Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
11 (A)Teach me Your way, O Lord;
I will walk in Your truth;
(B)Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will (C)give thanks to You, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
And will glorify Your name forever.
13 For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,
And You have (D)delivered my soul from the [a]depths of [b]Sheol.
14 O God, arrogant men have (E)risen up against me,
And [c]a band of violent men have sought my [d]life,
And they have not set You before them.
15 But You, O Lord, are a God (F)merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness and [e]truth.
16 (G)Turn to me, and be gracious to me;
Oh (H)grant Your strength to Your servant,
And save the (I)son of Your handmaid.
17 (J)Show me a sign for good,
That those who hate me may (K)see it and be ashamed,
Because You, O Lord, (L)have helped me and comforted me.
18 For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, “As My (A)anger and wrath have been poured out on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, so My wrath will be poured out on you when you enter Egypt. And you will become a (B)curse, an object of horror, an imprecation and a reproach; and (C)you will see this place no more.” 19 The Lord has spoken to you, O remnant of Judah, “Do not (D)go into Egypt!” You should clearly (E)understand that today I have (F)testified against you. 20 For you have only [a](G)deceived yourselves; for it is you who sent me to the Lord your God, saying, “Pray for us to the Lord our God; and whatever the Lord our God says, tell us so, and we will do it.” 21 So I have (H)told you today, but you have (I)not [b]obeyed the Lord your God, even in whatever He has sent me to tell you. 22 Therefore you should now clearly understand that you will (J)die by the sword, by famine and by pestilence, in the (K)place where you wish to go to reside.
5 (A)These twelve Jesus sent out after instructing them: “Do not [a]go [b]in the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter any city of the (B)Samaritans; 6 but rather go to (C)the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And as you go, [c]preach, saying, ‘(D)The kingdom of heaven [d]is at hand.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give. 9 (E)Do not acquire gold, or silver, or copper for your money belts, 10 or a [e]bag for your journey, or even two [f]coats, or sandals, or a staff; for (F)the worker is worthy of his [g]support. 11 And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay [h]at his house until you leave that city. 12 As you enter the [i]house, (G)give it your [j]greeting. 13 If the house is worthy, [k]give it your blessing of peace. But if it is not worthy, [l]take back your blessing of peace. 14 Whoever does not receive you, nor heed your words, as you go out of that house or that city, (H)shake the dust off your feet. 15 Truly I say to you, (I)it will be more tolerable for the land of (J)Sodom and Gomorrah in (K)the day of judgment than for that city.
A Hard Road before Them
16 “(L)Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves; so [m]be (M)shrewd as serpents and (N)innocent as doves. 17 But beware of men, for they will hand you over to the (O)courts and scourge you (P)in their synagogues; 18 and you will even be brought before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them and to the Gentiles. 19 (Q)But when they hand you over, (R)do not worry about how or what you are to say; for it will be given you in that hour what you are to say. 20 For (S)it is not you who speak, but it is the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
21 “(T)Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and (U)children will rise up against parents and [n]cause them to be put to death. 22 (V)You will be hated by all because of My name, but (W)it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.
23 “But whenever they (X)persecute you in [o]one city, flee to [p]the next; for truly I say to you, you will not finish going through the cities of Israel (Y)until the Son of Man comes.
