Psalm 99

Yahweh Is a Holy King

99 Yahweh is king; let the peoples tremble.
He sits enthroned[a] between the cherubim. Let the earth shake.
Yahweh is great in Zion,
and he is exalted over all the peoples.
Let them praise your great and fearful name.
He is holy.
And the strength of the king loves justice.[b]
You have established equity;
you have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.
Exalt Yahweh our God,
and worship at his footstool.
He is holy.
Moses and Aaron were among his priests;
Samuel also was among those who called on his name.
They called to Yahweh, and he answered them.
He spoke to them in the pillar of cloud.
They kept his testimonies and the statute he gave to them.
O Yahweh our God, you answered them.
You were a forgiving God to them,
but an avenger of their wrong deeds.
Exalt Yahweh our God,
and worship at his holy mountain,
for Yahweh our God is holy.

Deuteronomy 9:15-24

15 “And I turned, and I went down the mountain, as the mountain was burning with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands. 16 And I looked,[a] and indeed you had sinned against Yahweh your God; you had made for yourselves an image of a calf of cast metal; [b] you had turned quickly from the way that Yahweh had commanded for you. 17 And I took hold of the two tablets, and I threw them out of[c] my two hands and smashed them before your eyes. 18 And then I lay prostrate before[d] Yahweh, as earlier, forty days[e] and forty nights;[f] I did not eat food and I did not drink water because of all your sins that you committed, by doing evil in the eyes of Yahweh and so provoking him. 19 For I was in dread[g] from being in the presence of the anger and the wrath with which Yahweh was angry with you so as to destroy you, but Yahweh listened to me also at that time.[h] 20 And with Aaron Yahweh was angry enough[i] to destroy him, and I prayed also for Aaron at that time. 21 And your sinful thing that you had made, the molten calf, I took and I burned it with fire, and I crushed it, grinding it thoroughly until it was crushed to dust, and I threw its dust into the stream that flowed down the mountain.[j]

22 “And also at Taberah and at Massah and at Kibroth Hattaavah you provoked Yahweh to anger. 23 And when Yahweh sent you out from Kadesh Barnea, saying,[k] ‘Go up and take possession of the land that I have given you,’ you rebelled against the command of Yahweh your God, and you did not believe him, and you did not listen to his voice. 24 You have been rebellious toward Yahweh from the day I have known you.[l]

Luke 10:21-24

Jesus Rejoices and Prays

21 At that same time he rejoiced in the Holy Spirit and said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to young children. Yes, Father, for this was pleasing before you. 22 All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows who the Son is except the Father and who the Father is except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wants to reveal him.”[a]

23 And turning to the disciples, he said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see the things which you see! 24 For I tell you that many prophets and kings desired to see the things which you see, and did not see them,[b] and to hear the things which you hear, and did not hear them.”[c]
