Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
Longing for God
A psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah.[a]
63 O God, you are my God;
I will seek you diligently.
My soul thirsts for you; my flesh longs for you
as in a dry and weary land without water.
2 Thus I have seen you in the sanctuary,
beholding your strength and glory.
3 Because your loyal love is better than life,
my lips will praise you.
4 So I will bless you while I live.
I will lift up my hands[b] in your name.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the best and richest food,
and with joyful lips my mouth will praise.
6 When I remember you on my bed,
I meditate on you in the night watches.
7 Because you have been my help,
therefore[c] in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy.
8 My soul clings to[d] you;
your right hand upholds me.
The Time of the Judgment and the Resurrection of Two Groups
12 “Now at that time, Michael, the great prince, will arise, the protector[a] over the sons of your people, and it will be a time of distress that has not been since your people have been[b] a nation until that time. And at that time your people will escape, everyone who is found[c] written in the scroll.[d] 2 And many from those sleeping in the dusty ground[e] will awake, some to everlasting life[f] and some to disgrace and everlasting contempt.[g] 3 But the ones having insight will shine like the brightness of the expanse, and the ones providing justice for the many[h] will be like the stars forever and ever.[i] 4 But you, Daniel, keep the words secret and seal the scroll[j] until the time of the end; many will run back and forth and knowledge will increase.”
The Letter to the Church in Sardis
3 “And to the angel of the church in Sardis write:
“This is what the one who has the seven spirits of God and the seven stars says: ‘I know your works, that you have a name that you are alive, and you are dead. 2 Be on the alert and strengthen the remaining things that are about to die, for I have not found your works completed before my God. 3 Therefore remember how you have received and heard, and observe it, and repent. If therefore you are not on the alert, I will come like a thief, and you will never know at what hour I will come against you. 4 But you have a few people[a] in Sardis who have not defiled their clothing, and they will walk with me in white, because they are worthy. 5 The one who conquers in this way will be dressed in white clothing, and I will never erase his name from the book of life, and I will declare his name before my Father and before his angels. 6 The one who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’
