Version
Psalm 85:1-2

Psalm 85[a]

For the music director, written by the Korahites, a psalm.

85 O Lord, you showed favor to your land;
you restored the well-being of Jacob.[b]
You pardoned[c] the wrongdoing of your people;
you forgave[d] all their sin. (Selah)

Psalm 85:8-13

I will listen to what God the Lord says.[a]
For he will make[b] peace with his people, his faithful followers.[c]
Yet they must not[d] return to their foolish ways.
Certainly his loyal followers will soon experience his deliverance;[e]
then his splendor will again appear in our land.[f]
10 Loyal love and faithfulness meet;[g]
deliverance and peace greet each other with a kiss.[h]
11 Faithfulness grows from the ground,
and deliverance looks down from the sky.[i]
12 Yes, the Lord will bestow his good blessings,[j]
and our land will yield[k] its crops.
13 Deliverance goes[l] before him,
and prepares[m] a pathway for him.[n]

Jeremiah 1:4-10

Jeremiah’s Call and Commission

The Lord’s message came to me,

“Before I formed you in your mother’s womb[a] I chose you.[b]
Before you were born I set you apart.
I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations.”

I answered, “Oh, Sovereign Lord,[c] Really[d] I do not know how to speak well enough for that,[e] for I am too young.”[f] The Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ But go[g] to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you. Do not be afraid of those to whom I send you,[h] for I will be with you to protect[i] you,” says the Lord. Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I will most assuredly give you the words you are to speak for me.[j] 10 Know for certain that[k] I hereby give you the authority to announce to nations and kingdoms that they will be[l] uprooted and torn down, destroyed and demolished, rebuilt and firmly planted.”[m]

Acts 11:19-26

Activity in the Church at Antioch

19 Now those who had been scattered because of the persecution that took place over Stephen[a] went as far as[b] Phoenicia,[c] Cyprus,[d] and Antioch,[e] speaking the message[f] to no one but Jews. 20 But there were some men from Cyprus[g] and Cyrene[h] among them who came[i] to Antioch[j] and began to speak to the Greeks[k] too, proclaiming the good news of the Lord Jesus. 21 The[l] hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number who believed[m] turned[n] to the Lord. 22 A report[o] about them came to the attention[p] of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent Barnabas[q] to Antioch.[r] 23 When[s] he came and saw the grace of God, he rejoiced and encouraged them all to remain true[t] to the Lord with devoted hearts,[u] 24 because he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith, and a significant number of people[v] were brought to the Lord. 25 Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to look for Saul, 26 and when he found him, he brought him to Antioch.[w] So[x] for a whole year Barnabas and Saul[y] met with the church and taught a significant number of people.[z] Now it was in Antioch[aa] that the disciples were first called Christians.[ab]
