A Psalm of David.
28 To You, Lord, I call;
My (A)rock, do not be deaf to me,
For if You (B)are silent to me,
I will become like those who (C)go down to the pit.
2 Hear the (D)sound of my pleadings when I cry to You for help,
When I (E)raise my hands (F)toward [a]Your holy (G)sanctuary.
3 (H)Do not drag me away with the wicked
And with those who practice injustice,
Who (I)speak peace with their neighbors,
While evil is in their hearts.
4 Give back to them (J)according to their work and according to the evil of their practices;
Give back to them according to the work of their hands;
Repay them what is due them.
5 Because they (K)do not regard the works of the Lord
Nor the deeds of His hands,
He will tear them down and not build them up.
6 Blessed be the Lord,
Because He (L)has heard the sound of my pleading.
7 The Lord is my (M)strength and my (N)shield;
My heart (O)trusts in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore (P)my heart triumphs,
And with (Q)my song I shall thank Him.
8 The Lord is [b]their (R)strength,
And He is a refuge of (S)salvation to His anointed.
9 (T)Save Your people and bless (U)Your inheritance;
Be their (V)shepherd also, and (W)carry them forever.
Joshua to Succeed Moses
15 Then Moses spoke to the Lord, saying, 16 “(A)May the Lord, the God of the spirits of [a]humanity, appoint a man over the congregation, 17 who (B)will go out [b]and come in before them, and lead them out and [c]bring them in, so that the congregation of the Lord will not be (C)like sheep that have no shepherd.” 18 So the Lord said to Moses, “[d]Take Joshua the son of Nun, a man (D)in whom is the Spirit, and (E)lay your hand on him; 19 and have him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation, and (F)commission him in their sight. 20 And you shall put some of your [e]authority on him, so that all the congregation of the sons of Israel will obey him. 21 Moreover, he shall stand before Eleazar the priest, who shall inquire for him (G)by the judgment of the Urim before the Lord. At his [f]command they shall go out, and at his [g]command they shall come in, both he and all the sons of Israel with him, all the congregation.” 22 Then Moses did just as the Lord commanded him; he took Joshua and had him stand before Eleazar the priest and before all the congregation. 23 Then he laid his hands on him and (H)commissioned him, just as the Lord had spoken [h]through Moses.
8 Remember Jesus Christ, (A)risen from the dead, (B)descendant of David, (C)according to my gospel, 9 [a]for which I (D)suffer hardship even to (E)imprisonment as a (F)criminal; but (G)the word of God (H)is not imprisoned. 10 For this reason (I)I endure all things for (J)the sake of [b]those who are chosen, (K)so that they also may obtain the (L)salvation which is in (M)Christ Jesus and with it (N)eternal glory. 11 (O)The statement is trustworthy:
