Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Lord Praised for His Goodness.
111 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
I (A)will give thanks to the Lord with all my heart,
In the (B)company of the upright and in the assembly.
2 (C)Great are the works of the Lord;
They are [c](D)studied by all who delight in them.
3 [d](E)Splendid and majestic is His work,
And (F)His righteousness endures forever.
4 He has made His [e]wonders [f]to be remembered;
The Lord is (G)gracious and compassionate.
5 He has (H)given [g]food to those who [h]fear Him;
He will (I)remember His covenant forever.
6 He has made known to His people the power of His works,
In giving them the heritage of the nations.
7 The works of His hands are [i](J)truth and justice;
All His precepts (K)are [j]sure.
8 They are (L)upheld forever and ever;
They are performed in [k](M)truth and uprightness.
9 He has sent (N)redemption to His people;
He has [l]ordained His covenant forever;
(O)Holy and [m]awesome is His name.
10 The [n](P)fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
A (Q)good understanding have all those who [o]do His commandments;
His (R)praise endures forever.
28 “Be careful to listen to all these words which I command you, so that (A)it may be well with you and your sons after you forever, for you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God.
29 “When (B)the Lord your God cuts off before you the nations which you are going in to dispossess, and you dispossess them and dwell in their land, 30 beware that you are not ensnared [a]to follow them, after they are destroyed before you, and that you do not inquire after their gods, saying, ‘How do these nations serve their gods, that I also may do likewise?’ 31 (C)You shall not behave thus toward the Lord your God, for every abominable act which the Lord hates they have done for their gods; for (D)they even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods.
32 “[b](E)Whatever I command you, you shall be careful to do; (F)you shall not add to nor take away from it.
Message to Pergamum
12 “And to the angel of the church in (A)Pergamum write:
The One who has (B)the sharp two-edged sword says this:
13 ‘I know where you dwell, where (C)Satan’s throne is; and you hold fast My name, and did not deny (D)My faith even in the days of Antipas, My (E)witness, My (F)faithful one, who was killed among you, (G)where Satan dwells. 14 But (H)I have a few things against you, because you have there some who hold the (I)teaching of Balaam, who kept teaching Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, (J)to eat things sacrificed to idols and to commit acts of immorality. 15 So you also have some who in the same way hold the teaching of the (K)Nicolaitans. 16 Therefore (L)repent; or else (M)I am coming to you quickly, and I will make war against them with (N)the sword of My mouth. 17 (O)He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. (P)To him who overcomes, to him I will give some of the hidden (Q)manna, and I will give him a white stone, and a (R)new name written on the stone (S)which no one knows but he who receives it.’
