Psalm 85

Prayer for God’s Mercy upon the Nation.

For the choir director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

85 O Lord, You showed (A)favor to Your land;
You [a](B)restored the captivity of Jacob.
You (C)forgave the iniquity of Your people;
You (D)covered all their sin. [b]Selah.
You (E)withdrew all Your fury;
You (F)turned away from Your burning anger.

(G)Restore us, O God of our salvation,
And (H)cause Your indignation toward us to cease.
Will (I)You be angry with us forever?
Will You prolong Your anger to [c]all generations?
Will You not Yourself [d](J)revive us again,
That Your people may (K)rejoice in You?
Show us Your lovingkindness, O Lord,
And (L)grant us Your salvation.

[e]I will hear what God the Lord will say;
For He will (M)speak peace to His people, [f]to His godly ones;
But let them not (N)turn back to [g]folly.
Surely (O)His salvation is near to those who [h]fear Him,
That (P)glory may dwell in our land.
10 (Q)Lovingkindness and [i]truth have met together;
(R)Righteousness and peace have kissed each other.
11 [j]Truth (S)springs from the earth,
And righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 Indeed, (T)the Lord will give what is good,
And our (U)land will yield its produce.
13 (V)Righteousness will go before Him
And will make His footsteps into a way.

Psalm 87

The Privileges of Citizenship in Zion.

A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song.

87 His (A)foundation is in the holy mountains.
The Lord (B)loves the gates of Zion
More than all the other dwelling places of Jacob.
(C)Glorious things are spoken of you,
O (D)city of God. [a]Selah.
“I shall mention [b](E)Rahab and Babylon [c]among those who know Me;
Behold, Philistia and (F)Tyre with [d](G)Ethiopia:
‘This one was born there.’”
But of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in her”;
And the Most High Himself will (H)establish her.
The Lord will count when He (I)registers the peoples,
“This one was born there.” Selah.
Then those who (J)sing as well as those who [e](K)play the flutes shall say,
“All my (L)springs of joy are in you.”

Psalm 89:1-29

The Lord’s Covenant with David, and Israel’s Afflictions.

A [a]Maskil of [b]Ethan [c]the Ezrahite.

89 I will (A)sing of the lovingkindness of the Lord forever;
To all generations I will (B)make known Your (C)faithfulness with my mouth.
For I have said, “(D)Lovingkindness will be built up forever;
In the heavens You will establish Your (E)faithfulness.”
“I have made a covenant with (F)My chosen;
I have (G)sworn to David My servant,
I will establish your (H)seed forever
And build up your (I)throne to all generations.” [d]Selah.

The (J)heavens will praise Your wonders, O Lord;
Your faithfulness also (K)in the assembly of the (L)holy ones.
For (M)who in the skies is comparable to the Lord?
Who among the [e](N)sons of the mighty is like the Lord,
A God (O)greatly feared in the council of the (P)holy ones,
And (Q)awesome above all those who are around Him?
O Lord God of hosts, (R)who is like You, O mighty [f]Lord?
Your faithfulness also surrounds You.
You rule the swelling of the sea;
When its waves rise, You (S)still them.
10 You Yourself crushed [g](T)Rahab like one who is slain;
You (U)scattered Your enemies with [h]Your mighty arm.

11 The (V)heavens are Yours, the earth also is Yours;
The (W)world and [i]all it contains, You have founded them.
12 The (X)north and the south, You have created them;
(Y)Tabor and (Z)Hermon (AA)shout for joy at Your name.
13 You have [j]a strong arm;
Your hand is mighty, Your (AB)right hand is exalted.
14 (AC)Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Your throne;
(AD)Lovingkindness and [k]truth go before You.
15 How blessed are the people who know the [l](AE)joyful sound!
O Lord, they walk in the (AF)light of Your countenance.
16 In (AG)Your name they rejoice all the day,
And by Your righteousness they are exalted.
17 For You are the glory of (AH)their strength,
And by Your favor [m]our (AI)horn is exalted.
18 For our (AJ)shield belongs to the Lord,
[n]And our king to the (AK)Holy One of Israel.

