Book of Common Prayer
The Voice of the Lord in the Storm.
A Psalm of David.
29 (A)Ascribe to the Lord, O [a]sons of the mighty,
Ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory [b]due to His name;
Worship the Lord (B)in [c]holy array.
3 The (C)voice of the Lord is upon the waters;
The God of glory (D)thunders,
The Lord is over [d](E)many waters.
4 The voice of the Lord is (F)powerful,
The voice of the Lord is majestic.
5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;
Yes, the Lord breaks in pieces (G)the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon (H)skip like a calf,
And (I)Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the Lord hews out [e]flames of fire.
8 The voice of the Lord [f]shakes the wilderness;
The Lord shakes the wilderness of (J)Kadesh.
9 The voice of the Lord makes (K)the deer to calve
And strips the forests bare;
And (L)in His temple everything says, “Glory!”
A Call to Praise the Lord for His Righteousness.
A Psalm.
98 O sing to the Lord a (A)new song,
For He has done (B)wonderful things,
His (C)right hand and His (D)holy arm have [a]gained the victory for Him.
2 (E)The Lord has made known His salvation;
He has (F)revealed His [b]righteousness in the sight of the nations.
3 He has (G)remembered His lovingkindness and His faithfulness to the house of Israel;
(H)All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.
18 “For I [a]know their works and their (A)thoughts; [b]the time is coming to (B)gather all nations and tongues. And they shall come and see My glory. 19 I will set a (C)sign among them and will send survivors from them to the nations: (D)Tarshish, [c]Put, (E)Lud, [d]Meshech, (F)Tubal and [e]Javan, to the distant (G)coastlands that have neither heard My fame nor seen My glory. And they will (H)declare My glory among the nations. 20 Then they shall (I)bring all your brethren from all the nations as a grain offering to the Lord, on horses, in chariots, in litters, on mules and on camels, to My (J)holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the Lord, “just as the sons of Israel bring their grain offering in a (K)clean vessel to the house of the Lord. 21 I will also take some of them for (L)priests and for Levites,” says the Lord.
22 “For just as the (M)new heavens and the new earth
Which I make will endure before Me,” declares the Lord,
“So your (N)offspring and your (O)name will endure.
23 “And it shall be from (P)new moon to new moon
And from sabbath to sabbath,
All [f]mankind will come to (Q)bow down before Me,” says the Lord.
7 Therefore, (A)accept one another, just as Christ also accepted [a]us to the glory of God. 8 For I say that Christ has become a servant to (B)the circumcision on behalf of the truth of God to confirm (C)the promises given to the fathers, 9 and for (D)the Gentiles to (E)glorify God for His mercy; as it is written,
10 Again he says,
“(G)Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people.”
11 And again,
“(H)Praise the Lord all you Gentiles,
And let all the peoples praise Him.”
12 Again Isaiah says,
“(I)There shall come (J)the root of Jesse,
And He who arises to rule over the Gentiles,
(K)In Him shall the Gentiles hope.”
13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all (L)joy and peace in believing, so that you will abound in hope (M)by the power of the Holy Spirit.
