Psalm 145

145 This Psalm was composed when the kingdom of David flourished. 1 Wherein he describeth the wonderful providence of God, as well in governing man, as in preserving all the rest of his creatures. 17 He praiseth God for his justice and mercy. 18 But specially for his loving-kindness toward those that call upon him, that fear him, and love him:  21 For the which he promiseth to praise him forever.

A Psalm of David of praise.

O my God and King, [a]I will extol thee, and will bless thy Name forever and ever.

I will bless thee daily, and praise thy Name forever and ever.

[b]Great is the Lord, and most worthy to be praised, and his greatness is incomprehensible.

Generation shall praise thy works unto [c]generation, and declare thy power.

I will meditate of the beauty of thy glorious majesty, and thy wonderful works.

And they shall speak of the power of thy [d]dreadful acts, and I will declare thy greatness.

They shall break out into the mention of thy great goodness, and shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

(A)The Lord is gracious, and [e]merciful, slow to anger, and of great mercy.

The Lord is good to all, and his mercies are over all his works.

10 All thy works praise thee, O Lord, and thy Saints bless thee.

11 [f]They show the glory of thy kingdom, and speak of thy power,

12 To cause his [g]power to be known to the sons of men, and the glorious renown of his kingdom.

13 Thy (B)kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all ages.

14 The Lord upholdeth all that [h]fall, and lifteth up all that are ready to fall.

15 The eyes of [i]all wait upon thee, and thou givest them their meat in due season.

16 Thou openest thine hand, and fillest all things living of thy good pleasure.

17 The Lord is [j]righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.

18 The Lord is near unto all that call upon him, yea, to all that call upon him in [k]truth.

19 He will fulfill the [l]desire of them that fear him; he will also hear their cry, and will save them.

20 The Lord preserveth all them that love him; but he will destroy the wicked.

21 My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord, and all [m]flesh shall bless his holy Name forever and ever.

Psalm 104

104 1 An excellent Psalm to praise God for the creation of the world, and the governance of the same by his marvelous providence. 35 Wherein the Prophet prayeth against the wicked, who are occasions that God diminisheth his blessings.

My soul, praise thou the Lord: O Lord my God, thou art exceeding great, thou art [a]clothed with glory and honor.

Which covereth himself with light, as with a garment, and spreadeth the heavens like a curtain.

Which layeth the beams of his chambers in the waters, and maketh the clouds his chariot, and walketh upon the wings of the wind.

Which [b]maketh the spirits his messengers, and a flaming fire his ministers.

He set the earth upon her foundations, so that it shall never move.

Thou coverest it with the [c]deep as with a garment: the [d]waters would stand above the mountains.

But at thy rebuke they flee: at the voice of thy thunder they haste away.

And the mountains ascend, and the valleys descend to the place which thou hast established for them.

But thou hast set them a bound which they shall not pass: they shall not return to cover the earth.

10 He sendeth the springs into the valleys, which run between the mountains.

11 They shall give drink to all the [e]beasts of the field, and the wild asses shall quench their thirst.

12 By these [f]springs shall the fowls of the heaven dwell, and sing among the branches.

13 He watereth the mountains from his [g]chambers, and the earth is filled with the fruit of thy works.

14 He causeth grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the use of [h]man, that he may bring forth bread out of the earth,

15 And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread that strengtheneth man’s heart.

16 The high trees are satisfied, even the cedars of Lebanon, which he hath planted,

17 That the birds may make their nests there: the stork dwelleth in the fir trees.

18 The high mountains are for the [i]goats: the rocks are a refuge for the conies.

19 He appointed [j]the moon for certain seasons: [k]the sun knoweth his going down.

20 Thou makest darkness, and it is night, wherein all the beasts of the forest creep forth.

21 The lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat [l]at God.

22 When the sun riseth, they retire, and couch in their dens.

23 [m]Then goeth man forth to his work, and to his labor until the evening.

24 O Lord, how [n]manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.

25 So is the sea great and wide: for therein are things creeping innumerable, both small beasts and great.

26 There go the ships, yea that [o]Leviathan, whom thou hast made to play therein.

27 [p]All these wait upon thee, that thou mayest give them food in due season.

