Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
6 So when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, (A)is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” 7 He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which (B)the Father has fixed by His own authority; 8 but you will receive power (C)when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be (D)My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and (E)Samaria, and even to (F)the remotest part of the earth.”
The Ascension
9 And after He had said these things, (G)He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And as they were gazing intently into [a]the sky while He was going, behold, (H)two men in white clothing stood beside them. 11 They also said, “(I)Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into [b]the sky? This Jesus, who (J)has been taken up from you into heaven, will (K)come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”
The Upper Room
12 Then they (L)returned to Jerusalem from the [c](M)mount called [d]Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a [e]Sabbath day’s journey away. 13 When they had entered the city, they went up to (N)the upper room where they were staying; (O)that is, Peter and John and [f]James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, [g]James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zealot, and (P)Judas the [h]son of [i]James. 14 These all with one mind (Q)were continually devoting themselves to prayer, along with (R)the women, and Mary the (S)mother of Jesus, and with His (T)brothers.
The God of Sinai and of the Sanctuary.
For the choir director. A Psalm of David. A Song.
68 [a]Let (A)God arise, [b]let His enemies be scattered,
And [c]let those who hate Him flee before Him.
2 As (B)smoke is driven away, so drive them away;
As (C)wax melts before the fire,
So let the (D)wicked perish before God.
3 But let the (E)righteous be glad; let them exult before God;
Yes, let them rejoice with gladness.
4 Sing to God, (F)sing praises to His name;
[d](G)Lift up a song for Him who (H)rides through the deserts,
Whose (I)name is [e]the Lord, and exult before Him.
5 A (J)father of the fatherless and a (K)judge [f]for the widows,
Is God in His (L)holy habitation.
6 God [g](M)makes a home for the lonely;
He (N)leads out the prisoners into prosperity,
Only (O)the rebellious dwell in a parched land.
7 O God, when You (P)went forth before Your people,
When You (Q)marched through the wilderness, [h]Selah.
8 The (R)earth quaked;
The (S)heavens also dropped rain at the presence of God;
[i](T)Sinai itself quaked at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
9 You (U)shed abroad a plentiful rain, O God;
You confirmed Your inheritance when it was [j]parched.
10 Your creatures settled in it;
You (V)provided in Your goodness for the poor, O God.
32 Sing to God, O (A)kingdoms of the earth,
(B)Sing praises to the Lord, Selah.
33 To Him who (C)rides upon the [a](D)highest heavens, which are from ancient times;
Behold, (E)He [b]speaks forth with His voice, a (F)mighty voice.
34 (G)Ascribe strength to God;
His majesty is over Israel
And (H)His strength is in the [c]skies.
35 [d]O God, You are (I)awesome from Your [e]sanctuary.
The God of Israel Himself (J)gives strength and power to the people.
(K)Blessed be God!
Share the Sufferings of Christ
12 (A)Beloved, do not be surprised at the (B)fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you; 13 but to the degree that you (C)share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the (D)revelation of His glory (E)you may rejoice with exultation. 14 If you are reviled [a](F)for the name of Christ, (G)you are blessed, (H)because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
6 Therefore (A)humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, 7 casting all your (B)anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. 8 (C)Be of sober spirit, (D)be on the alert. Your adversary, (E)the devil, prowls around like a roaring (F)lion, seeking someone to devour. 9 [a](G)But resist him, (H)firm in your faith, knowing that (I)the same experiences of suffering are being accomplished by your [b]brethren who are in the world. 10 After you have suffered (J)for a little while, the (K)God of all grace, who (L)called you to His (M)eternal glory in Christ, will Himself (N)perfect, (O)confirm, strengthen and establish you. 11 (P)To Him be dominion forever and ever. Amen.
The High Priestly Prayer
17 Jesus spoke these things; and (A)lifting up His eyes to heaven, He said, “Father, the hour has come; (B)glorify Your Son, that the Son may glorify You, 2 even as (C)You gave Him authority over all flesh, that (D)to [a]all whom You have given Him, (E)He may give eternal life. 3 This is eternal life, that they may know You, (F)the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom (G)You have sent. 4 (H)I glorified You on the earth, [b](I)having accomplished the work which You have given Me to do. 5 Now, Father, (J)glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had (K)with You before the world was.
6 “(L)I have manifested Your name to the men whom (M)You gave Me out of the world; they were (N)Yours and You gave them to Me, and they have (O)kept Your word. 7 Now they have come to know that everything You have given Me is from You; 8 for (P)the words which You gave Me (Q)I have given to them; and they received them and truly understood that (R)I came forth from You, and they believed that (S)You sent Me. 9 (T)I ask on their behalf; (U)I do not ask on behalf of the world, but of those whom (V)You have given Me; for (W)they are Yours; 10 and (X)all things that are Mine are Yours, and Yours are Mine; and I have been glorified in them. 11 I am no longer in the world; and yet (Y)they themselves are in the world, and (Z)I come to You. (AA)Holy Father, keep them in Your name, the name (AB)which You have given Me, that (AC)they may be one even as We are.
