Revised Common Lectionary (Complementary)
10 I said in the [a]cutting off of my days, I shall go to the gates of the grave: I am deprived of the residue of my years.
11 I said, [b]I shall not see the Lord, even the Lord in the land of the living: I shall see man no more among the inhabitants of the world.
12 Mine habitation is departed, and is removed from me, like a shepherd’s tent: I [c]have cut off like a weaver my life: he will cut me off from the height: from day [d]to night, thou wilt make an end of me.
13 I reckoned [e]to the morning: but he brake all my bones like a lion, from day to night wilt thou make an end of me.
14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I [f]chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes were lifted up on high: O Lord, [g]it hath oppressed me, comfort me.
15 What shall I say, [h]for he hath said it to me, and he hath done it: I shall walk [i]weakly all my years in the bitterness of my soul.
16 O Lord, [j]to them that overlive them, and to all that are in them, the life of my spirit shall be known, that thou causest me to [k]sleep and hast given life to me.
17 Behold, for [l]felicity I had bitter grief, but it was thy pleasure to deliver my soul from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my [m]sins behind thy back.
18 For [n]the grave cannot confess thee: death cannot praise thee: they that go down into the pit, cannot hope for thy truth.
19 But the living, the living, he shall confess thee, as I do this day: the father to the [o]children shall declare thy truth.
20 The Lord was ready to save me: therefore we will sing my song, all the days of [p]our life in the house of the Lord.
9 ¶ Then the Philistines came up, and pitched in Judah, and [a]were spread abroad in Lehi.
10 And the men of Judah said, Why are ye come up unto us? And they answered, To [b]bind Samson are we come up, and to do to him as he hath done to us.
11 Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Knowest thou not that the Philistines are rulers over us? [c]Wherefore then hast thou done thus unto us? And he answered them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.
12 Again they said unto him, We are come to bind thee, and to deliver thee into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that ye will not fall upon me yourselves.
13 And they answered him, saying, No, but we will bind thee and [d]deliver thee unto their hand, but we will not kill thee. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him from the rock.
14 When he came to Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms, became as flax that was burnt with fire: for the bands loosed from his hands.
15 And he found a [e]new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hands, and caught it, and slew a thousand men therewith.
16 Then Samson said, With the jaw of an ass are heaps upon heaps: with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men.
17 And when he had left speaking, he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place, [f]Ramath Lehi.
18 And he was sore athirst, and [g]called on the Lord, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
19 Then God brake the cheek tooth, that was in the jaw, and water came there out: and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he was revived: wherefore the name thereof is called, [h]En Hakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
20 And he judged Israel in the days of the Philistines twenty years.
14 ¶ (A)[a]And when they were come to the multitude, there came to him a certain man, and [b]fell down at his feet,
15 And said, Master, have pity on my son: for he is [c]lunatic, and is sore vexed: for oft times he falleth into the fire, and oft times into the water.
16 And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not heal him.
17 Then Jesus answered, and said, O generation faithless, and crooked, how long now shall I be with you! how long now shall I suffer you! bring him hither to me.
18 And Jesus rebuked the devil, and he went out of him: and the child was healed at that hour.
19 [d]Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for (B)verily I say unto you, if ye have faith as much as is a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove: and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
21 [e]Howbeit this kind goeth not out, but by [f]prayer and fasting.
