Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
MEM
97 Oh how love I thy law! it is my meditation [a]continually.
98 By thy commandments thou hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.
99 I have had more [b]understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation.
100 I understood more than the ancient, because I kept thy precepts.
101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word.
102 I have not declined from thy judgments: for [c]thou didst teach me.
103 How sweet are thy promises unto my mouth! yea, more than honey unto my mouth.
104 By thy precepts I have gotten understanding: therefore I hate all the ways of falsehood.
16 Then said the Princes and all the people unto the Priests, and to the Prophets, This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken unto us in the Name of the Lord our God.
17 ¶ Then rose up certain of the Elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying,
18 Micah the Morashite (A)prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts, Zion shall be plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall be an heap, and the mountain of the [a]house shall be as the high places of the forest.
19 Did Hezekiah King of Judah, and all Judah put him to death? did he not fear the Lord, and prayed before the Lord, and the Lord repented him of the [b]plague, that he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls.
20 And there was also a man that prophesied in the Name of the Lord, one Urijah the son of Shemaiah, of Kirjath Jearim, who prophesied against this city, and against this land, according to all the words of Jeremiah.
21 Now when Jehoiakim the king with all his men of power, and all the princes heard his words, the King sought to slay him. But when Urijah heard it, he was afraid and fled, and went into Egypt.
22 Then Jehoiakim the king [c]sent men into Egypt, even Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain with him into Egypt.
23 And they fetched Urijah out of Egypt, and brought him unto Jehoiakim the king, who slew him with the sword, and [d]cast his dead body into the graves of the children of the people.
24 But the hand of Ahikam [e]the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to death.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, and [a]protest before the Lord, that they strive not about words, which is to no profit, but to the perverting of the hearers.
15 [b]Study to show thyself approved unto God a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, dividing the word of truth [c]aright.
16 [d]Stay profane, and vain babblings: [e]for they shall increase unto more ungodliness.
17 And their word shall fret as a canker: of which sort is Hymenaeus and Philetus.
18 Which as concerning the truth have erred from the mark, saying that the resurrection is past already, and do destroy the faith of certain.
19 [f]But the foundation of God remaineth sure, and hath this seal, The Lord knoweth who are his: and, Let everyone that [g]calleth on the Name of Christ, depart from iniquity.
20 [h]Notwithstanding in a great house are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth, (A)and some for honor, and some unto dishonor.
21 If any man therefore [i]purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honor, sanctified, and meet for the Lord, and prepared unto every good work.
22 [j]Flee also from the lusts of youth, and follow after righteousness, faith, love, and [k]peace, with them that (B)call on the Lord with pure heart,
23 (C)And put away foolish and unlearned questions, knowing that they engender strife.
24 But the servant of the Lord must not strive, but must be gentle toward all men, apt to teach, [l]suffering the evil,
25 Instructing them with meekness that are [m]contrary minded, proving if God at any time will give them repentance, that they may acknowledge the truth,
26 And come to amendment out of that snare of the devil, of whom they are taken prisoners, to do his will.
