Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Victorious Power of the God of Jacob.
For the choir director; on stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song.
76 God is (A)known in Judah;
His name is (B)great in Israel.
2 His [a](C)tabernacle is in (D)Salem;
His (E)dwelling place also is in Zion.
3 There He (F)broke the [b]flaming arrows,
The shield and the sword and the [c]weapons of war. [d]Selah.
4 You are resplendent,
[e]More majestic than the mountains of prey.
5 The (G)stouthearted were plundered,
[f]They sank into sleep;
And none of the [g]warriors could use his hands.
6 At Your (H)rebuke, O God of Jacob,
Both [h](I)rider and horse were cast into a dead sleep.
7 You, even You, are (J)to be feared;
And (K)who may stand in Your presence when once [i]You are angry?
17 “Instead of bronze I will bring gold,
And instead of iron I will bring silver,
And instead of wood, bronze,
And instead of stones, iron.
And I will make peace your administrators
And righteousness your overseers.
18 “(A)Violence will not be heard again in your land,
Nor (B)devastation or destruction within your borders;
But you will call your (C)walls salvation, and your (D)gates praise.
19 “No longer will you have the (E)sun for light by day,
Nor for brightness will the moon give you light;
But you will have the (F)Lord for an everlasting light,
And your (G)God for your [a]glory.
20 “Your (H)sun will no longer set,
Nor will your moon wane;
For you will have the Lord for an everlasting light,
And the days of your (I)mourning will be over.
21 “Then all your (J)people will be righteous;
They will (K)possess the land forever,
The branch of [b]My planting,
The (L)work of My hands,
That I may be (M)glorified.
22 “The (N)smallest one will become a [c]clan,
And the least one a mighty nation.
I, the Lord, will hasten it in its time.”
25 Therefore, (A)laying aside falsehood, (B)speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are (C)members of one another. 26 (D)Be angry, and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, 27 and do not (E)give the devil [a]an opportunity. 28 He who steals must steal no longer; but rather (F)he must labor, (G)performing with his own hands what is good, (H)so that he will have something to share with [b]one who has need. 29 Let no [c](I)unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for (J)edification [d]according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. 30 (K)Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, [e]by whom you were (L)sealed for the day of redemption. 31 (M)Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be (N)put away from you, along with all (O)malice. 32 (P)Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, (Q)just as God in Christ also has forgiven [f]you.
Be Imitators of God
5 (R)Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; 2 and (S)walk in love, just as Christ also (T)loved [g]you and (U)gave Himself up for us, an (V)offering and a sacrifice to God [h]as a (W)fragrant aroma.
