Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Death of David
10 Then (A)David slept with his fathers and was buried in (B)the city of David. 11 (C)And the [a]time which David reigned over Israel was forty years; in Hebron he reigned (D)seven years and in Jerusalem he reigned thirty-three years. 12 And (E)Solomon sat on the throne of David his father, and his kingdom was firmly established.
3 And (A)Solomon loved Yahweh, (B)walking in the statutes of his father David, except he sacrificed and burned incense on the high places. 4 (C)And the king went to (D)Gibeon to sacrifice there, (E)for that was the great high place; Solomon offered one thousand burnt offerings on that altar. 5 (F)In Gibeon, Yahweh appeared to Solomon (G)in a dream at night; and God said, “(H)Ask what I should give to you.”
God Gives Wisdom to Solomon
6 Then Solomon said, “(I)You have shown great lovingkindness to Your slave David my father, (J)according to how he walked before You in [a]truth and righteousness and uprightness of heart toward You; and (K)You have kept for him this great lovingkindness, that You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 So now, O Yahweh my God, (L)You have made Your slave king in place of my father David, yet (M)I am but a little child; (N)I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 (O)And Your slave is in the midst of Your people which You have chosen, (P)a numerous people who are too many to be numbered or counted. 9 So (Q)give Your slave a listening heart to judge Your people (R)to discern between good and evil. For who is able to [b]judge this glorious people of Yours?”
10 [c]And it was pleasing in the sight of the Lord that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 And God said to him, “Because you have asked this thing and have (S)not asked for yourself [d]long life, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have you asked for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself discernment to listen to justice, 12 behold, (T)I have done according to your words. Behold, (U)I have given you a wise and discerning heart, so that there has been no one like you before you, nor shall one like you arise after you. 13 (V)I have also given you what you have not asked, both (W)riches and honor, so that there will not be any among the kings like you all your days. 14 (X)Now if you walk in My ways, keeping My statutes and commandments, as your father David walked, then I will (Y)prolong your days.”

15 Therefore look carefully how you (A)walk, not (B)as unwise but as wise, 16 (C)redeeming the time, because (D)the days are evil. 17 On account of this, do not be foolish, but (E)understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And (F)do not get drunk with wine, [a]for that is (G)dissipation, but be (H)filled with the Spirit, 19 (I)speaking to [b]one another in (J)psalms and (K)hymns and spiritual (L)songs, (M)singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord; 20 (N)always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to [c](O)God, even the Father;
51 (A)I am the living bread that (B)came down from heaven; if anyone eats of this bread, (C)he will live forever; and also the bread which I will give (D)for the life of the world is (E)My flesh.”
52 (F)Then the Jews (G)began to argue with one another, saying, “How can this man give us His flesh to eat?” 53 So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of (H)the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in yourselves. 54 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will (I)raise him up on the last day. 55 For My flesh is true food, and My blood is true drink. 56 He who eats My flesh and drinks My blood (J)abides in Me, and I in him. 57 As the (K)living Father (L)sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who eats Me, he also will live because of Me. 58 This is the bread which (M)came down out of heaven, not as (N)the fathers ate and died. He who eats this bread (O)will live forever.”
