Psalm 105

Remember His Wondrous Deeds

105 Oh (A)give thanks to Yahweh, (B)call upon His name;
(C)Make known His acts among the peoples.
Sing to Him, (D)sing praises to Him;
(E)Muse on all His wondrous deeds.
Boast in His holy name;
Let the (F)heart of those who seek Yahweh be glad.
Inquire of Yahweh and (G)His strength;
(H)Seek His face continually.
Remember His (I)wondrous deeds which He has done,
His miracles and the (J)judgments [a]uttered by His mouth,
O seed of (K)Abraham, His servant,
O sons of (L)Jacob, His (M)chosen ones!
He is Yahweh our God;
His (N)judgments are in all the earth.

He has (O)remembered His covenant forever,
The word which He commanded for a (P)thousand generations,
(Q)Which He cut with Abraham,
And His (R)oath to Isaac.
10 Then He (S)confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,
To Israel as an everlasting covenant,
11 Saying, “(T)To you I will give the land of Canaan
As the [b](U)portion of your inheritance,”
12 When they were only a (V)few men in number,
Of little account, and (W)sojourners in it.
13 And they wandered about from nation to nation,
From one kingdom to another people.
14 He (X)permitted no man to oppress them,
And He (Y)reproved kings for their sakes:
15 (Z)Do not touch My anointed ones,
And to My prophets do no evil.”

16 And He (AA)called for a famine upon the land;
He (AB)broke the whole staff of bread.
17 He (AC)sent a man before them,
Joseph, who was (AD)sold as a slave.
18 They afflicted his (AE)feet with fetters,
[c]He himself was laid in irons;
19 Until the time that his (AF)word came to pass,
The word of Yahweh (AG)refined him.
20 The (AH)king sent and released him,
The ruler of peoples sent and set him free.
21 He (AI)set him up as lord of his house
And ruler over all his possessions,
22 To [d]imprison his princes [e](AJ)at will,
And that he might teach his elders wisdom.
23 (AK)Then Israel came to Egypt;
And Jacob (AL)sojourned in the land of Ham.
24 And He (AM)caused His people to be very fruitful,
And He caused them to be stronger than their adversaries.

25 He (AN)turned their heart to hate His people,
To (AO)deal craftily with His slaves.
26 He (AP)sent Moses His servant,
And (AQ)Aaron, whom He had chosen.
27 They (AR)set forth the words of His signs among them,
And miracles in the land of Ham.
28 He (AS)sent darkness and made it dark;
And they did not (AT)rebel against His words.
29 He (AU)turned their waters into blood
And caused their fish to die.
30 Their land swarmed with (AV)frogs
Even in the (AW)chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came a (AX)swarm of flies
And (AY)gnats in all their territory.
32 He [f]gave them (AZ)hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 He also (BA)struck down their vines and their fig trees,
And He shattered the trees of their territory.
34 He spoke, and (BB)locusts came,
And creeping locusts, without number,
35 And [g]they ate up all vegetation in their land,
And [h]they ate up the fruit of their ground.
36 He also (BC)struck down all the firstborn in their land,
The (BD)first of all their vigor.

37 Then He brought them out with (BE)silver and gold,
And there was none among His tribes who stumbled.
38 Egypt was (BF)glad when they went out,
For the (BG)dread of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a (BH)cloud for a [i]covering,
And (BI)fire to give light by night.
40 [j]They (BJ)asked, and He brought (BK)quail,
And He satisfied them with the [k](BL)bread of heaven.
41 He opened the [l]rock and (BM)water flowed out;
[m]It ran in the dry places like a river.
42 For He (BN)remembered His holy word
With Abraham His servant;
43 And He brought His people out with joy,
His chosen ones with a shout of (BO)joy.
44 He (BP)gave them also the lands of the [n]nations,
That they (BQ)might take possession of the fruit of the peoples’ labor,
45 So that they might (BR)keep His statutes
And observe His laws,
[o]Praise Yah!

Exodus 24

Yahweh Cuts His Covenant with Israel

24 Then He said to Moses, “(A)Come up to Yahweh, you and Aaron, (B)Nadab and Abihu and (C)seventy of the elders of Israel, and you all shall worship at a distance. Moses alone, however, shall come near to Yahweh, but they shall not come near, and the people shall not come up with him.”

