Version
Acts 1:6-14

So, when they had come together, they began asking Him, saying, “Lord, (A)is it at this time that You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” But He said to them, “It is not for you to know periods of time or appointed times which (B)the Father has set by His own authority; but you will receive power (C)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be (D)My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and (E)Samaria, and as far as (F)the remotest part of the earth.”

The Ascension

And after He had said these things, (G)He was lifted up while they were watching, and a cloud took Him up, out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was going, then behold, (H)two men in white clothing stood beside them, 11 and they said, “(I)Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who (J)has been taken up from you into heaven, will (K)come in the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

The Upper Room

12 Then they (L)returned to Jerusalem from the [a](M)mountain called [b]Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a [c]Sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they had entered the city, they went up to (N)the upstairs room where they were staying, that is, (O)Peter, John, [d]James, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, [e]James the son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and (P)Judas the [f]son of [g]James. 14 All these (Q)were continually devoting themselves with one [h]mind to prayer, along with (R)the women, and Mary the (S)mother of Jesus, and with His (T)brothers.

Psalm 68:1-10

The God of Sinai and of the Sanctuary.

For the music director. A Psalm of David. A Song.

68 [a]May (A)God arise, [b]may His enemies be scattered,
And [c]may those who hate Him flee from His presence.
As (B)smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
As (C)wax melts before a fire,
So the (D)wicked will perish before God.
But the (E)righteous will be joyful; they will rejoice before God;
Yes, they will rejoice with gladness.
Sing to God, (F)sing praises to His name;
[d](G)Exalt Him who (H)rides through the deserts,
Whose (I)name is [e]the Lord, and be jubilant before Him.

A (J)father of the fatherless and a (K)judge [f]for the widows,
Is God in His (L)holy dwelling.
God [g](M)makes a home for the lonely;
He (N)leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only (O)the rebellious live in parched lands.

God, when You (P)went forth before Your people,
When You (Q)marched through the desert, Selah
The (R)earth quaked;
The (S)heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
[h](T)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
You (U)made plentiful rain fall, God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was [i]parched.
10 Your creatures settled in it;
In Your kindness You (V)provided for the poor, God.

Psalm 68:32-35

32 Sing to God, you (A)kingdoms of the earth,
(B)Sing praises to the Lord, Selah
33 To Him who (C)rides upon the [a](D)highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, (E)He [b]speaks with His voice, a (F)mighty voice.
34 (G)Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel,
And (H)His strength is in the [c]skies.
35 [d]God, You are (I)awesome from Your [e]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself (J)gives strength and power to the people.
(K)Blessed be God!

1 Peter 4:12-14

Share the Sufferings of Christ

12 (A)Beloved, do not be surprised at the (B)fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though something strange were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you (C)share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that at the (D)revelation of His glory (E)you may also rejoice and be overjoyed. 14 If you are insulted [a](F)for the name of Christ, (G)you are blessed, (H)because the Spirit of glory, and of God, rests upon you.

1 Peter 5:6-11

Therefore (A)humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, so that He may exalt you at the proper time, having cast all your (B)anxiety on Him, because He cares about you. (C)Be of sober spirit, (D)be on the alert. Your adversary, (E)the devil, prowls around like a roaring (F)lion, seeking someone to devour. [a](G)So resist him, (H)firm in your faith, knowing that (I)the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your [b]brothers and sisters who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered (J)for a little while, the (K)God of all grace, who (L)called you to His (M)eternal glory in Christ, will Himself (N)perfect, (O)confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 11 (P)To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.

John 17:1-11

The High Priestly Prayer

17 Jesus spoke these things; and (A)raising His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; (B)glorify Your Son, so that the Son may glorify You, just as (C)You gave Him authority over all [a]mankind, so that [b](D)to all whom You have given Him, (E)He may give eternal life. And this is eternal life, that they may know You, (F)the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom (G)You have sent. (H)I glorified You on the earth [c](I)by accomplishing the work which You have given Me to do. And now You, Father, (J)glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had (K)with You before the world existed.

(L)I have revealed Your name to the men whom (M)You gave Me out of the world; they were (N)Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have (O)followed Your word. Now they have come to know that everything which You have given Me is from You; for (P)the words which You gave Me (Q)I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that (R)I came forth from You, and they believed that (S)You sent Me. (T)I ask on their behalf; (U)I do not ask on behalf of the world, but on the behalf of those whom (V)You have given Me, because (W)they are Yours; 10 and (X)all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 I am no longer going to be in the world; and yet (Y)they themselves are in the world, and (Z)I am coming to You. (AA)Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name (AB)which You have given Me, so that (AC)they may be one just as We are.
