30 I will (A)exalt You, O Yahweh, for You have (B)lifted me up,
And have not let my (C)enemies be glad over me.
2 O Yahweh my God,
I (D)cried to You for help, and You (E)healed me.
3 O Yahweh, You have (F)brought up my soul from Sheol;
You have kept me alive, [a]that I would not (G)go down to the pit.
4 (H)Sing praise to Yahweh, you (I)His holy ones,
And (J)give thanks for the (K)remembrance of His holy name.
5 For (L)His anger is but for a moment,
His (M)favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may (N)last for the night,
But a shout of joy comes in the morning.
6 Now as for me, I said in my prosperity,
“I will (O)never be shaken.”
7 O Yahweh, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong;
You (P)hid Your face, I was dismayed.
8 To You, O Yahweh, I called,
And to the Lord I made supplication:
9 “What profit is there in my blood, if I (Q)go down to the pit?
Will the (R)dust praise You? Will it declare Your truth?
10 “(S)Hear, O Yahweh, and be gracious to me;
O Yahweh, be my (T)helper.”
11 You have turned for me (U)my mourning into dancing;
You have (V)loosed my sackcloth and girded me with (W)gladness,
12 That my [b](X)glory may sing praise to You and not be silent.
O Yahweh my God, I will (Y)give thanks to You forever.
You Forgave the Iniquity of My Sin
Of David. A [a]Maskil.
32 (A)How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered!
2 How blessed is the man whose iniquity Yahweh (B)will not take into account,
And in whose spirit there is (C)no deceit!
3 When (D)I kept silent about my sin, (E)my [b]bones wasted away
Through my [c](F)groaning all day long.
4 For day and night (G)Your hand was heavy upon me;
My [d](H)vitality was drained away as with the heat of summer. [e]Selah.
5 I (I)acknowledged my sin to You,
And my iniquity I (J)did not cover up;
I said, “(K)I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh;”
And You (L)forgave the [f]iniquity of my sin. Selah.
6 Therefore, let every holy one pray to You [g](M)at a time when You may be found;
Surely (N)in a flood of great waters they will not reach him.
7 You are (O)my hiding place; You (P)guard me from trouble;
You surround me with [h](Q)songs of deliverance. Selah.
8 I will (R)give you insight and teach you in the way which you should go;
I will counsel you (S)with My eye upon you.
9 Do not be (T)as the horse or as the mule which have no understanding,
Whose harness are bit and bridle to control them,
Otherwise they will not come near you.
10 Many are the (U)sorrows of the wicked,
But (V)he who trusts in Yahweh, lovingkindness shall surround him.
11 Be (W)glad in Yahweh and rejoice, you righteous ones;
And shout for joy, all you who are (X)upright in heart.
BOOK 2
My Soul Thirsts for God
For the choir director. A [a]Maskil of the sons of Korah.
42 As the deer [b]pants for the water brooks,
So my soul [c](A)pants for You, O God.
2 My soul (B)thirsts for God, for the (C)living God;
When shall I come and [d](D)appear before God?
3 My (E)tears have been my food day and night,
While they (F)say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
4 These things I remember and I (G)pour out my soul within me.
For I (H)used to go along with the throng and [e]lead them in procession to the house of God,
With the sound of a (I)shout of joy and thanksgiving, a multitude keeping festival.
5 (J)Why are you [f](K)in despair, O my soul?
And why are you (L)disturbed within me?
(M)Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
[g]For the [h](N)salvation of His presence.
6 O my God, my soul is [i]in despair within me;
Therefore I (O)remember You from (P)the land of the Jordan
And the [j]peaks of (Q)Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
7 Deep calls to deep at the sound of Your waterfalls;
All Your (R)breakers and Your waves have rolled over me.
8 By day, Yahweh will (S)command His lovingkindness;
And (T)by night, His song will be with me,
A prayer to (U)the God of my life.
9 I say to God (V)my rock, “Why have You forgotten me?
Why do I go (W)mourning [k]because of the (X)oppression of the enemy?”
10 As a shattering of my bones, my adversaries reproach me,
While they (Y)say to me all day long, “Where is your God?”
11 (Z)Why are you [l]in despair, O my soul?
And why are you disturbed within me?
Wait for God, for I shall still praise Him,
The salvation of my presence and my God.
Send Out Your Light and Your Truth
43 (AA)Give justice to me, O God, and (AB)plead my case against an unholy nation;
[m]Oh protect me from (AC)the deceitful and unrighteous man!
2 For You are the (AD)God of my strength; why have You (AE)rejected me?
Why do I go (AF)mourning [n]because of the oppression of the enemy?
Contributions for the Sanctuary
25 Then Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “(A)Speak with the sons of Israel so that they take a [a]contribution for Me; (B)from every man whose heart is willing you shall take My [b]contribution. 3 And this is the [c]contribution which you shall take from them: gold, silver, and bronze, 4 [d](C)blue, purple, and scarlet material, fine linen, goat hair, 5 rams’ skins dyed red, porpoise skins, acacia wood, 6 (D)oil for lighting, (E)spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense, 7 onyx stones, and setting stones for the (F)ephod and for the [e](G)breastpiece. 8 And let them (H)make a sanctuary for Me, (I)that I may dwell among them. 9 (J)According to all that I am going to show you, as the pattern of the tabernacle and the pattern of all its furniture, just so you shall make it.
The Ark of the Testimony
10 “(K)And they shall make an ark of acacia wood two and a half [f]cubits [g]long, and one and a half cubits [h]wide, and one and a half cubits [i]high. 11 You shall (L)overlay it with pure gold, inside and out you shall overlay it, and you shall make a gold molding [j]around it. 12 You shall cast four gold rings for it and [k]fasten them on its four feet, and two rings shall be on one side of it and two rings on the other side of it. 13 You shall make poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 14 You shall put the poles into the rings on the sides of the ark, to carry the ark with them. 15 The (M)poles shall [l]remain in the rings of the ark; they shall not be removed from it. 16 You shall (N)put into the ark the testimony which I shall give you.
17 “You shall (O)make a [m]mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half [n]cubits [o]long and one and a half cubits [p]wide. 18 You shall make two cherubim of gold; make them of hammered work [q]at the two ends of the mercy seat. 19 Make one cherub [r]at one end and one cherub [s]at the other end; from one piece you shall make the mercy seat with the cherubim at its two ends. 20 (P)The cherubim shall have their wings spread upward, covering the mercy seat with their wings, with their faces toward one another; the faces of the cherubim are to be toward the mercy seat. 21 (Q)You shall put the mercy seat [t]on top of the ark, and (R)in the ark you shall put the testimony which I will give to you. 22 (S)There I will meet with you; and from above the mercy seat, from (T)between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, I will speak to you about all which I will command you for the sons of Israel.
Put On the New Man
3 Therefore, if you have been (A)raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, (B)seated at the right hand of God. 2 [a](C)Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth. 3 For you (D)died and your life has been hidden with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, (E)who is our life, is manifested, (F)then you also will be manifested with Him in glory.
5 (G)Therefore, [b]consider (H)the members of your earthly body as dead to (I)sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and greed, which is idolatry. 6 On account of these things, (J)the wrath of God is coming [c]upon the sons of disobedience, 7 and (K)in them you also once walked, when you were living [d]in them. 8 But now you also, (L)lay them all aside: (M)wrath, anger, malice, slander, and (N)abusive speech from your mouth. 9 [e](O)Do not lie to one another, since you (P)put off the old man with its evil practices, 10 and have (Q)put on the new man who is being [f](R)renewed to a full knowledge (S)according to the image of the One who (T)created him— 11 a renewal in which (U)there is no distinction between Greek and Jew, (V)circumcised and uncircumcised, [g](W)barbarian, Scythian, (X)slave, and freeman, but (Y)Christ is all and in all.
12 So, as the (Z)elect of God, holy and beloved, (AA)put on a (AB)heart of compassion, kindness, (AC)humility, gentleness, and [h](AD)patience; 13 (AE)bearing with one another, and (AF)graciously forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone, (AG)just as the Lord graciously forgave you, so also should you. 14 Above all these things put on love, which is [i](AH)the perfect bond of (AI)unity. 15 And let (AJ)the peace of Christ [j]rule in your hearts, to which [k]indeed you were called in (AK)one body, and [l]be thankful. 16 Let (AL)the word of [m]Christ dwell in you richly, [n]with all wisdom (AM)teaching and admonishing [o]one another (AN)with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, (AO)singing [p]with gratefulness in your hearts to God. 17 (AP)And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, (AQ)giving thanks to God the Father through Him.
The First Disciples
18 (A)Now as Jesus was walking by (B)the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, (C)Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He *said to them, “[a]Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 And immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 And going on from there He saw two other brothers, [b](D)James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 And immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
Ministry in Galilee
23 And Jesus was going (E)throughout all Galilee, (F)teaching in their synagogues and (G)preaching the [c]gospel of the kingdom, and (H)healing every kind of disease and every kind of sickness among the people.
24 And the news about Him spread (I)throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all who were ill, those suffering with various diseases and pains, (J)demoniacs, [d](K)epileptics, (L)paralytics; and He healed them. 25 And large crowds (M)followed Him from Galilee and (N)the Decapolis and Jerusalem and Judea and from (O)beyond the Jordan.
