Psalm 106:1-6

Israel’s Rebelliousness and the Lords Help.

106 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
Oh (A)give thanks to the Lord, for He (B)is good;
For (C)His mercy is everlasting.
Who can speak of the (D)mighty deeds of the Lord,
Or can proclaim all His praise?
How blessed are those who maintain [c]justice,
[d]Who (E)practice righteousness at all times!

Remember me, Lord, in Your (F)favor [e]toward Your people.
Visit me with Your salvation,
So that I may see the (G)prosperity of Your chosen ones,
That I may (H)rejoice in the joy of Your nation,
That I may (I)boast with Your [f]inheritance.

(J)We have sinned [g](K)like our fathers,
We have gone astray, we have behaved wickedly.

Psalm 106:19-23

19 They (A)made a calf in Horeb,
And worshiped a cast metal image.
20 So they (B)exchanged their glory
For the image of an ox that eats grass.
21 They (C)forgot God their Savior,
Who had done (D)great things in Egypt,
22 [a](E)Wonders in the land of Ham,
And awesome things by the [b]Red Sea.
23 Therefore (F)He said that He would destroy them,
If (G)Moses, His chosen one, had not stood in the gap before Him,
To turn away His wrath from destroying them.

Exodus 24:9-11

Then Moses went up [a]with Aaron, (A)Nadab and Abihu, and seventy of the elders of Israel, 10 and (B)they saw the God of Israel; and under His feet [b](C)there appeared to be a pavement of sapphire, [c]as clear as the sky itself. 11 Yet He did not reach out with His hand against the nobles of the sons of Israel; and (D)they saw God, and they ate and drank.

James 4:4-10

You (A)adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with (B)the world is (C)hostility toward God? (D)Therefore whoever wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. Or do you think that the Scripture (E)says to no purpose, “[a]He [b]jealously desires (F)the Spirit whom He has made to dwell in us”? But (G)He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “(H)God is opposed to the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” (I)Submit therefore to God. But [c](J)resist the devil, and he will flee from you. (K)Come close to God and He will come close to you. (L)Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and (M)purify your hearts, you [d](N)double-minded. (O)Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom. 10 (P)Humble yourselves in the presence of the Lord, and He will exalt you.
