³⁴ “^(A)Therefore, behold, ^(B)I am sending you prophets and wise men and scribes; some of them you will kill and crucify, and some of them you will ^(C)scourge in your synagogues, and ^(D)persecute from city to city,

⁹ “But ^[a]be on your guard; for they will ^(A)deliver you to the ^[b]courts, and you will be flogged ^(B)in the synagogues, and you will stand before governors and kings for My sake, as a testimony to them.

¹¹ When they bring you before ^(A)the synagogues and the rulers and the authorities, do not ^(B)worry about how or what you are to speak in your defense, or what you are to say;

⁴⁰ They ^[a]took his advice; and after calling the apostles in, they ^(A)flogged them and ordered them not to ^[b]speak in the name of Jesus, and then released them.

¹⁹ And I said, ‘Lord, they themselves understand that in one synagogue after another ^(A)I used to imprison and ^(B)beat those who believed in You.

¹¹ And ^(A)as I punished them often in all the synagogues, I tried to force them to blaspheme; and being ^(B)furiously enraged at them, I kept pursuing them ^(C)even to ^[a]foreign cities.
