Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
To the Overcomer: A Psalm for the sons of Korah.
1 ¶ O clap your hands, all ye people; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
3 He shall guide the peoples under us, and the Gentiles under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. Selah.
5 ¶ God is gone up with a shout of joy, the LORD with the sound of the shofar.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises; sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth; sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the Gentiles; God sits upon the throne of his holiness.
9 The princes of the peoples have joined the people of the God of Abraham; for the shields of the earth belong unto God; he is greatly exalted.
36 And it came to pass at the time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that Elijah the prophet came near and said, LORD God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel and that I am thy slave and that I have done all these things at thy word.
37 Answer me, O LORD, answer me, that this people may know that thou art the LORD God and that thou shalt convert their heart back again to thee.
38 Then fire of the LORD fell, which consumed the burnt sacrifice and the wood and the stones and the dust and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39 And seeing it, all the people fell on their faces, and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
4 ¶ Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
2 In this know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ is come in flesh is of God:
3 And every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ is come in flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, of which ye have heard that it should come, and that now it is already in the world.
4 ¶ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.
5 They are of the world; therefore, they speak of the world, and the world hears them.
6 We are of God; he that knows God hears us; he that is not of God does not hear us. By this we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
