Psalm 149

Psalm 149

Praise the Lord!

Sing unto the Lord a new song,
    and His praise in the assembly of the godly ones.

Let Israel rejoice in its Maker;
    let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
Let them praise His name with dancing;
    let them sing praises unto Him with the tambourine and harp.
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
    He will beautify the meek with salvation.
Let the godly ones be joyful in glory;
    let them sing for joy on their beds.

Let the high praises of God be in their mouths,
    and two-edged swords in their hands,
to execute vengeance on the nations,
    and punishments on the peoples;
to bind their kings with chains,
    and their nobles with shackles of iron;
to execute upon them the written judgment;
    this is honor for all His godly ones.

Praise the Lord!

Exodus 10:21-29

The Ninth Plague: Darkness

21 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand toward the heavens, so that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, a darkness which may be felt.” 22 So Moses stretched forth his hand toward the heavens, and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt for three days. 23 They did not see one another; nor did anyone rise from his place for three days. But all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.

24 Then Pharaoh called to Moses and said, “Go, serve the Lord. Only let your flocks and your herds be detained. Even let your little ones also go with you.”

25 But Moses said, “You must also give us sacrifices and burnt offerings, so that we may sacrifice to the Lord our God. 26 Our livestock will go with us also. Not a hoof will be left behind, for we must take of them to serve the Lord our God. And we do not know with what we must serve the Lord, until we get there.”

27 But the Lord hardened Pharaoh’s heart, and he would not let them go. 28 So Pharaoh said to him, “Get away from me! Watch yourself, do not see my face anymore; for in the day you see my face you shall die.”

29 Then Moses said, “As you wish. I will never see your face again.”

Romans 10:15-21

15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, who bring good news of good things!”[a]

16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?”[b] 17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18 But I say, have they not heard? Yes, indeed:

“Their voice went into all the earth,
    and their words to the ends of the world.”[c]

19 But I say, did Israel not know? First, Moses says:

“I will make you jealous by those who are not a nation,
    and by a foolish nation I will anger you.”[d]

20 And Isaiah is very bold and says:

“I was found by those who did not seek Me;
    I revealed myself to those who did not ask for Me.”[e]

21 But to Israel He says:

“All day long I have stretched out My hands
    to a disobedient and contrary people.”[f]
