Revised Common Lectionary (Semicontinuous)
The Passover Lamb
12 Now the Lord said to Moses and Aaron in the land of [a]Egypt, 2 “(A)This month shall be the beginning of months for you; it is to be the first month of the year for you. 3 Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying, ‘On the tenth of this month they are, each one, to take a [b]lamb for themselves, according to the fathers’ households, a [c]lamb for [d]each household. 4 Now if the household is too small for a [e]lamb, then he and his neighbor nearest to his house are to take one according to the [f]number of persons in them; in proportion to [g]what each one should eat, you are to [h]divide the lamb. 5 Your [i]lamb shall be (B)an unblemished male a year old; you may take it from the sheep or from the goats. 6 [j]You shall keep it until the (C)fourteenth day of the same month, then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel is to slaughter it [k](D)at twilight. 7 (E)Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel [l]of the houses in which they eat it. 8 They shall eat the flesh (F)that same night, (G)roasted with fire, and they shall eat it with (H)unleavened bread [m](I)and bitter herbs. 9 Do not eat any of it raw or boiled at all with water, but rather (J)roasted with fire, both its head and its legs along with (K)its entrails. 10 (L)And you shall not leave any of it over until morning, but whatever is left of it until morning, you shall completely burn with fire. 11 Now you shall eat it in this way: with your garment [n]belted around your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and you shall eat it in a hurry—it is (M)the Lord’s Passover. 12 For (N)I will go through the land of Egypt on that night, and fatally strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the human firstborn to animals; and (O)against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgments—(P)I am the Lord. 13 (Q)The blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you [o]live; and when I see the blood I will pass over you, and no plague will come upon you [p]to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
Feast of Unleavened Bread
14 ‘Now (R)this day shall be (S)a memorial to you, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to the Lord; throughout your generations you are to celebrate it as [q](T)a permanent ordinance.
Israel Invoked to Praise the Lord.
149 [a]Praise [b]the Lord!
Sing a (A)new song to the Lord,
And His praise (B)in the congregation of the godly ones.
2 Israel shall be joyful in (C)his Maker;
The sons of Zion shall rejoice in their (D)King.
3 They shall praise His name with (E)dancing;
They shall sing praises to Him with (F)tambourine and lyre.
4 For the Lord (G)takes pleasure in His people;
He will (H)glorify the lowly with salvation.
5 The (I)godly ones shall be jubilant in glory;
They shall (J)sing for joy on their beds.
6 The (K)high praises of God shall be in their [c]mouths,
And a (L)two-edged (M)sword in their hands,
7 To (N)execute vengeance on the nations,
And punishment on the peoples,
8 To bind their kings (O)with chains,
And their (P)dignitaries with shackles of iron,
9 To (Q)execute against them the judgment written.
This is an (R)honor for all His godly ones.
[d]Praise [e]the Lord!
8 Owe nothing to anyone except to love one another; for (A)the one who loves [a]his neighbor has fulfilled the Law. 9 For this, “(B)You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and if there is any other commandment, it is summed up in this saying, “(C)You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love [b]does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore (D)love is the fulfillment of the Law.
11 Do this, knowing the time, that it is (E)already the hour for you to (F)awaken from sleep; for now [c]salvation is nearer to us than when we first believed. 12 (G)The night is almost gone, and (H)the day is near. Therefore let’s rid ourselves of (I)the deeds of darkness and put on (J)the armor of light. 13 Let’s [d](K)behave properly as in the day, (L)not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual promiscuity and debauchery, not in strife and jealousy. 14 But (M)put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh (N)in regard to its lusts.
Discipline and Prayer
15 “Now (A)if your brother sins[a], go and [b]show him his fault [c]in private; if he listens to you, you have gained your brother. 16 But if he does not listen to you, take one or two more with you, so that (B)on the [d]testimony of two or three witnesses every [e]matter may be confirmed. 17 And if he refuses to listen to them, (C)tell it to the church; and if he refuses to listen even to the church, (D)he is to be to you as [f]a Gentile and [g]a tax collector. 18 Truly I say to you, (E)whatever you [h]bind on earth [i]shall have been bound in heaven; and whatever you [j]loose on earth [k]shall have been loosed in heaven.
19 “Again I say to you, that if two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, (F)it shall be done for them [l]by My Father who is in heaven. 20 For where two or three have gathered together in My name, (G)I am there in their midst.”