Then Moses came and recounted to the people all the words of Yahweh and all the judgments; and all the people answered with one voice and said, “(D)All the words which Yahweh has spoken we will do!” (E)And Moses wrote down all the words of Yahweh. Then he arose early in the morning and built an (F)altar [a]at the foot of the mountain with twelve pillars for the twelve tribes of Israel. And he sent young men of the sons of Israel, (G)and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to Yahweh. (H)And Moses took half of the blood and put it in basins, and the other half of the blood he [b]sprinkled on the altar. Then he took (I)the book of the covenant and read it in the hearing of the people; and they said, “(J)All that Yahweh has spoken we will do, and we will be obedient!” So (K)Moses took the blood and [c]sprinkled it on the people and said, “Behold (L)the blood of the covenant, which Yahweh has cut with you [d]in accordance with all these words.”

Then Moses went up [e]with Aaron, (M)Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and (N)they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet [f](O)there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, [g]as clear as the sky itself. 11 Yet He did not stretch out His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and (P)they beheld God, and they ate and drank.

12 Now Yahweh said to Moses, “Come up to Me on the mountain and [h]remain there, and (Q)I will give you the stone tablets [i]with the [j]law and the commandment which I have written for their instruction.” 13 So Moses arose [k]with (R)Joshua his [l]attendant, and Moses went up to (S)the mountain of God. 14 But to the elders he said, “(T)Remain here for us until we return to you. And behold, (U)Aaron and Hur are with you; whoever [m]has a legal matter, let him approach them.” 15 Then Moses went up to the mountain, and (V)the cloud covered the mountain. 16 (W)And the glory of Yahweh dwelt on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it for six days; and on the seventh day He (X)called to Moses from the midst of the cloud. 17 (Y)And the appearance of the glory of Yahweh was like a (Z)consuming fire on the mountain top, in the eyes of the sons of Israel. 18 Then Moses entered the midst of the cloud [n]as he went up to the mountain; and Moses was on the mountain (AA)forty days and forty nights.

Colossians 2:8-23

(A)See to it that no one takes you captive through (B)philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the (C)elementary principles of the world, and not according to Christ. For in Him all the (D)fullness of Deity dwells bodily, 10 and in Him you have been (E)filled, (F)who is the head [a]over all (G)rule and authority; 11 in whom (H)you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of (I)the body of the flesh, in the circumcision of Christ, 12 having been (J)buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also (K)raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who (L)raised Him from the dead. 13 And you being (M)dead [b]in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He (N)made you alive with Him, having graciously forgiven us all our transgressions. 14 Having canceled out (O)the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us which was hostile to us, (P)He also has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15 Having [c](Q)disarmed the (R)rulers and authorities, He (S)made a public display of them, having (T)triumphed over them in [d]Him.

16 Therefore, no one is to (U)judge you in (V)food and (W)drink, or in respect to a (X)festival or a (Y)new moon or a (Z)Sabbath [e]day— 17 things which are only a (AA)shadow of what is to come; but the [f]substance [g]belongs to Christ. 18 Let no one keep [h](AB)defrauding you of your prize by (AC)delighting in [i]self-abasement and the worship of the angels, going into detail about visions he has seen, (AD)being puffed up for nothing by his (AE)fleshly mind, 19 and not holding fast to (AF)the head, from whom (AG)the entire body, being supplied and held together by the joints and [j]ligaments, grows with a growth [k]that is from God.

20 (AH)If you have died with Christ [l]to the (AI)elementary principles of the world, (AJ)why, as if you were living in the world, do you submit yourself to (AK)decrees: 21 “Do not handle, nor taste, nor touch”? 22 Which [m]deal with everything (AL)destined to perish [n]with use, which are in accordance with the (AM)commands and teachings of men; 23 which are matters having, to be sure, a [o]word of wisdom in [p](AN)self-made religion and self-abasement and (AO)severe treatment of the body, but are of no value against (AP)fleshly indulgence.

Matthew 4:12-17

Jesus Begins His Ministry

12 Now when Jesus heard that (A)John had been taken into custody, (B)He departed into Galilee; 13 and leaving Nazareth, He came and (C)lived in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the region of Zebulun and Naphtali, 14 in order that what was spoken through Isaiah the prophet would be fulfilled, saying,

15 (D)The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali,
[a]By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the [b]Gentiles
16 (E)The people who were sitting in darkness saw a great Light,
And those who were sitting in the land and shadow of death,
Upon them a Light dawned.”

17 (F)From that time Jesus began to [c]preach and say, (G)Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
