61 1 Whether that he were in danger of the Ammonites, or being pursued of Absalom, here he crieth to be heard and delivered, 7 And confirmed in his kingdom. 8 He promiseth perpetual praises.

1 Hear my cry, O God: give ear unto my prayer.
2 From [a]the ends of the earth will I cry unto thee: when mine heart is oppressed, bring me upon the rock that is [b]higher than I.
3 For thou hast been my hope, and a strong tower against the enemy.
4 I will dwell in thy Tabernacle forever, and my trust shall be under the covering of thy wings. Selah.
5 For thou, O God, [c]hast heard my desires; thou hast given an heritage unto those that fear thy Name.
6 Thou shalt give the King a [d]long life; his years shall be as many ages.
7 He shall dwell before God forever; prepare [e]mercy and faithfulness, that they may preserve him.
8 So will I always sing praise unto thy Name, in performing daily my vows.
62 This Psalm partly containeth meditation, whereby David encourageth himself to trust in God against the assaults of temptations. And because our minds are easily drawn from God by the allurements of the world, he sharply reproveth this vanity, to the intent he might cleave fast to the Lord.

1 Yet [f]my soul keepeth silence unto God; of him cometh my salvation.
2 [g]Yet he is my strength and my salvation, and my defense; therefore I shall not much be moved.
3 How long will ye imagine mischief against a [h]man? ye shall be all slain; ye shall be as a bowed wall, or as a [i]wall shaken.
4 Yet they consult to cast him down from his dignity; their delight is in lies: they bless with their mouths, but curse with their hearts. Selah.
5 [j]Yet my soul, keep thou silence unto God: for mine hope is in him.
6 Yet is he my strength and my salvation, and my defense: therefore I shall not be moved.
7 In God is my salvation and my [k]glory, the rock of my strength; in God is my trust.
8 Trust in him always, ye people; [l]pour out your hearts before him, for God is our hope. Selah.
9 Yet the children of men are vanity, the chief men are liars: to lay them upon a balance they are altogether lighter than vanity.
10 Trust not in oppression nor in robbery: [m]be not vain: if riches increase, set not your heart thereon.
11 God spake [n]once or twice, I have heard it, that power belongeth unto God,
12 And to thee, O Lord, mercy: for thou [o]rewardest everyone according to his work.
68 1 In this Psalm David setteth forth as in a glass the wonderful mercies of God toward his people: 5 Who by all means and most strange sorts declared himself to them. 15 And therefore God’s Church by reason of his promises, graces, and victories, doth excel without comparison all worldly things. 34 He exhorteth therefore all men to praise God forever.
To him that excelleth. A Psalm or song of David.
1 God [a]will arise, and his enemies shall be scattered: they also that hate him, shall flee before him.
2 As the smoke vanisheth, so shalt thou drive them away: and as wax melteth before the fire, so shall the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 [b]But the righteous shall be glad, and rejoice before God: yea, they shall leap for joy.
4 Sing unto God, and sing praises unto his name: exalt him that rideth upon the heavens, in his Name [c]Jah, and rejoice before him.
5 He is a Father of the fatherless, and a Judge of the widows, even God in his holy habitation.
6 God [d]maketh the solitary to dwell in families, and delivereth them that were prisoners in stocks: but the rebellious shall dwell in a [e]dry land.
7 [f]O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people: when thou wentest through the wilderness, (Selah.)
8 The earth shook, and the heavens dropped at the presence of this God: even Sinai was moved at the presence of God, even the God of Israel.
9 Thou, O God, sentest a gracious rain upon thine inheritance, and thou didst refresh it when it was weary.
10 Thy Congregation dwelled therein: for thou, O God, hast of thy [g]goodness prepared it for the poor.
11 The Lord gave matter to the [h]women to tell of the great army.
12 Kings of the armies did flee: they did flee, and [i]she that remained in the house, divided the spoil.
13 Though ye have lain among [j]pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove that is covered with silver, and whose feathers are like yellow gold.
14 When the Almighty scattered kings [k]in it, it was white as the snow in Zalmon.
15 [l]The mountain of God is like the mountain of Bashan: it is an high mountain, as mount Bashan.
16 [m]Why leap ye, ye high mountains? as for this Mountain, God delighteth to dwell in it: yea, the Lord will dwell in it forever.
17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand thousand Angels, and the Lord is among them, as in the Sanctuary of Sinai.
18 Thou art gone up on high: thou hast [n]led captivity captive, and received gifts for men: yea, even the rebellious hast thou led, that the Lord God might dwell there.
19 Praised be the Lord, even the God of our salvation, which ladeth us daily with benefits. Selah.
20 This is our God, even the God that saveth us: and to the Lord God belong the [o]issues of death.
21 Surely God will wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy pate of him that walketh in his sins.
22 The Lord hath said, I will bring my people again from [p]Bashan: I will bring them again from the depths of the Sea:
23 That thy foot may be dipped in blood, and the tongue of thy dogs in the blood of the enemies, even in [q]it.
24 They have seen, O God, thy [r]goings, the goings of my God, and my king, which art in the Sanctuary.
25 The [s]singers went before, the players of instruments after: in the midst were the maids playing with timbrels.
26 Praise ye God in the assemblies, and the Lord, ye that are of the fountain [t]of Israel.
27 There was [u]little Benjamin with their [v]ruler, and the Princes of Judah with their assembly, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
28 Thy GOD hath appointed thy strength: establish, O God, that which thou first wrought in us,
29 [w]Out of thy Temple upon Jerusalem, and kings shall bring presents unto thee.
30 Destroy the company of the spearmen, and multitude of the mighty bulls with the calves of the people, that [x]tread under feet pieces of silver: scatter the people that delight in war.
