Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
5 ¶ And it came to pass on the morrow, that their [a]rulers, and Elders, and Scribes, were gathered together at Jerusalem,
6 And Annas the chief Priest, and Caiaphas, and John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the [b]kindred of the high Priest.
7 [c]And when they had set them before them, they asked, By what power, or in what [d]Name have ye done this?
8 Then Peter full of the holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and Elders of Israel,
9 [e]For as much as we this day are examined, of the good deed done to the impotent man, to wit, by what means he is made whole,
10 [f]Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye have crucified, whom God raised again from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you, whole.
11 (A)This is the stone cast aside of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for among men there is [g]given none other [h]Name [i]under heaven, whereby we must be saved.
23 1 Because the Prophet had proved the great mercies of God at divers times, and in sundry manners, he gathereth a certain assurance, fully persuading himself that God will continue the very same goodness towards him forever.
A Psalm of David.
1 The Lord is my (A)shepherd, [a]I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to rest in green pasture, and leadeth me by the still waters.
3 He [b]restoreth my soul, and leadeth me in the [c]paths of righteousness for his Name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I should walk through the valley of the [d]shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for thou art with me: thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me.
5 Thou dost prepare a [e]table before me in the sight of mine adversaries: thou dost [f]anoint mine head with oil, and my cup runneth over.
6 Doubtless kindness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall remain a long season in the [g]house of the Lord.
16 (A)[a]Hereby have we perceived love, that he laid down his life for us: therefore we ought also to lay down our lives for the brethren.
17 (B)[b]And whosoever hath this [c]world’s good, and seeth his brother have need, and [d]shutteth up his compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
18 [e]My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue only, but in deed and in truth.
19 [f]For thereby we know that we are of the truth, [g]and shall before him assure our hearts.
20 For [h]if our hearts condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
21 [i]Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we boldness toward God.
22 (C)[j]And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things which are pleasing in his sight.
23 (D)This is then his commandment, that we believe in the Name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave commandment.
24 (E)For he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him: and hereby we know that he abideth in us, even by that [k]Spirit which he hath given us.
11 (A)I am that good shepherd: that good shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.
12 But an hireling, and he which is not the shepherd, neither the sheep are his own, seeth the wolf coming, and he leaveth the sheep, and fleeth, and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.
13 So the hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.
14 I am that good shepherd, and know mine, and am known of mine.
15 As the Father [a]knoweth me, so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for my sheep.
16 [b]Other sheep I have also, which are not of this fold: them also must I bring, and they shall hear my voice: and (B)there shall be [c]one sheepfold, and one shepherd.
17 [d]Therefore doth my Father love me, because (C)[e]I lay down my life, that I might take it again.
18 No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and have power to take it again: this (D)commandment have I received of my Father.
