Book of Common Prayer
Yahweh Reigns Forevermore
93 (A)Yahweh [a]reigns, He is (B)clothed with majesty;
Yahweh has (C)clothed and girded Himself with strength;
Indeed, the (D)world is established, it will not be shaken.
2 Your (E)throne is established from of old;
You (F)are from everlasting.
3 The (G)rivers have lifted up, O Yahweh,
The rivers have lifted up their voice,
The rivers lift up their pounding waves.
4 More than the voices of many waters,
Than the mighty breakers of the sea,
Yahweh (H)on high is mighty.
5 Your (I)testimonies are very faithful;
(J)Holiness befits Your house,
O Yahweh, [b]forevermore.
Ascribe to Yahweh Glory and Strength
96 (A)Sing to Yahweh a (B)new song;
Sing to Yahweh, all the earth.
2 Sing to Yahweh, bless His name;
(C)Proclaim good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Recount (D)His glory among the nations,
His wondrous deeds among all the peoples.
4 For (E)great is Yahweh and (F)greatly to be praised;
He is [a]more [b](G)fearsome (H)than all gods.
5 For (I)all the gods of the peoples are [c]idols,
But (J)Yahweh made the heavens.
6 (K)Splendor and majesty are before Him,
Strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7 [d]Ascribe to Yahweh, O (L)families of the peoples,
[e](M)Ascribe to Yahweh glory and strength.
8 Ascribe to Yahweh the (N)glory of His name;
Lift up [f]an (O)offering and come into His courts.
9 (P)Worship Yahweh in the splendor of holiness;
(Q)Tremble before Him, all the earth.
10 Say among the nations, “(R)Yahweh [g]reigns;
Indeed, the (S)world is established, it will not be shaken;
He will (T)render justice to the peoples with [h]equity.”
11 Let the (U)heavens be glad, and let the (V)earth rejoice;
Let (W)the sea [i]roar, as well as its fullness;
12 Let the (X)field exult, and all that is in it.
Then all the (Y)trees of the forest will sing for joy
13 Before Yahweh, (Z)for He is coming,
For He is coming to judge the earth.
(AA)He will judge the world in righteousness
And the peoples in His faithfulness.

The Sabbatical Year
25 Yahweh then spoke to Moses [a]at Mount Sinai, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When you come into the land which I am giving to you, then the land shall have a sabbath to Yahweh. 3 (A)Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard and gather in its produce, 4 but during (B)the seventh year the land shall have a sabbath rest, a sabbath to Yahweh; you shall not sow your field nor prune your vineyard. 5 [b]What grows of its own accord from your harvest you shall not reap, and your grapes of untrimmed vines you shall not gather; the land shall have a sabbatical year. 6 (C)And the sabbath produce of the land shall be for food; for you and your male and female slaves and your hired man and your foreign resident, those who sojourn with you. 7 Even your cattle and the beasts that are in your land shall have all its produce to eat.
The Year of Jubilee
8 ‘You are also to count off seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years, so that you have the time of the seven sabbaths of years, namely, forty-nine years. 9 You shall then sound a ram’s horn abroad on (D)the tenth day of the seventh month; on the day of atonement you shall sound a horn all through your land. 10 You shall thus set apart as holy the fiftieth year and (E)proclaim [c]a release through the land to all its inhabitants. It shall be a jubilee for you, [d]and (F)each of you shall return to his own possession of land, [e]and each of you shall return to his family. 11 You shall have the fiftieth year as a jubilee; you shall not sow; you shall not reap what grows of its own accord; you shall not gather in from its untrimmed vines. 12 For it is a jubilee; it shall be holy to you. You shall eat its produce out of the field.
13 ‘(G)On this year of jubilee, each of you shall return to his own possession of land. 14 If you make a sale, moreover, to your companion or buy from your friend’s hand, (H)you shall not mistreat one another. 15 Corresponding to the number of years after the jubilee, you shall buy from your [f]companion; he is to sell to you according to the number of years of produce. 16 (I)In proportion to the [g]extent of the years you shall increase its price, and in proportion to the fewness of the years you shall diminish its price, for it is the number of crops it produces that he is selling to you. 17 So (J)you shall not mistreat one another, but you shall [h]fear your God; for I am Yahweh your God.
2 (A)Consider it all joy, my brothers, when you encounter (B)various [a]trials, 3 knowing that (C)the testing of your (D)faith brings about (E)perseverance. 4 And let (F)perseverance have its perfect work, so that you may be [b](G)perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.
5 But if any of you (H)lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and [c]without reproach, and (I)it will be given to him. 6 But he must (J)ask in faith, (K)doubting nothing, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, (L)driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that man ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a [d](M)double-minded man, (N)unstable in all his ways.
16 (A)Do not be [a]deceived, (B)my beloved brothers. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is (C)from above, coming down from (D)the Father of lights, (E)with whom there is no variation or [b]shifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of (F)His will He (G)brought us forth by (H)the word of truth, so that we would be [c]a kind of (I)first fruits [d]among His creatures.
Parable of the Rich Fool
13 And someone from the crowd said to Him, “Teacher, tell my brother to divide the family inheritance with me.” 14 But He said to him, “(A)Man, who appointed Me a judge or arbitrator over you?” 15 Then He said to them, “(B)Watch out and be on your guard against every form of greed, for not even when one has an abundance does his life consist of his possessions.” 16 And He told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man was very productive. 17 And he began reasoning to himself, saying, ‘What shall I do, since I have no place to store my crops?’ 18 Then he said, ‘This is what I will do: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, (C)you have many goods laid up for many years to come; take your ease, eat, drink and be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘(D)You fool! This very night [a](E)your soul is required of you; and (F)now who will own what you prepared?’ 21 So is the one who (G)stores up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.”
