Psalm 142

Give Heed to My Cry

A [a]Maskil of David. When he was [b]in the cave. A Prayer.

142 With my voice to Yahweh, I (A)cry aloud;
With my voice to Yahweh, I (B)make supplication.
I (C)pour out my complaint before Him;
I declare my (D)distress before Him.
When (E)my spirit [c]was faint within me,
You knew my path.
In the way where I walk
They have (F)hidden a trap for me.
Look to the right and see;
That there is (G)no one who regards me;
(H)A way of escape has been destroyed from me;
(I)No one cares for my soul.

I cried out to You, O Yahweh;
I said, “You are (J)my refuge,
My (K)portion in the (L)land of the living.
(M)Give heed to my cry of lamentation,
For I am (N)brought very low;
Deliver me from my persecutors,
For they are too (O)strong for me.
(P)Bring my soul out of prison,
To give thanks to Your name;
The righteous will encircle me,
For You will (Q)deal bountifully with me.”

Habakkuk 2:12-20

12 “Woe to him who (A)builds a city with bloodshed
And founds a town with injustice!
13 Is it not, behold, from Yahweh of hosts
That peoples (B)toil for fire,
And nations grow weary for nothing?
14 For the earth will be (C)filled
With the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh,
As the waters cover the sea.

15 “Woe to you who make [a]your neighbors drink,
Who mix in your venom even to make them drunk
So as to look on their nakedness!
16 You will be filled with disgrace rather than glory.
Now you yourself (D)drink and [b]expose your own nakedness.
The (E)cup in Yahweh’s right hand will come around to you,
And (F)utter disgrace will come upon your glory.
17 For the (G)violence [c]done to Lebanon will cover you,
And the devastation of its beasts [d]by which you terrified them,
(H)Because of human bloodshed and (I)violence [e]done to the land,
To the town and all its inhabitants.

18 “What (J)profit is the graven image when its maker has engraved it,
Or a molten image, a (K)teacher of [f]lies?
For its maker (L)trusts in his own making
When he fashions speechless idols.
19 Woe to him who (M)says to a piece of wood, ‘(N)Awake!’
To a mute stone, ‘Arise!’
And that is your teacher?
Behold, it is overlaid with (O)gold and silver,
And there is (P)no breath at all inside it.
20 But (Q)Yahweh is in His holy temple.
[g]Let all the earth (R)be silent before Him.”

1 Corinthians 5:9-13

I wrote you in my letter (A)not to associate with sexually immoral people; 10 I did not at all mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the greedy and swindlers, or with (B)idolaters, for then you would have to go out of the world. 11 But now I am writing to you not to associate [a]with any so-called (C)brother if he is a sexually immoral person, or greedy, or (D)an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or a swindler—not even to eat with such a one. 12 For what have I to do with judging (E)outsiders? (F)Are you not to judge those who are within the church? 13 But those who are outside, God will judge. (G)Remove the wicked man from among yourselves.
