A Call to Praise the Lord

A psalm of thanks.

100 Shout to the Lord, all the earth.
²Serve the Lord with joy;
come before him with singing.
³Know that the Lord is God.
He made us [Gen. 1–2], and ·we belong to him [or not ourselves];
we are his people, the sheep ·he tends [^Lof his pasture; 74:1; 79:13; John 10:11–14].

⁴Come into his ·city [^Lgates] with songs of thanksgiving
    and into his courtyards with songs of praise.
    ·Thank [Praise] him and ·praise [bless] his name.
⁵The Lord is good. His ·love [loyalty] is forever,
    and his ·loyalty [faithfulness] ·goes on and on [^Lfor all generations].

Ezekiel 34:23-31

²³Then I will put over them one shepherd, my servant David [Is. 11:1; Jer. 30:9; Hos. 3:5; Mic. 5:2; ^Cthe Messiah envisioned as a new David]. He will feed them and tend them and be their shepherd. ²⁴Then I, the Lord, will be their God, and my servant David will be a ·ruler [prince] among them. I, the Lord, have spoken.

²⁵“‘I will make an ·agreement [covenant; treaty] of peace with ·my sheep [^Lthem] and will remove ·harmful animals [wild beasts] from the land. Then the sheep will live safely in the ·desert [wilderness] and sleep in the woods. ²⁶I will ·bless them and let them live around my hill [or make them and the regions around my hill a blessing]. I will cause ·the rains [showers] to come ·when it is time [in their season]; there will be showers to bless them. ²⁷Also the trees ·in the countryside [^Lof the field] will ·give [yield] their fruit, and the land will give its ·harvest [produce; increase]. And the sheep will ·be safe [live securely] on their land. Then they will know that I am the Lord when I break the bars of their ·captivity [^Lyoke] and ·save [rescue] them from the ·power [^Lhand] of those who made them slaves. ²⁸They will not be ·led captive by [prey for] the nations again. The wild animals will not ·eat [devour] them, but they will live safely, and no one will make them afraid. ²⁹I will give them a place famous for its good crops, so they will no longer ·suffer from hunger [be victims of famine] in the land. They will not suffer the insults of other nations anymore. ³⁰Then they will know that I, the Lord their God, am with them. The nation [^Lhouse] of Israel will know that they are my people, says the Lord God. ³¹You, my sheep, are the human sheep ·I care for [^Lof my pasture; Ps. 95:7; 100:3], and I am your God, says the Lord God.’”

Hebrews 13:20-21

·I pray that the God of peace will [or May the God of peace] ·give you [equip/prepare you with] every good thing you need so you can do ·what he wants [his will]. This God of peace raised from the dead our Lord Jesus, the Great Shepherd of the sheep [Ps. 23; John 10:11–18], ·because of [or through; by] the ·blood of his death [^Lblood] ·that began the eternal agreement that God made with his people [^Lof the eternal covenant/contract; 8:1–13]. I pray that God will do in us what ·pleases [is acceptable to] him, through Jesus Christ, and to him be glory forever and ever. Amen.