19 [o]Once You spoke in vision to Your godly [p]ones,
And said, “I have [q]given help to one who is (AL)mighty;
I have exalted one (AM)chosen from the people.
20 “I have (AN)found David My servant;
With My holy (AO)oil I have anointed him,
21 With whom (AP)My hand will be established;
My arm also will (AQ)strengthen him.
22 “The enemy will not [r]deceive him,
Nor the [s](AR)son of wickedness afflict him.
23 “But I shall (AS)crush his adversaries before him,
And strike those who hate him.
24 “My (AT)faithfulness and My lovingkindness will be with him,
And in My name his (AU)horn will be exalted.
25 “I shall also set his hand (AV)on the sea
And his right hand on the rivers.
26 “He will cry to Me, ‘You are (AW)my Father,
My God, and the (AX)rock of my salvation.’
27 “I also shall make him My (AY)firstborn,
The (AZ)highest of the kings of the earth.
28 “My (BA)lovingkindness I will keep for him forever,
And My (BB)covenant shall be confirmed to him.
29 “So I will establish his [t](BC)descendants forever
And his (BD)throne (BE)as the days of heaven.

Exodus 3:1-12

The Burning Bush

Now Moses was pasturing the flock of (A)Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian; and he led the flock to the [a]west side of the wilderness and came to (B)Horeb, the (C)mountain of God. (D)The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a blazing fire from the midst of [b]a (E)bush; and he looked, and behold, the bush was burning with fire, yet the bush was not consumed. So Moses said, “[c](F)I must turn aside now and see this [d]marvelous sight, why the bush is not burned up.” When the Lord saw that he turned aside to look, (G)God called to him from the midst of the bush and said, “Moses, Moses!” And he said, “Here I am.” Then He said, “Do not come near here; (H)remove your sandals from your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground.” He said also, “(I)I am the God of your father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” (J)Then Moses hid his face, for he was (K)afraid to look at God.

The Lord said, “I have surely (L)seen the affliction of My people who are in Egypt, and have given heed to their cry because of their taskmasters, for I am aware of their sufferings. So I have come down (M)to deliver them from the [e]power of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a (N)good and spacious land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of (O)the Canaanite and the Hittite and the Amorite and the Perizzite and the Hivite and the Jebusite. Now, behold, (P)the cry of the sons of Israel has come to Me; furthermore, I have seen the oppression with which the Egyptians are oppressing them.

The Mission of Moses

10 Therefore, come now, and I will send you to Pharaoh, (Q)so that you may bring My people, the sons of Israel, out of Egypt.” 11 But Moses said to God, “(R)Who am I, that I should go to Pharaoh, and that I should bring the sons of Israel out of Egypt?” 12 And He said, “Certainly (S)I will be with you, and this shall be the sign to you that it is I who have sent you: (T)when you have brought the people out of Egypt, (U)you shall [f]worship God at this mountain.”

Hebrews 11:23-31

23 By faith (A)Moses, when he was born, was hidden for three months by his parents, because they saw he was a beautiful child; and they were not afraid of the (B)king’s edict. 24 By faith Moses, (C)when he had grown up, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to (D)endure ill-treatment with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 (E)considering the reproach of [a]Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt; for he was looking to the (F)reward. 27 By faith he (G)left Egypt, not (H)fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured, as (I)seeing Him who is unseen. 28 By faith he [b](J)kept the Passover and the sprinkling of the blood, so that (K)he who destroyed the firstborn would not touch them. 29 By faith they (L)passed through the Red Sea as though they were passing through dry land; and the Egyptians, when they attempted it, were [c]drowned.

30 By faith (M)the walls of Jericho fell down (N)after they had been encircled for seven days. 31 By faith (O)Rahab the harlot did not perish along with those who were disobedient, after she had welcomed the spies [d]in peace.

John 14:6-14

Jesus *said to him, “I am (A)the way, and (B)the truth, and (C)the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me.

Oneness with the Father

(D)If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; from now on you (E)know Him, and have (F)seen Him.”

(G)Philip *said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.” Jesus *said to him, “Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? (H)He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that (I)I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me? (J)The words that I say to you I do not speak on My own initiative, but the Father abiding in Me does His works. 11 Believe Me that (K)I am in the Father and the Father is in Me; otherwise (L)believe because of the works themselves. 12 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and (M)greater works than these he will do; because (N)I go to the Father. 13 (O)Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that (P)the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask Me anything (Q)in My name, I will do it.
