Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
A Psalm of Complaint and of Praise.
For the music director. A Psalm of David.
31 (A)In You, Lord, I have taken refuge;
Let me never (B)be [a]put to shame;
(C)In Your righteousness rescue me.
2 (D)Incline Your ear to me, rescue me quickly;
Be a (E)rock of [b]strength for me,
A [c]stronghold to save me.
3 For You are my rock and (F)my fortress;
For the (G)sake of Your name You will lead me and guide me.
4 You will (H)pull me out of the net which they have secretly laid for me,
For You are my (I)strength.
5 (J)Into Your hand I entrust my spirit;
You have (K)redeemed me, Lord, (L)God of [d]truth.
Abram Journeys to Egypt
12 Now (A)the Lord said to Abram,
“Go from your country,
And from your relatives
And from your father’s house,
To the land which I will show you;
2 And (B)I will make you into a great nation,
And (C)I will bless you,
And make your name great;
And you shall (D)be a blessing;
3 And (E)I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who [a]curses you I will [b]curse.
(F)And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed.”
8 And Stephen, full of grace and power, was performing great (A)wonders and [a]signs among the people. 9 But some men from what was called the Synagogue of the Freedmen, including both (B)Cyrenians and (C)Alexandrians, and some from (D)Cilicia and [b](E)Asia, rose up and argued with Stephen. 10 But they were unable to [c]cope with his wisdom and the Spirit by whom he was speaking. 11 Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.” 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and they (F)came up to him and dragged him away, and brought him [d]before (G)the [e]Council. 13 They put forward (H)false witnesses who said, “This man does not stop [f]speaking against this (I)holy place and the Law; 14 for we have heard him say that (J)this Nazarene, Jesus, will destroy this place and change (K)the customs which Moses handed down to us.” 15 And all who were sitting in the [g](L)Council stared at him, and they saw his face, which was like the face of an angel.
