^2 (A)Now the names of the twelve apostles are these: The first, ^(B)Simon, who is called Peter, and ^(C)Andrew his brother; and ^(D)James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

¹⁸ And I also say to you that you are ^[a](A)Peter, and upon this ^[b]rock I will build My church; and the gates of ^(B)Hades will not overpower it.

^40 (A)One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. ⁴¹ He first *found his own brother Simon and *said to him, “We have found the ^(B)Messiah” (which translated means ^[a]Christ). ⁴² He brought him to Jesus. When Jesus looked at him, He said, “You are Simon the son of ^(C)John; you shall be called ^(D)Cephas” (which is translated ^[b](E)Peter).
