^31 (A)Do not envy a man of violence
And do not choose any of his ways.
³² For the ^(B)devious one is an abomination to Yahweh;
But His ^(C)secret council is with the upright.
³³ The ^(D)curse of Yahweh is on the house of the wicked one,
But He ^(E)blesses the abode of the righteous.

^14 (A)Do not enter the path of wicked men
And do not step into the way of evil men.
¹⁵ Avoid it, do not pass by it;
^(B)Stray from it and pass on.
¹⁶ For they ^(C)do not sleep unless they do evil;
And ^[a]they are robbed of sleep unless they make someone stumble.
¹⁷ For they ^(D)eat the bread of wickedness
And drink the wine of violence.
¹⁸ But the ^(E)path of the righteous is like the ^(F)light of dawn,
That ^(G)shines brighter and brighter until the ^(H)fullness of day.
¹⁹ The ^(I)way of the wicked is like thick darkness;
They do not know over what they ^[b](J)stumble.

²² His ^(A)own iniquities will capture him who is the wicked one,
And with the cords of his sin he will be held fast.
²³ He will ^(B)die for lack of discipline,
And in the abundance of his ^[a]folly he will ^[b]stumble in intoxication.

¹² A ^(A)vile person, a wicked man,
Is the one who walks with a ^(B)perverse mouth,
¹³ Who ^(C)winks with his eyes, who ^[a]signals with his feet,
Who ^[b]points with his fingers;
¹⁴ Who with ^(D)perversity in his heart continually ^(E)devises evil,
Who ^[c](F)spreads contentions.
¹⁵ Therefore ^(G)his disaster will come suddenly;
^(H)Instantly he will be broken and there will be ^(I)no healing.

¹⁰ When it ^(A)goes well with the righteous, the city exults,
And when the wicked perish, there is joyful shouting.
¹¹ By the blessing of the upright a city is raised up,
But by the mouth of the wicked it is torn down.

⁵ The thoughts of the righteous are just,
But the guidance of the wicked is deceitful.
⁶ The ^(A)words of the wicked lie in wait for blood,
But the ^(B)mouth of the upright will deliver them.
⁷ The ^(C)wicked are overthrown and are no more,
But the ^(D)house of the righteous will stand.

¹⁰ A ^(A)righteous man knows the value of the life of his animal,
But even the compassion of the wicked is cruel.