28 Thou givest it to them, and they gather it, thou openest thy hand, and they are filled with good things.

29 But if thou [q]hide thy face, they are troubled: if thou take away their breath, they die and return to their dust:

30 Again if thou [r]send forth thy spirit, they are created, and thou renewest the face of the earth.

31 Glory be to the Lord forever: let the Lord rejoice in his works.

32 He looketh on the earth and it trembleth: he toucheth the mountains, and they [s]smoke.

33 I will sing unto the Lord all my life: I will praise my God, while I live.

34 Let my words be acceptable unto him: I will rejoice in the Lord.

35 Let the sinners be [t]consumed out of the earth, and the wicked till there be no more: O my soul, praise thou the Lord. Praise ye the Lord.

Exodus 13:17-14:4

17 ¶ Now when Pharaoh had let the people go, God carried them not by the way of the Philistines’ country, [a]though it were nearer: (for God said, Lest the people repent when they [b]see war, and turn again to Egypt).

18 But God made the people to go about by the way of the wilderness of the red sea: and the children of Israel went up [c]armed out of the land of Egypt.

19 (And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had made the children of Israel swear, saying, (A)God will surely visit you, and ye shall take my bones away hence with you.)

20 (B)So they took their journey from Succoth, and camped in Etham in the edge of the wilderness.

21 (C)And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a [d]cloud to lead them the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, that they might go both by day and by night.

22 (D)He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night from before the people.

14 4, 8 Pharaoh’s heart is hardened, and pursueth the Israelites. 11 The Israelites stricken with fear, murmur against Moses. 13 Moses doth encourage them. 21 He divideth the Sea. 23, 27 The Egyptians follow and are drowned.

Then the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

Speak to the children of Israel, that they [e]return and camp before [f]Pi Hahiroth, between Migdol and the Sea, over against (E)Baal Zephon: about it shall ye camp by the Sea.

For Pharaoh will say of the children of Israel, They are tangled in the land: the wilderness hath shut them in.

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart that he shall follow after you: so I will [g]get me honor upon Pharaoh, and upon all his host: the Egyptians also shall know that I am the Lord: and they did so.

2 Corinthians 4:16-5:10

16 Therefore we faint not, [a]but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is [b]renewed daily.

17 For our [c]light affliction which is but for a moment, causeth unto us a far most excellent and an eternal weight of [d]glory:

18 While we look not on the things which are seen, but on the things which are not seen for the things which are seen, are temporal: but the things which are not seen, are eternal.

1 He continueth in the same argument, 5 touching the certain hope of salvation 7 through faith, 12 not to praise himself, 14 seeing he hath God and his Church before his eyes, 17 and esteemeth nothing, but newness of life in Christ.

For [e]we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle be destroyed, we have a building given of God, that is, an house not made with hands, but eternal in the heavens.

For therefore we sigh, desiring to be [f]clothed with our house, which is from [g]heaven.

[h]Because that if we be clothed, we shall not be found (A)naked.

For indeed we that are in this tabernacle, sigh and are burdened because we would not be unclothed, but would be clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life.

And he that hath [i]created us for this thing, is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit.

[j]Therefore we are always [k]bold, though we know that while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord.

(For we walk by [l]faith, and not by sight.)

Nevertheless, we are [m]bold, and love rather to remove out of the body, and to dwell with the Lord.

Wherefore also we [n]covet, that both dwelling at home, and removing from home, we may be acceptable to him.

10 (B)[o]For we must all [p]appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that every man may receive the things which are done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or evil.

Mark 12:18-27

18 (A)[a]Then came the Sadducees unto him, (which say, there is no resurrection) and they asked him, saying,

19 Master, (B)Moses wrote unto us, If any man’s brother die, and leave his wife, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20 There were seven brethren, and the first took a wife, and when he died, left no issue.

21 Then the second took her, and he died, neither did he yet leave issue, and the third likewise:

22 So these seven had her, and left no issue: last of all the wife died also.

23 In the resurrection then, when they shall rise again, whose wife shall she be of them? for seven had her to wife.

24 Then Jesus answered, and said unto them, Are ye not therefore deceived, because ye know not the Scriptures, neither the power of God?

25 For when they shall rise again from the dead, neither men marry, nor wives are married, but are as the Angels which are in heaven.

26 And as touching the dead, that they shall rise again, have ye not read in the book of Moses how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I (C)am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27 God is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living. Ye are therefore greatly deceived.
