49 Remember the word to Your servant,
[a]In which You have made me hope.
50 This is my (A)comfort in my misery,
That Your word has [b]revived me.
51 The arrogant (B)utterly deride me,
Yet I do not (C)turn aside from Your Law.
52 I have (D)remembered Your judgments from [c]of old, Lord,
And comfort myself.
53 Burning (E)indignation has seized me because of the wicked,
Who (F)abandon Your Law.
54 Your statutes are my songs
In the house of my (G)pilgrimage.
55 Lord, I (H)remember Your name (I)in the night,
And keep Your Law.
56 This has become mine,
[d]That I (J)comply with Your precepts.
10 “Then it shall come about when the Lord your God brings you into the land that He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you, (A)great and splendid cities which you did not build, 11 and houses full of all good things which you did not fill, and carved cisterns which you did not carve out, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant, and (B)you eat and are satisfied, 12 be [a]careful that (C)you do not forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of [b]slavery. 13 (D)You shall [c]fear only the Lord your God; and you shall [d]worship Him and (E)swear by His name. 14 (F)You shall not follow other gods, any of the gods of the peoples who surround you, 15 for the Lord your God who is in the midst of you is a (G)jealous God; so follow Him, or else the anger of the Lord your God will be kindled against you, and He will [e]wipe you off the face of the earth.
16 “(H)You shall not put the Lord your God to the test, (I)as you tested Him at Massah. 17 (J)You shall diligently keep the commandments of the Lord your God, and His provisions and His statutes which He has commanded you. 18 You shall do what is right and good in the sight of the Lord, so that (K)it may go well for you and that you may go in and take possession of the good land which the Lord swore to give your fathers, 19 by driving out all your enemies from you, as the Lord has spoken.
20 “(L)When your son asks you in time to come, saying, ‘What do the provisions and the statutes and the judgments mean which the Lord our God commanded you?’ 21 then you shall say to your son, ‘We were slaves to Pharaoh in Egypt, and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand. 22 Moreover, the Lord provided great and terrible signs and wonders before our eyes against Egypt, Pharaoh, and all his household; 23 He brought us out of there in order to bring us in, to give us the land which He had sworn to our fathers.’ 24 So the Lord commanded us to [f]follow all these statutes, (M)to fear the Lord our God for our own good always and (N)for our survival, as it is today. 25 And (O)it will be righteousness for us if we are careful to [g]follow all this commandment before the Lord our God, just as He commanded us.
45 (A)Therefore many of the Jews (B)who came to Mary, and (C)saw what He had done, believed in Him. 46 But some of them went to the (D)Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.
Conspiracy to Kill Jesus
47 Therefore (E)the chief priests and the Pharisees (F)convened a (G)council meeting, and they were saying, “What are we [a]doing in regard to the fact that this Man is performing many [b](H)signs? 48 If we let Him go on like this, all the people will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and take over both our [c](I)place and our nation.” 49 But one of them, (J)Caiaphas, (K)who was high priest that year, said to them, “You know nothing at all, 50 nor are you taking into account that (L)it is in your best interest that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish instead.” 51 Now he did not say this [d]on his own, but (M)as he was high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was going to die for the nation; 52 and not for the nation only, but in order that He might also (N)gather together into one the children of God who are scattered abroad. 53 So from that day on they (O)planned together to kill Him.
54 Therefore Jesus (P)no longer continued to walk publicly among the Jews, but went away from there to the region near the wilderness, into a city called (Q)Ephraim; and there He stayed with the disciples.
55 Now (R)the Passover of the Jews was near, and many went up to Jerusalem from the country prior to the Passover, (S)in order to [e]purify themselves. 56 So they (T)were looking for Jesus, and saying to one another as they stood in the temple area, “What do you think; that He will not come to the feast at all?” 57 Now (U)the chief priests and the Pharisees had given orders that if anyone knew where He was, he was to report it, so that they might arrest Him.
