Psalm 95

Psalm 95[a]

95 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord.
Let us shout out praises to our Protector who delivers us.[b]
Let us enter his presence[c] with thanksgiving.
Let us shout out to him in celebration.[d]
For the Lord is a great God,
a great king who is superior to[e] all gods.
The depths of the earth are in his hand,[f]
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it.
His hands formed the dry land.
Come, let us bow down and worship.[g]
Let us kneel before the Lord, our Creator.
For he is our God;
we are the people of his pasture,
the sheep he owns.[h]
Today, if only you would obey him.[i]
He says,[j] “Do not be stubborn like they were at Meribah,[k]
like they were that day at Massah[l] in the wilderness,[m]
where your ancestors challenged my authority,[n]
and tried my patience, even though they had seen my work.
10 For forty years I was continually disgusted[o] with that generation,
and I said, ‘These people desire to go astray;[p]
they do not obey my commands.’[q]
11 So I made a vow in my anger,
‘They will never enter into the resting place I had set aside for them.’”[r]

Micah 7:8-20

Jerusalem Will Be Vindicated

My enemies,[a] do not gloat[b] over me!
Though I have fallen, I will get up.
Though I sit in darkness, the Lord will be my light.[c]
I must endure[d] the Lord’s fury,
for I have sinned against him.
But then[e] he will defend my cause[f]
and accomplish justice on my behalf.
He will lead me out into the light;
I will witness his deliverance.[g]
10 When my enemies see this, they will be covered with shame.
They say[h] to me, “Where is the Lord your God?”
I will gloat over them;[i]
then they will be trampled down[j]
like mud in the streets.
11 It will be a day for rebuilding your walls;
in that day your boundary will be extended.[k]

A Closing Prayer

12 In that day people[l] will come to you[m]
from Assyria as far as[n] Egypt,
from Egypt as far as the Euphrates River,[o]
from the seacoasts[p] and the mountains.[q]
13 The earth will become desolate
because of what its inhabitants have done.[r]
14 Shepherd your people with your rod,[s]
the flock that belongs to you,[t]
the one that lives alone in a thicket,
in the midst of a pastureland.[u]
Allow them to graze in Bashan and Gilead,[v]
as they did in the old days.[w]
15 “As in the days when you departed from the land of Egypt,
I will show you[x] miraculous deeds.”[y]
16 Nations will see this and be disappointed by[z] all their strength;
they will put their hands over their mouths
and act as if they were deaf.[aa]
17 They will lick the dust like a snake,
like serpents crawling on the ground.[ab]
They will come trembling from their strongholds
to the Lord our God;[ac]
they will be terrified[ad] of you.[ae]
18 Who is a God like you?[af]
Who[ag] forgives sin
and pardons[ah] the rebellion
of those who remain among his people?[ai]
Who does not stay angry forever,
but delights in showing loyal love?
19 Who[aj] will once again[ak] have mercy on us?
Who will conquer[al] our evil deeds?
Who will hurl[am] all our[an] sins into the depths of the sea?[ao]
20 You will be loyal to Jacob
and extend your loyal love to Abraham,[ap]
which you promised on oath to our ancestors[aq] in ancient times.[ar]

Mark 14:26-31

26 After singing a hymn,[a] they went out to the Mount of Olives.

The Prediction of Peter’s Denial

27 Then[b] Jesus said to them, “You will all fall away, for it is written,

I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep will be scattered.’[c]

28 But after I am raised, I will go ahead of you into Galilee.” 29 Peter said to him, “Even if they all fall away, I will not!” 30 Jesus said to him, “I tell you the truth,[d] today—this very night—before a rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times.” 31 But Peter[e] insisted emphatically,[f] “Even if I must die with you, I will never deny you.” And all of them said the same thing.