31 Then shall the princes come out [y]of Egypt: Ethiopia shall haste to stretch her hands unto God.
32 Sing unto God, O ye kingdoms of the earth: sing praise unto the Lord, (Selah)
33 To him that rideth upon the most high heavens, which were from the beginning: behold, he will send out by his [z]voice a mighty sound.
34 Ascribe the power to God: for his majesty is upon Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
35 O God, thou art [aa]terrible out of thine holy [ab]places: the God of Israel is he that giveth strength and power unto the people: praised be God.
2 1 The Angel rebuketh the people, because they had made peace with the Canaanites. 11 The Israelites fell to idolatry after Joshua’s death. 14 They are delivered into the enemies’ hands: 16 God delivereth them by Judges. 21 Why God suffered idolaters to remain among them.
1 And an [a]Angel of the Lord came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I had sworn unto your fathers, and said, I will never break my covenant with you.
2 (A)Ye also shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land, (B)but shall break down their altars: but ye have not obeyed my voice. Why have ye done this?
3 Wherefore, I said also, I will not cast them out before you, but they shall be (C)as thorns unto your sides, and their gods shall be your [b]destruction.
4 And when the Angel of the Lord spake these words unto all the children of Israel, the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5 Therefore they called the name of that place, [c]Bochim, and offered sacrifices there unto the Lord.
11 ¶ Then the children of Israel did wickedly in the sight of the Lord, and served [a]Baal,
12 And forsook the Lord God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt and followed other gods, even the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed unto them, and provoked the Lord to anger.
13 So they forsook the Lord, and served (A)Baal, and [b]Ashtoreth.
14 And the wrath of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers, that spoiled them, and he (B)sold them into the hands of their enemies round about them, so that they could no longer stand before their enemies.
15 [c]Whithersoever they went out, the [d]hand of the Lord was sore against them, as the Lord had said, and as the Lord had sworn unto them: so he punished them sore.
16 ¶ Notwithstanding, the Lord raised up [e]Judges, which [f]delivered them out of the hands of their oppressors.
17 But yet they would not obey their Judges for they went a whoring after other gods, and worshipped them, and turned quickly out of the [g]way, wherein their fathers walked, obeying the commandments of the Lord: they did not so.
18 And when the Lord had raised them up Judges, the Lord was with the Judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the Judge (for the Lord [h]had compassion of their groanings, [i]because of them that oppressed them and tormented them.)
19 Yet (C)when the Judge was dead, they returned, and [j]did worse than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them and worship them: they ceased not from their own inventions, nor from their rebellious way.
20 Wherefore the wrath of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he said, Because this people hath transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and hath not obeyed my voice,
21 Therefore will I no more cast out before them any of the [k]nations, which Joshua left when he died,
22 That through them I may [l]prove Israel, whether they will keep the way of the Lord, to walk therein, as their fathers kept it, or not.
23 So the Lord left those nations, and drove them not out immediately, neither delivered them into the hand of Joshua.
17 ¶ [a]Now I beseech you brethren, [b]mark them diligently which cause division and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned, and (A)avoid them.
18 For they that are such, serve not the Lord Jesus Christ but their own bellies, and with [c]fair speech and flattering deceive the hearts of the simple.
19 [d]For your obedience is come abroad among all: I am glad therefore of you: but yet I would have you [e]wise unto that which is good, and [f]simple concerning evil.
20 [g]The God of peace shall tread Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
21 (B)[h]Timothy my helper, and Lucius and Jason, and Sosipater my kinsmen, salute you.
22 I Tertius, which [i]wrote out this Epistle, salute you in the Lord.
23 Gaius mine host, and of the whole Church saluteth you. Erastus the steward of the city saluteth you, and Quartus a brother.
24 [j]The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all, Amen.
25 (C)[k]To him now that is of power to establish you according to my Gospel, and preaching of Jesus Christ, (D)by the revelation of the [l]mystery, which was kept secret since the world began:
26 (But now is opened, and [m]published among all nations by the Scriptures of the Prophets, at the commandment of the everlasting God for the obedience of faith.)
27 To God, I say, only wise, be praise through Jesus Christ for ever. Amen.

32 (A)And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, named Simon: him they [a]compelled to bear his cross.

34 [c]They gave him vinegar to drink, mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
35 ¶ [d]And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, and did cast lots, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken by the Prophet, (C)They divided my garments among them, and upon my vesture did cast lots.
36 And they sat and watched him there.
37 ¶ [e]They set up also over his head his cause written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
38 ¶ [f]And there were two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
39 [g]And they that passed by, reviled him, wagging their heads,
40 And saying, (D)Thou that destroyest the Temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself: if thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
41 Likewise also the high Priests mocking him, with the Scribes, and Elders, and Pharisees, said,
42 He saved others, but he cannot save himself: if he be the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in him.
43 (E)He trusted in God, let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
44 The self same thing also the [h]thieves which were crucified with him, cast in his teeth.
